If it is, then he has a dark and twisted sense of humor. If it isn't, then he's just plain self-deluded.

ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Far be it from me to begrudge anyone's attempts to build a college/trust fund; but seriously, casting directors, there ARE other, talented young actors out there besides McKenna. Nia is ROCKING that Penny-from-"Good Times" puff.

We might get some leeway, though, if some of us on the left would quit participating in the Purity Olympics. I'm starting to think cutthroat Berners are working BTS to pick off the other contenders and leave the field completely open for their guy (who I still say will never win against Trump, no way, no how).

You could probably blame that on the change in HW's (from Doug Marland to Ethel and Mel Brez).

Nah. And you're right, Julia, it IS a Republican way of thinking. Under normal circumstances, I wouldn't even suggest it. But it looks as if the GOP wants to cut everything and leave it up to the rest of the country to keep it going. I simply can't figure out what else to do. It's either we keep organizations such as SO alive through donations and the like, or we watch as the GOP turns off its life support forever. Man, this government can really depress the hell out of you.

That's when methods such as fundraising and underwriting must kick in. You can't rely on the government anymore to subsidize worthwhile causes such as the Special Olympics. That much is clear.

Hollywood Sexual Harrasment/Assault Thread
ICAM, DD. My immediate reaction: "Wait a minute -- she STAYED with the s.o.b.?" My second reaction (after reading the review): "He never actually molested any children? Yeah, right!" And therein, people, lies the problem (at least with me) with this story. Forget about her ill-advised decision not to dramatize any scenes with her husband. I don't give a damn about Corman's personal struggle, because I simply cannot fathom any wife and mother -- especially a wife and mother who was herself the victim of sexual harassment, as the review discloses -- allowing her children to remain with a man who indulged in his perverted fantasies online. I mean, what's to stop him from "graduating" to performing sexual acts on their kids (if he hasn't already)? I'm sorry, but she could've kept this bullshit to herself, instead of asking people to empathize with her in some ridiculous one-person stage ([!@#$%^&*])show.

"The Conners" Discussion Thread
Same here. I forgive her, but I'll be damned if I'm going to feel sorry for her. Yep. The whole damn world knows and remembers the many, many times Roseanne pushed the boundaries of civility and good taste (among other things). There's a difference, though, between disrespecting the national anthem and calling a Black woman an ape (and no, she doesn't get a pass just by claiming she didn't know Valerie Jarrett was Black -- which I don't buy anyway, but I digress). That, along with the Hitler tweet, was indefensible and inexcusable. Point blank, period. Yes, in our society, every individual is entitled to express exactly what is on his or her mind, even if it disgusts everybody else to hear it. But, freedom of speech doesn't also mean freedom from consequences. If you compare an African-American to an ape on social media, then you damn well better expect there to be pushback. People who keep defending Roseanne (and others like her) need to remember that.

That's a shame (although I certainly understand leaving for the movie gig). I enjoyed watching Elliott, who seemed refreshingly natural and real as teenaged Billy.

Next thing you know, Roseanne will be blaming SON, lol. But seriously. It's just too ridiculous how she refuses to accept responsibility and move on. It isn't as if getting dumped by the network has left her penniless. She could quit everything at this point, go back to her farm in Hawaii (or whatever) and spend the rest of her days in peace and comfort. Not everybody has that luxury, you know? So, what the hell is she still bitching about?
