(Plus, it seems like we are heading toward a Lucky/Liz reunion, which makes me ill. Call me crazy, but I could never find love again with someone who told me they should've left my bleeding ass to die in the snow, lol). I'm starting to think GH is a front for a money laundering operation and all those people are getting paid with mob money.

Don't you mean Blasé? I feel like GH has reached a point where there aren't any more viable love interests for Jason, Carly or even Sonny (Brenda notwithstanding, lol). That's why Jason/Sasha and Brennan/Carly are so...underwhelming. And I'm BEGGING Frank to pry open the piggy bank and use just that song for Drew's shooting/murder, too, lol.

And instead of having Paige fall in love with DIRTYCOPDIRTYCOPDIRTYCOP Tom Ryan, I would've instead introduced a police detective as a love interest for Cathy, who's being stalked by an obsessive fan.

Honestly, @DRW50, I would've written out Jill as Peter's murderer.

And if people do throw tomatoes at Robinson simply for taking a job, then it'll only prove the point that "fans" on social media are morons and should not be catered to at all.

In a way, RR reminded me of Franklin Cover, a.k.a. Tom Willis on "The Jeffersons," who always acted as if he was on an entirely different show.

And I think I would've cut Gary. KNOTS didn't need the connection to DALLAS or to the Ewing clan anymore. It was its' own animal. And I know some would say, "Well, what about Gary and Val?" But, you know what? I'm inclined to think that maybe Gary and Val had outgrown each other by that point, too. Of course, the question remains: how DO you write off Gary Ewing? Well, if it had been me, I would've just had Gary return to Southfork - which, by now, existed in a wonky, parallel universe; one where Bobby remained dead - in order to help Miss Ellie and Clayton run the ranch.

I can't argue with anything you've said, @DRW50, @kalbir and @Vee, lol. I certainly would've brought him back during the final season and paired him up with Anne. I know I've said this before, but I just think John Pleshette and Michelle Phillips would've been a very fun, interesting, and totally unexpected couple to watch.

I think @Alan hit the nail on the head: Ron Raines played Alan Spaulding the same way many musical theater performers might - which is to say, very broadly, and big enough for the folks in the back of the house to see. I know various people have cited moments when Raines toned it down a bit, but I never saw it. To me, his Alan always seemed to be on the verge of breaking into song.

I agree. Don Murray, James Houghton and Kim Lankford might've been expendable, but writing out John Pleshette, Julie Harris and Constance McCashin, as well as losing Donna Mills, really hurt KNOTS in the long run.

Anything to spare us the sight of the AW cast singing a James Brown song to soothe a savage gorilla, lol!

Frankly, we got a lot of that with "Body and Soul" on DAYS.

I can't speak for everyone, but I didn't see the point of bringing her back in 1994, nor did I see the point of reforming her or pairing her with "Uncle Porkchop." When Janet went to prison for murdering Will Cortlandt, that should've been the last we saw of her, at least until Amanda was a teenager or adult and went to visit her biological mother for the first time in prison; and as much as I loved seeing Robin Mattson back on daytime after the cancellation of SANTA BARBARA, she could've just as well joined AMC or any other soap playing a new and completely different part. Much could have been explained with five, simple words: "Janet was better in bed."

I'm just glad they didn't recast with someone whose skin was lighter than Maurice's. Because you KNOW that's been done before in daytime.

But that isn't to say I didn't enjoy Terry Lester as Mason. I enjoyed watching all three actors (Lane Davies, Terry Lester and Gordon Thomson) play Mason. Each brought something unique to the role, I think. Davies brought the humor and charm; Thomson brought the touch of larceny; and Lester, well, he brought the sex, lol. It helped that Nancy Lee Grahn had chemistry with each performer, too. Which is no mean feat, when you consider that two of the three Masons were gay.

For many years, he taught at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. However, I think he is retired.

As brilliant as TL was as Jack Abbott, he never seemed the type who's able to quote Shakespeare at the drop of a flat cap.

ICAM. Like much of what is broadcast today, those miniseries are so dreary to watch. They take themselves much too seriously.

I didn't think so. Then again, I think I'm one of the few here who enjoyed GL throughout the '80's (with Johnny Bauer's cancer saga being the exception, lol). As I've said in the past, my enjoyment of all things GL doesn't really end until Nancy Curlee leaves as HW. For me, that's when GL slowly begins disintegrating. It rallies somewhat during the first half of James Harmon Brown and Barbara Esensten's run as HW, but by 2000 or so, I'm pretty much ready to call it a show.

I agree, @DRW50. Marland must've realized what he was doing - right down to Doug and Darryl having the same initials, lol! - and tried writing his way out of it. Unfortunately, in doing so, he made an already complicated mystery even moreso. But, on the other hand, I always chalked up the parallels or similarities to being in line with Frannie's tragic flaw: a basically nice, sweet girl, who nevertheless has a lousy time picking men. (And when I say "lousy," I mean REALLY lousy, lol).

IIRC, Michael Brockman also asked Paul Rauch to develop a new soap ("Grosse Pointe"?) with the same purpose: to get Bill Bell to create another show for the network. I definitely agree that CBSD viewed CAPITOL as a placeholder for what eventually became B&B. (Although, what would have happened had CAPITOL become a breakout hit is anybody's guess, lol). But I also think there came a point when CBSD recognized that CAPITOL was finished and that they needed to light a fire under Bill Bell's ass immediately or else risk losing that half-hour to the affiliates. Hence, Brockman's decision to reach out to Labine and Rauch (and maybe others). I give Brockman credit, though, for at least being honest with Labine about her chances of launching "Celebration" on the network. Too often, you read about networks virtually promising the moon to creators, only for the creators to realize the networks never had any intention of getting their shows on the air.
