  1. That's kind of what I'm saying, @dragonflies. B&B is littered with characters who have been used so much in the stories that they're used up, preventing the show from really evolving.
  2. B&B's problem is the same problem Bill Bell probably had with Y&R before he chose to phase out the original families and refocus the show. In both situation, you have a core group of characters who have been depleted by years of constant, front-burner storylines and questionable recasts. If Bradley were anything like his dad, he'd recognize that the time is now to revamp the show from top to bottom.
  3. I still can't believe it took so many recasts to make Faith work even a little; and even when they DID have a successful recast with Karen Morris-Gowdy, her Faith was so different from what Faith was originally, she might as well have been an entirely new character.
  4. Which was dumb, because what 12-year-old controls their household's finances? And if 12-year-olds do, in fact, determine which purchases are made for the rest of the family, no wonder this country is in so much trouble, lol. I know TPTB argued, "Well, if we get them at 12-17 years old, they'll be fans forever," but the problem there is what happens when they DO get older? Are you still going to tailor your writing to the 12-17 year olds and ignore those who have "aged out"? Or are you going to acknowledge that your original fans have grown up and, in fact, require more sophisticated writing (which means you are, in fact, no longer writing for 12-17 year olds)? PASSIONS just needed to do what every other, new soap has done: write for a general (meaning: adult) audience and hope that future generations of fans will grow through those who were/are first exposed to the show through their mothers, grandmothers, etc.
  5. That's pretty much my rebuttal to everyone who says this proves PM isn't HW material. I can't even accuse him of merely continuing his predecessor's storylines - like I could with Douglas Marland and THE DOCTORS - because PM wasn't there long enough to know if that was his intention!
  6. At the very least, Chase and BLQ should possess contrasting personalities, like early Tom and Margo (ATWT) or Mason and Julia (SaBa), so that even if there aren't any big, soapy obstacles to their happiness, they're still entertaining to watch. I liked the idea of BLQ's wealth becoming an issue for her and Chase, especially if Chase had been in a position where he was unable to provide for the two of them financially, which, in turn, would have caused him to feel like less of a man and sent him down a very different path. Unfortunately, they've played the Chase is injured/Chase is off the force storyline already.
  7. Like I said, the whole Mulcahey/Korte experiment has been weird. Never, in all my years of soap viewing, have I ever witnessed any soap spending so long doing absolutely nothing. Never! Even the worst of the worst HW's have hit the ground running whenever they began decimating yet another, beloved show. That's why I'm convinced there's been a power struggle BTS, regardless of who's spilling what tea and whether their tea is, in fact, legit. I mean, the results speak for themselves. THIS is what happens when you've got a team (HW's and EP) who can't agree on anything. You just get some great dialogue and a bunch of people changing jobs, lol. You know something's wrong when, as soon as a couple gets married, you're looking forward to when they get divorced. God knows I could do without Chase OR Josh Swickard, but dear God, no one deserves to be married to GH's answer to Laura Ingalls Wilder.
  8. Ron Carlivati's writing is a great equalizer. No matter how skilled you are as a writer, working with his ideas turns you into a hack. Oh, this show is so toxic. Peacock would almost be doing it a favor by reneging (sp?) on their renewal.
  9. Plus, there's just so much craziness going on right now (both on screen and, apparently, BTS) that it's like, "How can you NOT comment?," lol.
  10. What can you say? The past several months on GH have been weird as well, lol! No cliffhangers, promising scenes and storylines that lead to nothing, endless amounts of time spent on events that very few, if any, care about; moments that just make you sit up and wonder if you're having a stroke.... If even part of this is Elizabeth Korte's vision for GH, then I'd be very afraid.
  11. Every week, I would read previews and such for the show; and every week, my reaction would be the same: "If this [!@#$%^&*] is bad on paper, I can only imagine how it's playing out on screen!" I tried watching PASSIONS from the beginning, but I bailed fairly quickly, because it was clear that the show was nothing more than JER run amok. NBCD literally handed that man a briefcase full of cash to inflict his issues on the American public; and for that, I'll never forgive them.
  12. I agree. It's an awkward situation, to be sure, but I don't think it merits "punishing" her for her spouse's sins.
  13. I'm not sure I can trust Ron Carlivati to write for this particular character properly.
  14. I agree. Our best hope is to keep electing Democrats to the WH who will be there to appoint new justices as the older ones die off.
  15. Ten? More like thirty, lol. LOL!! Some seem to think that a cliffhanger has to be this momentous event, like bombs going off or some such. Sometimes, though, a cliffhanger can be as simple as a knock on the door.
  16. No arguments here, lol. If anything, I’d add SuBe. That [!@#$%^&*] was awful from scene one.
  17. If it does, I guarantee you won’t see any of it hit GH. “Because, at GENERAL HOSPITAL, there’s always room for more!”
  18. That’s being almost too kind to the show, lol. TBH, I don’t think anything on GH has made even a little bit of sense since…when did Garin Wolf take over again? Anyways, it was just before that, lol.
  19. "Guza unleashed," with no one for him to answer to, was dark, ugly and misogynistic af. But it also was a helluva lot more entertaining than everything that came afterward.
  20. The only thing Chris and Dan moved was me to tears.
  21. You know things are rotten in the state of Denmark when even yours truly would like to see Bob Guza return, lol. I agree. But I'm serious about Guza coming back! I totally forgive the Sonny/Jason/Carly hero worship, Bobby, just come back home!
  22. I agree. In fact, that's all we hear. That, and he keeps the actors happy. Frankly, I'd take a show that's mired in debt and littered with cast members who are sticking pins in voodoo dolls of each other over Frank Valentini's GH.
  23. And I know there are gonna be folks who will say, "Well, Shannon Peace is a WOC, who championed for Sprina BTS." To which, I say, "Representation is one thing; GOOD representation is another."
  24. I was convinced that Patrick Mulcahey COULD be a good HW when I watched B&B's transgender storyline, a story he was largely responsible for, and the last time B&B had any writing with any depth to it. With all due respect, @Toups: I understand your POV, but I'm not gonna debate a subject like this with someone who thinks JER is the greatest soap writer who ever lived. On his own, the man had 3-4 good years at one show; and even though his writing managed to pull said show out of the ratings gutter, there is still debate over whether his success came at the expense of the show's integrity. @ranger1rg, on the other hand, is someone whose opinions on this I take seriously, or more seriously, because at least they remember when Y&R was written by people who knew how (even if we'll have to agree to disagree about Shick, I think, lol).
