  1. Glad someone’s reading them! 😂
  2. Nice shot of NAC with Whitney Peak in this Vogue spread on the Williamstown Theatre Festival.
  3. I think Brook Kerr is one of the show’s best actors, period. And, yes, she often outmatches her scene partners. I was half expecting for her to toss Kai out of her office like Uncle Phil used to do to Jazz on Fresh Prince of Bel Air. And I’ll stick up for Portia’s misdeeds. The show is usually so tentative around its Black characters; it flattens them out with nobility. Portia, on the other hand, is as mercurial and messy as Carly, Alexis, or Nina.
  4. Based on those IKWYDLS reviews, it looks like Nicholas may have dodged a bullet (he was only in the opening scene anyway). Regardless, he’s starring opposite Pamela Anderson and Whitney Peak in a rarely produced Tennessee Williams play that’s opening at Williamstown this week, so onward and upward.
  5. That’s a great point. I appreciate that they’re developing Marco and Lucas as a couple. I just fear that this will end with Sonny getting off scot free yet again and Marco leaving the show in a year.
  6. Today’s episode was pretty dreadful. I hate that they’re using Emma as Town Jailbait for both Dalton and Vaughn as part of this convoluted WSB story. The editing was a mess—we see Marco and Alexis talking in his hotel room while he’s getting texts from Lucas (who, in other scenes, is working a shift at the hospital and sparring with Willow). Then, next thing we know, Lucas is in a suit outside of Marco’s hotel room because he hasn’t heard back from the latter and is heading to Natalia’s funeral (which hasn’t happened yet even though Lucy already left the church). Cut to Marco imprisoned by a bored-looking Jason. The scenes of Michael explaining to Sonny and Carly why Sasha has to leave town were just awful. Mo at his mumbliest, Rory struggling to sell the weak dialogue, and Laura overcompensating with her trademark broad gestures and facial expressions. The show was cooking for a while there but it’s hit a rough patch again for sure.
  7. Who is telling him to shave his chest before shirtless scenes, though?
  8. Well now I’m tearing up again, @dragonflies!
  9. I’m not sure how Avery Kristen Pohl was eligible for the guest category since the final few weeks of her contract fell at the beginning of the eligibility period, but I’m thrilled for her and hope she wins.
  10. I only check in on DAYS a few times per month but I’m happy for both Greg Rikaart and Paul Telfer. The former manages to be one of the rarest things on soaps, a consistently funny character, and the latter brought some real depth to his storyline in the aftermath of Victor’s death.
  11. I swear 90% of the reason Carly even owns the Metro Court is so that she can throw people out of it.
  12. This all needs to end with Sasha, Willow, and Kristina sharing a cell in Ferncliff and screaming “My baby!” over and over again.
  13. Cut to her or Barash saying “We just didn’t want our kid to grow up in California (wink wink)” in 3,2,1…
  14. Yes! And Trina didn’t even go back to Wyndemere after the graveside ceremony. I honestly thought I was going insane. But that really set the tone for the next year and a half.
  15. The stat in that tweet, @Liberty City, is a pretty clear of example of what we’ve discussed here a lot about the show basically resegregating its Black characters. Kai and Trina are cordoned off together, as are Jordan, Portia, Isaiah, and Curtis, and their only link to the white characters atm is conflict over Drew.
  16. Not to look a gift horse in the mouth but some nice square-cut swim trunks instead of this knee-length situation would make Gio look taller.
  17. I’m loving Van Hansis. It’s nice to have a gay male character who is neither a goofy sidekick nor super-masc. I hope they put him on contract and continue developing this star-crossed romance with Marco.
  18. Speaking of going bi, it would make a lot of sense for Joss to have a female love interest, since they haven’t been able to make a heterosexual romance click with her. With 2 women on contract for every 1 man in this cast, they really need more lesbians. Come to think of it, Joss and Kristina aren’t technically related…
  19. For something called Galore Mag, doing fine prop work with a cigar.
  20. Carlo Rota is an absolute ham but he cracks me up. I love how annoyed he is by these Port Charles rubes getting in the way of his nefarious schemes.
  21. Is anyone else starting to get the sense that Cody is the one creeping into Daisy’s nursery? They’re using him a lot all of the sudden now that he’s gone recurring, which is usually a sign that they’re about to write someone off altogether. Is he channeling his star-crossed love for cousin Sasha into a weird obsession with her baby? Would the show go there? Speaking of Cody, when Molly showed up at the Qs’, I suddenly couldn’t remember if the two of them were just friends or dating or weirdsies or what. Same with Brennan and Carly. And Emma and Gio. This show’s stop-and-start approach to romance is so frustrating. Finally, why was Kristina only opening the bar when it was already dark (in summer) and Marco and Lucas had finished dinner? It’s not as if Charlie’s is some bottle-service nightclub that doesn’t open until 10—we’ve seen them serve lunch.
  22. You’d be hard-pressed to find a more content-restrictive medium than soaps at this point. There aren’t many other acting jobs where you know you’re not going to be asked to simulate extreme violence or sex, appear nude, or use graphic language. To ask for additional restrictions on top of that is really bizarre.
  23. I did not realize Katelyn had that in her. Willow is a weak, damaged character—raised in a cult, easily enthralled by sleazy men—but we’ve never seen her unravel like that. It was a genuinely upsetting scene, and I admire KM for reaching that level of intensity in, I assume, the usual single take.
  24. On the cover of the Singapore (sure!) edition of Esquire
