- GH: O’Connor/Van Etten OUT! Mulcahey/Korte IN!
I've always tried to be an advocate for Chris Van Etten & Dan O'Connor. When their material first aired it, to me, was a breath of fresh air. Then COVID happened and things just... stalled, and instead of pushing forward with a real-time time jump, they went ahead and just picked up where they left off. And then everything dragged on, but when situations like Emma Samms' one-month stint, it proved when given a timeframe they have to tell a story in they are capable of doing it. Then the strike team came in and shook the entire canvas up; history was being brought into scripts, things for moving at a pace and it showed just how lacking Van Etten & O'Connor were in their scripts, so it was apparent then a change needed to come. Easily, they could have promoted from within and made Elizabeth Korte and another staffer co-head writers. Instead they went against the grain and hired a writer that fans have been clamoring to be hired as a head writer, predominately at The Young and the Restless. To quote my friend: ❝ Fück, you all got Patrick Mulcahey? Damn. That is a win! ❞ so that is the precedence set for Mulcahey and his writing, etc. Mhmm; he his the second-longest tenured executive producer General Hospital has had in terms of a singular stint. James Young held the title for a total of thirteen years (1963–1976).- GH: February 2024 Discussion Thread
I, unlike a lot of those out there, do enjoy Tabyana Ali's portrayal of Trina. However, opposite the likes of Genie Francis, Brook Kerr & Maura West, she does fall short in terms of the emotive scenes as evident by yesterday's episode with West. BUT... it does feel like there are little trickles of the upcoming regime being inserted into scripts. Intentional or not, I'm enjoy what it could bring.- Show how are you feeling right now as a GIF or YT clip

My fingers are crossed; hiring a name like Mulcahey comes with having to know his history. He is infamously not a "yes" man. He has his own ideas, his own viewpoints, etc. and it is my hope that Disney-ABC allows him (and Korte) to do what they need / want to do with this soap, because it very much could be MAGICAL, and that's my hope! I agree, re: the other three soaps.- GH: O’Connor/Van Etten OUT! Mulcahey/Korte IN!
It's my hope ⏤ given Mulcahey's connection to Douglas Marland ⏤ that a semi-immediate change takes place, but I am also realistic in that it's [likely] to take some time. I don't suspect it'll be like when the strike material began to air.- One Life to Live Tribute Thread
Not sure if discussed prior but wondering what people think of Erika Slezak's opinions and point of views on the executive producers for One Life.- GH: O’Connor/Van Etten OUT! Mulcahey/Korte IN!
I agree; my main concern has always been the gag-hold Disney-ABC seems to have over General Hospital.- GH: February 2024 Discussion Thread

And all of that is your opinion. And it's one that, from my POV, is a very shallow and judgmental one to have, especially on women. 🤷🏻♂️ It's like telling men they can't have longer hair because they're men, in my opinion. And I know plenty of women Laura Wright's age who would kill to have the volume she has.- GH: February 2024 Discussion Thread
Laura Wright's hair is all hers. And she always mentions how she misses her shorter hair. As for Jane Elliot & Lynn Herring, both look fine, and I'm fairly certain because Herring is recurring she has more control, and I doubt anyone is going to tell Elliot what to do with her hair. She always mentioned, upon her retirement, she couldn't wait to stop dyeing it. If it's anything like primetime, then I assume a lot of actresses require permission from production when it comes to changing their hair. I'd love to see you tell Meryl Streep or any non-daytime actress of a certain age what she should do with her hair, because of her age and this so-called "rule". And more to that point, Judge Judy even stated she grew her own hair out because it was easier for her to maintain. It's all situational. If a woman of a "certain age" wants to keep her hair long, then that's her decision to do so.- Your daily (or nightly) thought

How long 'til both of them come knocking on daytime's door? Haha. But congrats to them on three seasons!- GH: February 2024 Discussion Thread

I know she's predominately a music producer but what about tapping into her cooking side? Opens and / or works at a restaurant of some kind? I know it isn't... the most thrilling, but it'd be a nice change of pace for Lois. Maybe even working with Curtis at The Savoy to produce musical talent for performances, booking events, et al.- GH: O’Connor/Van Etten OUT! Mulcahey/Korte IN!
I suspect it's going to take some time for Mulcahey & Korte's material to really settle and move, and I think that's natural.- The Yummy Corner
