  1. I agree. But they're intentionally writing him this way, right? I don't get it. In the first months of the show, we were given a loving, caring Ted who was all about showing Nicole all levels of love language. Then we get a recast...and nothing. back in the day, that was called ‘taking the character in a new direction.’ but it usually happened after the original actor had been off the canvas for while. why they decided to recast in the middle of a storyline will forever by a mystery. this is the first soap i’ve ever watched from the very beginning. i know it’s been years, but does anyone recall another soap having these kinds of growing pains?
  2. so much work needed in how stories proceed. i just looked, and late in thursday’s episode, the kids tell martin and smitty that they made up their minds about seeing june — which felt like kind of a cliffhanger. but nothing — not in the next episode (friday) or today. and what’s going on with bill and haley? instead, we get derek, which, as, as pointed out above, could have waited. i do not understand why they want to have so many stories going on simultaneously. they’re blocking story momentum. i’m finding it frustrating. not sure how much longer i’ll still around. may just take a look after checking the recaps.
  3. woo hoo — looks like i was wrong!
  4. looking like at least part of today’s episode will be preempted.
  5. nice obit in the ny times. free link. tristan rogers obit
  6. and then following up by injecting potassium laura’s. iv. (and where is laura?). all compounded by months of episodes already pre-taped.
  7. i’ve been saying from the beginning: too much happening too quickly to too many characters. simply not enough time to laid a proper groundwork and aftermath for every story.
  8. THANK YOU!!! I loved they read him because it's true. I'm not even on his side now and today's episode with his dialogue did not help at all. Can he not see why he's wrong? Jesus. ‘can he not see why he’s wrong.’ well, he could… if the writers wanted him to.
  9. not to mention that she twice tried to murder laura — not because she had a personal conflict with laura — but because laura stood in the way of her plan. sounds like a sociopath to me, which is, at least for me, hard to forget.
  10. they can’t be serious! the kids are going to meet june TODAY!?
  11. these people need to pop an edible and relax. i get dizzy just thinking about how much plot they’ve burned through in six months.
  12. yes, yes, yes! this chelsea allison thing wouldn’t be so stupid if there had been some character development for allison. but, as it stands, she’s just a plot device. and why, why for the love of god, would naomi and jacob break the news when the kids were in the house. stupid, stupid, stupid!
  13. @Paul Raven i didn’t come across ‘snark weighs in’ until the mid-aughts. loved it — he cited my posts several times. then, one day the website just disappeared. any idea what happened?
  14. some thoughts about eileen fulton’s passing. https://open.substack.com/pub/lynnliccardo/p/soap-operas-original-bad-girl?r=7nfi1&utm_campaign=post&utm_medium=web&showWelcomeOnShare=true
  15. he was my first celebrity crush. from the same era (late 60s), also found robert gentry (ed bauer) dishy.
  16. i actually liked it a lot. never seen it before, but i thought it really captured her joie de vivre. having met eileen a few times and talked with her on the phone, looking at it, i can actually hear her voice.
  17. might be the other way ‘round. larry bryggman began in 1969, and was pretty devious from the beginning. michael zaslow came on gl in 1971, and as i recall, grew into his deviousness over time. just went to soap central to check and found that ‘who’s who in…’ is no longer available. a shame, it was such a useful resource.
  18. finally! finally, cbs sunday morning recognized an actor from a p&g soap in ‘passages.’ of course, had eileen fulton passed away in a week not dominated by so many notable deaths, she might have rated a short clip noting her 50 years on ‘world turns. but given the show’s shameful neglect of other ‘world turns and guiding light actors — no mention of kathryn hays, elizabeth hubbard, lisa brown or jerry ver dorn — this is something, albeit, long overdue.
