  1. Great interview. Susan Marie Snyder was VERY honest about MDM's death. She admitted both MDM and Michael Louden were challenging.
  2. I remember that cover vividly. Saved it for years as a kid -- would love to have it now. Amazing photo of an amazing cast.
  3. Sherilyn Wolter was one of my favorite daytime actresses of the 80s, but she's never gotten her due. Her portrayals were always sublime, but sadly overshadowed by those other actresses the soap press fawned over. Sherilyn deserves more respect...
  4. From the many tributes posted by his Gh co-stars, Stuart Damon seemed to be absolutely adored by his co-stars. They all refer to him as "Stuie" which tickles my heart. Although Luke & Laura and all the spy drama ruled GH in the 80s, the Quartermaines and their shenanigans were the glue that held the show together throughout that time. When the spy capers got convoluted, we always had the Quartermaines to keep us entertained. Stuart Damon, Leslie Charleson and David Lewis were electric in their scenes together. No other show had anything close to their dynamic chemistry.
  5. Such chemistry these two had... https://soaphub.com/general-hospital/exclusive-ghs-leslie-charleson-shares-memories-of-stuart-damon/
  6. Edge was populated with many character actors...many went onto other soap roles, but for sure Larkin's romantic pairings on GL and AMC made his the highest profile of all the actors' follow ups. Joel Crothers to Santa Barbara in 85. Irving Allen Lee to Ryan's Hope in 86. Both likely would have done more if they had not died so sadly. Charles Flohe did a stint on Dallas, then onto Another Word, Santa Barbara and B&B. Lois Kibbee did Search for Tomorrow in 85, then OLTL starting in 86. Ann Flood had smaller roles on Search, Another World, AMC, ATWT and OLTL in the years after Edge. Mark Arnold had a memorable turn on SB and then several years on OLTL. Terry Davis did AW before SB and Sunset Beach on the West Coast. Joe Lambie did GH, Search for Tomorrow, SB and a recurring role on Falcon Crest.
  7. Correct -- Alan was not working on ATWT when Melanie and Mary Ellen were on the show. I find the interviews are better, with less interruptions, when Alan hasn't worked with the guests. There is less of his own rambling, he's not as chummy w/ the actors and the interviews are more professional. The trade off is that sometimes he gets history wrong...but I will gladly trade that for depth and a little tea. The fans are always there to correct him -- and Alan often solicits their fact-checking prowess.
  8. Wish Alan had asked Melanie and Mary Ellen about Douglas Marland. They were major stars of the show during its renaissance...even if they might not have insights into production matters, they certainly would have reflections on Marland's talent w/ story, character, etc.
  9. This discipline is because so many of the daytime actors had come from the theater / theater training...and many did stage work alongside their soap roles. This was a clear advantage the NYC soaps had over the LA soaps.
  10. In today's Locher... Carolyn admitted Lisa Brown was not welcoming when she joined GL. She placed the blame on herself saying she was intimidated by Lisa...but admitted that her pairing w/ Tom Nielsen didn't endear her to Lisa. Kristen V confirmed Lisa was always very "focused."
  11. Kelli Maroney posted a lovely remembrance of John Gabriel. https://www.instagram.com/p/CQHtJhVF8g_/
  12. Locher interviewed John and Sandy Gabriel earlier this year. John looked and sounded great and it was clear that he and Sandy adored each other.
  13. Nice touch to have Sharon Wyatt there by phone. I hope she knows how much GH fans adore and miss her !
  14. Agreed -- and it was very obvious. Of all the prime time soaps, Falcon Crest seemed the most balanced with a slight edge given to the women. Jane Wyman / Angela was clearly the star, with Chase and Richard written as her rivals. Maggie and Melissa were the heroines caught up in romantic entanglements.
  15. Thanks -- could you send the rest as a WETRANSFER link ? Eager to see the full set.
  16. Locher’s reunion with the GL producers was probably his best yet. Amazingly informative about the BTS workings of daytime. The group truly seemed to adore their time working on the show. One of the producers had been the assistant to multiple EP legends including JFP, Paul Rausch, John Conboy and Ellen Wheeler…she shared some tales and you know she has many more. Much time spent on the Peapack experiment...they offered a better appreciation of how inventive Wheeler was in trying to keep the show on the air. Wheeler was seemingly dedicated and hard working…they even mentioned her pulling all nighters in the studio. Would be great if Locher could get her on for an interview — between AW, AMC and GL, she witnessed so much daytime history. Not surprisingly they all praised Zimmer and said of all the “divas” they worked with in their careers (before and after GL) she was the most down to earth and real. Apparently she commuted daily by bus from NJ to Port Authority before hauling across town to the GL studio. Love the image of the multi-Emmy winning legend trudging through Port Authority with the rest of humanity.
  17. These aren't showing up as attachments...can you try to create a link to them ?
  18. Wow -- what a rich cast AMC had during that era ! The Erica-Natalie rivalry was one of my favorites of all time. I do have to wonder why TPTB even bothered recasting Nina...I feel sorry for Barbara Kearns, there was just no way anyone could make us forget Taylor Miller -- she was just too popular and too perfect in the role of fairy tale princess Nina. There were enough other characters on the canvas, Nina just should have been written out until TM was ready to return.
  19. Agreed about Louise ! She's a legend -- RH and EON where her favorite daytime roles. Let's all message Locher to get her back on for her own solo interview. What might hook him: Louise was Emmy nominated as part of the writing team for As The World Turns. We all know he favors ATWT...let's just hope he gives her ample time to discuss all her years IN FRONT OF the camera.
  20. Louise's terrible connection prevented her from sharing much on Locher's reunion. But it's clear she still has amazing chemistry w/ Kelli and Michael. Hopefully Locher brings Louise back w/ a better connection so she can share stories from all her years in daytime...she's still totally with it, and clearly has tales to tell.
  21. Did anyone tune in for the reunion ?
  22. Your post sent me on a rewatch of early 84 last night... Yes some of the stories were too far from the GH we knew, but the cast is what really made it all work. I can't say I disliked any of the actors of that era. Too bad more didn't go onto the success that Stamos and Demi Moore achieved, but I guess that would've kept us from enjoying them in Port Charles for as long as we did. And yes, the dance school w/ sleazy Barry Williams deserves an eye-roll...but it did cement Holly as the show's heroine, so purpose served.
  23. Any idea what Tim Maier is doing now ? He was great on Rituals ! I wish he had done more acting...
  24. Wow -- any more gossip you can share ? Love all the BTS details...
  25. So much of Cliff and Nina's original popularity was because of the rich characters and talented actors in their orbit: the disapproving and scheming Palmer; the mysterious mother-figure Monique née Daisy: the gothic grandmotherly housekeeper Myra; and the wicked other woman Sybil. And I do think Taylor Miller was perfectly cast as the fairy-tale heroine. The start of Cliff and Nina's romance was some of Agnes Nixon's best work IMO.
