  1. Francesca James should write her own book. Her life and all her stories are the history of daytime TV. She was honest and loving in her remembrances...esp enjoyed hearing about her transition from acting to directing / producing and how supportive her AMC castmates were. Bravo to her for making that jump ! Jennifer Bassey was adorable -- she shared fabulous anecdotes about David Canary, Michael E. Knight and Ruth Warrick. She truly adored David Canary...as did the rest of the AMC cast and crew. The technical troubles were annoying. After all these months of interviews, Alan should know the value of a tech check before an interview -- even before he commits to having a guest on, he should determine if their technology can support a 90-min interview. Franscesca, once a producer always a producer, had to jump in to troubleshoot...but even then the tech difficulties continued. But bless dear Alan for bringing this interview to us -- was truly a treat.
  2. Fun clip of Andrea Moar (RIP) and Tina Louise...80s hair on full display.
  3. This reunion was a good one. Everyone had strong, working wi-fi which made a big difference. And Alan was a bit more professional w/ his interviewing skills --- maybe he is learning, or maybe Retro TV PR guided him. Was great to also hear about memories of some of their other soap roles too. Jada rambled a bit too long, and I would have liked to have heard a bit more from Nicholas Walker (who I find delightful)...but overall a great discussion.
  4. IMO, casting was Rituals' biggest strength. The vets were stellar - Monte Markham, Christine Jones, Kin Shriner, Philece Sampler, Andrea Moar, Peter Haskell, Dennis Patrick. We owe Rituals for introducing us to so many new young actors who went on to great roles: Mary Beth Evans, Kevin Blair (Spirtas), Jon Lindstrom, etc. And of course the stunt casting of George Lazenby, Patti Davis and Tina Louise certainly got press. Sadly it didn't help ratings.
  5. P&G Idiots ! Passing up easy money...
  6. In the Locher Reunion, Geoff Pierson praised Ilene's comic skills...He said her comedy was a welcome diversion to the endless melodrama on the page.
  7. Ilene's portrayal of Delia could not be more different from Randall's. Ilene's Delia was more manic, Randall's more sympathetic. I loved the resemblance between Randall and Jadrien Steele as Little John. They could easily have been mother and son. As much as I love Robin Mattson she was all wrong as Delia. Anyone know why Randall was so unhappy as Delia ? Had her romance w/ Roscoe begun before she left ?
  8. Amazing how long John Gabriel lasted on RH considering his character who was never directly tied to the Ryan's. Sandy also had a short-term role on RH shortly before she started AMC.
  9. Even if you hated what Dakota meant for Johnny and Jill, there's no denying the character fueled storyline for the Ryans. Dakota's arrival put the family front-and-center again and created conflict for the shows' most beloved couples -- Maeve and Johnny and Frank And Jill. And Dakota was also the perfect partner in crime for both Maggie and Delia. Chris Durham did a great job with the role. Dakota was a good stretch after being John Conboy's hunk-of-the-month on Capitol. Would be great to hear from Chris about his time on RH.
  10. Seems like on-set romances were not unusual for RH. Grant and Yasmine, Randall and Roscoe, Geoffrey and Cali (although not certain of their timeline). I'm sure there were others. There's no denying chemistry...
  11. That scene ! I remember it vividly. It shocked and scared me as a 6 year old and has remained with me for all these years. Is it on Youtube ? I need to see it again.
  12. I seem to recall that Grant Show appeared on Y&R before RH...but it was a very small dayplayer-type role.
  13. Surprised La Lucci hasn't acknowledged Peg Murray's passing on social media. They had sooo many scenes together. Olga was Erika's sounding board for many years.
  14. Is there any video out there of this or any of Hensley's time on OLTL ?
  15. Would like to hear more about Jon Hensley's stint on OLTL. Anyone ?
  16. I'd be interested to hear everyone's favorite Frank Ryan. They each had their strengths for sure. For me its a toss up between Geoffrey Pierson and Daniel Hugh Kelly, but I haven't seen much of Michael Hawkins and Andrew Robinson in the role. John Sanderford was perfectly fine, but not quite as interesting as the others. Interestingly, Robinson was the only one to receive an Emmy nom.
  17. So thrilled with the reunion ! But wishing it was a smaller group... This mix could have easily been split into two groups. Alan should know by now that larger groups often run into technical difficulties and too much overtalking (The Doctors reunion being a prime example). We get much more substance when its kept to 2-3 guests. Ilene w/ Malcolm and Geoffrey alone could have had their own 3-hour reunion. Ash and James never even worked w/ Geoffrey. Hopefully Alan will do more w/ RH. Would love to see Cali Timmons and Michael Levin after all these years ! And reuniting Michael Corbett, Kelli Maroney and Louise Schaffer would be a gas. I would also love to hear Helen's recollections, but I know she would have zero tolerance for Alan's "do you remember your first day ?" silliness...
  18. GREAT PHOTO the original Snyder clan !
  19. Hubbard made this comment in her first Locher Room reunion w/ Martha Byrne. During much of his era, Marland gave more time to his senior cast than the younger set. And Tom, Margo, Barbara, Hal, etc. were all in their 30s when Marland kept them front-burner...not what I consider "young love."
  20. Been rewatching early Marland-era episodes of ATWT. Liz Hubbard’s claim that Marland was only interested in writing for the younger actors is simply wrong. Marland consistently kept the veterans front burner. With all the men in Lucinda's personal and professional orbit (Craig, Tonio, Kirk, Dr. John, etc.) Liz was given lots of screentime and all the best scene partners. Wonder if her complaints come from never winning an Emmy for Lucinda, while her younger co-stars regularly did (Martha, John Wesley Shipp, Julianne Moore, etc.). Liz doesn't know how good she had it...
  21. I was totally enthralled by Silver's shenanigans back in the day. Deborah Goodrich was perfectly cast as Silver. The chemistry between La Lucci, Deborah and Lee Godart burned through the TV set.
  22. Seeing these episodes reminds me how rich the show's acting was at that time -- loved seeing vets Kathryn Hayes, Marie Masters and Larry Bryggman front and center. And Melanie Smith, Michael David Morrison, Scotty D and Susan Marie Snyder -- they owned those roles and made you root hard for their characters.
  23. The Hallmark reunion was filmed in LA, so it was mostly AMC cast now living on the West Coast. Julia Barr lives in NJ. I think La Lucci was the only one who came in from the East Coast...most of the rest live on the West Coast (except Taylor Miller -- think she's Chicago-area). But in agreement -- we need to see and hear more from Julia Barr. She was integral to AMC success for many decades.
  24. In the most recent ATWT reunion, Tom Wiggins spoke of how much he enjoyed being paired w/ Renee Props. The Kirk and Ellie romance was his personal favorite. Renee Props had a much stronger comic chemistry w/ Wiggins than his other leading ladies.
  25. Agreed, Iva had a lot of screen time even though she wasn't the most engaging. Of all the 80s era Snyders, Meg (under Jennifer Ashe) and Caleb (Michael David Morrison) were the most intriguing. I don't think Ashe and Morrison get enough credit for the fire they brought. Without those two, the Snyders would have been a dull, boring and dreary farm family.
