  1. I read on another board that Y&R is recasting Kay Chancellor with an actress named Scoche Marin. Josh Griffith and Sony/CBS wants to goose up the ratings. They said the story will be that Mrs. C didnt really die and that Esther was keeping her on ice in the Chanceller Mansion basement for the last few years. Is it true?

  2. Under MAB, I loved Kay’s fake/Marge’s funeral, Sabrina’s end, everything Sharon/Nick/Phyllis, Nina being involved in everything and Ronan, and her characterization of Billy. There was a sense of camp that Bill Bell had too. A lot of it was BAD, but much was enjoyable.

With Passanante/Altman, there were the returns of Phyllis and Adam. Also lots of good day-to-day characterization and dialogue.

Sally restored the core of the show and gave us Ashley back, uncartooned the Newmans, and attempted a new generation (should have picked different characters to age, but whatever).

  3. If it is that person, the logic makes absolutely no sense. Ugh. Everything, from stories to production design, on this show is dumb, wasted potential, uninspired, cheap, or boring. The sets are cheap and overcrowded. Performances are forced and devoid of emotion. Characters are unlikable.

I find myself longing for the MAB days (half the show, except for the end of her run in 2012, was worth watching) or Passanante/Altman’s run that was cut too short when they hit their stride in late 2014. I’d also take boring Sally Sussman over boring Josh Griffith. Each of those regimes had “moments” that I still go back and watch. While I’m on it, the less said about Pratt, the better. Ugh.

  4. In September 1999, Molly was fooling around with young Chris at the Hughes house (probably last time we saw the living room) and Nancy almost caught them. Molly referred to her as “Mrs. McCloskey.” It was during a weird time when Nancy would be “Hughes” or “McCloskey,” probably depending on who write the dialogue on a given day.

I never had any interest in them either. I never did know why she was hired in the first place.

She looked like Cosgrove’s contemporary, but it was odd seeing her with Bomer’s Ben. They put Ben in with characters a little too young for him
