  1. I like that Felicia killed Peter and Mac killed Ryan. Dynamic duo ridding the world of pests!
  2. ______________________ Susan A. Banks https://www.imdb.com/name/nm2475406/bio
  3. Okay but ... what about grieving?
  4. I know Ryan is dead. I just want to him to STAY dead. I loathe the character!
  5. Count of US House of Representatives for the session that began January 2023 Previous count: Democrats 212 Republicans 222 1 Vacancy due to death 11/28/22. (special election to fill it scheduled for February 21, 2023) __________ total 435 (A Democrat won the special election but is not sworn in yet) Update March 2023 after the special election is certified and the new congresswoman is sworn in: Democrats 213 Republicans 222 __________ total 435 Ongoing question: Will they ever disqualify Santos?
  6. Who are the breakdown writers that are leaving? Is there any diversity remaining in what's left of the writing team?
  7. Oh! All through the years, I had always skipped Ryan storylines because I never liked the character. I had no idea he was missing a hand!
  8. Griffith is now the sole EP, HW, and breakdown writer? What a disaster!
  9. I haven't been able to watch full episodes in a few weeks. I've seen only recaps and clips. I half-expected Ryan to grab Kevin in the tunnels to Spoon Island, and then switch clothes with him. And then I expected Kevin to be shot and Ryan to take Kevin's place - with Kevin eventually recovering elsewhere later in captivity. Because all of that would be standard soap trope. But there's no way the real Kevin would say those things to Ava. So Ava and Mac really did shoot Ryan. I am startled to read recaps that Ryan actually died? Can this be true? Will he awaken from the body bag later? I'm tired of Ryan - I've been tired of him for a very very very long time. I'll be glad if he's really gone.
  10. A few bullet points from an article: President Biden has been in Ukraine and Poland this week. Biden called Jennifer McClellan from Poland to congratulate her on her winning a seat in the House. She will be sworn in to the U.S. House at some point after the Virginia election results are certified. McClellan informed the Virginia State Senate President Pro Tempore that she will resign her state senate seat by March 7, when the election results are expected to be certified, or when she is sworn in as a member of the 118th Congress, whichever happens first. Virginia Democrats now focus on the race to fill her seat in the Virginia State Senate. The date of the special election has not yet been set. Whoever wins the special election could have to defend the seat in a second party primary later this spring in the new 14th Senate District, which the Virginia Supreme Court created in political redistricting last year. About 80% of the new district lies in Richmond, with the remainder in Henrico County, which has a larger share of the current 9th District. https://richmond.com/news/state-and-regional/govt-and-politics/biden-calls-mcclellan-from-poland-democrats-turn-to-senate-race/article_e9b0ada0-b2ca-11ed-ab79-a33e68f63515.html EDIT later to UPDATE: The "firehouse primary" to fill her State Senate seat will be held Sunday Feb. 26. The special election will be held Tuesday March 28. https://apnews.com/article/politics-virginia-richmond-3cb3819f2b5785eb8df1f2a610cb73d8

  12. McClellan's victory was expected in the strongly Democratic Virginia 4th Congressional District, but its magnitude was even larger than had been predicted. She won with more than 74% of the vote. Her Republican opponent (Leon Benjamin) finished with under 26% of the vote, in his third consecutive race for the seat. Benjamin issued a statement: "While we worked very hard to bring conservative values to the 4th District, we did not prevail in turning the district red." https://richmond.com/news/state-and-regional/govt-and-politics/biden-calls-mcclellan-from-poland-democrats-turn-to-senate-race/article_e9b0ada0-b2ca-11ed-ab79-a33e68f63515.html ______________ (I think the press probably knew McClellan's margin of victory would be that large, but wouldn't say it.)
  13. I wanted to add that ... all the *headlines* about Jennifer McClellan are about her being the first Black woman elected to represent Virginia in the U.S. Congress. Virginia being brought into modern times is sadly noteworthy, but there is more to tell about her. I had to read deeper in various articles to actually find more about her. In her law practice she represents Verizon, so she recused herself when the Virginia legislature was working on telecommunications regulatory issues. The Virginia State Senate meets only part of the year, so she had been maintaining her other career as an attorney. I don't know if she'll continue that after she begins serving in the U.S. House. She's friends with Tim Kaine, and Kaine performed the wedding ceremony when McClellan married her husband. And then, most importantly, I had to look up her stances and record on various issues.

Shawn Christian plays the head lifeguard who seems charming but turns out to be a villain. The episode is up on nbc.com and on Peacock. Cady McClain guested on Law&Order SVU. Feb 16, 2023: Season 24, episode 14 "Dutch Tears". The detectives are investigating a former prison guard for facilitating rapes inside the prison years ago. 15. Special election for Virginia's 4th Congressional District, for the U.S. House of Representatives. Democrat Donald McEachin was reelected Nov. 8, 2022 but died Nov. 28, 2022. Special election to replace him: Feb. 21, 2023. Virginia State Senator (Democrat) Jennifer McClellan won. She is the first Black woman to represent Virginia in the U.S. Congress. https://apnews.com/article/russia-ukraine-virginia-state-government-north-carolina-2022-midterm-elections-richmond-b5a6fa87e084a575582885e1e5b5f72f
  16. My impression had been this: Esme *was* the hook at the beginning. At some point Heather jumped in and took over (without Esme's knowledge). Heather killed at least one person when Esme had an observable alibi, as a way to draw suspicion away from Esme. Meanwhile Esme got pregnant and couldn't do it anymore anyhow.
  17. Quoting @j swift "Filed under it will never happen, how refreshing would it be for Nicole to remark on her age, and be concerned about how much longer she'll be able to rely on her sexual appeal to get out of sticky situations? Rather than, continue to be written a vixen whose only assets are her body rather than her brains and experience. I'd love for her to be more of mentor to Gabi, and advise her not to make the same errors she made at that stage in her life." My reply: What? It's been a long time since Nicole relied only on her sexual appeal to get out of sticky situations. It's been many years since she's been written as a vixen whose only assets are her body rather than her brains and experience! Nicole is charming and attractive; but she's mostly written as having a big heart and being quite intelligent - with her main flaw being that she messes up sometimes due to being insecure. And she had begun to overcome some of her insecurities and showed character growth a few years ago -- when she used her investigative reporter instincts to figure out some of the convoluted plot about baby Mackenzie. There was something related to all of that which she told Eric about as soon as she learned it, instead of hiding it from him out of insecurity. She periodically falls back into insecurity, but doesn't stay there long. And in the past few weeks (offscreen of course) she has helped at DiMera meetings. (This is mentioned in conversation by other characters). She saved the day with savvy negotiations when EJ was disoriented from being drugged. I liked that Nicole was a mentor to Allie when young adult Allie first arrived on canvas. Gabi seems to be written more as the vixen sometimes now, but not really. I think she's just driven and motivated and ... impulsive! She would do whatever to get what she wants. Back in 2014, Kate and Sami were written as Gabi's mentors, which wasn't helpful, LOL. I don't know how a Nicole/Gabi dynamic would work, but it's an interesting idea.
  18. It seems the next week of episodes are a single Salem day, per the daily spoilers. The status of Wendy and Allie's apartment is addressed on Feb 28, and Sonny is being wished farewell by other Salem resident on March 3. (Maybe that farewell is by videochat during his journey, or maybe he's still in Salem, but either way it's March 3)
