  1. I also have some questions: After hearing about the live episode and the fact that SFT was struggling in the ratings, my first thought was that the live episode was actually a plan to boost ratings and interest in the show. I don't believe the tapes actually were lost, but instead this story was used to gain media attention. Somehow the tapes were gone and now this soap would have to do a live episode which hasn't been done in decades by this time. I also saw that someone posted the live show with the control room audio (not sure of the validity of this) but the video also confirms the fact that this was a ploy to draw interest. Does anyone know whether this has been confirmed in some way before? Also, I read on the early pages that by the end of its run SFT felt old fashioned compared to the other soaps on the air. How did it feel old fashion?
  2. Oh ok...so this news is out there. I assumed it was some BTS stories that were circulating. Thanks for the tip
  3. I would like to know...please share
  4. Wow, wasn't expecting that for 80s TV. I wasn't aware that JC had substance abuse issues, but I wouldn't be surprised if all those unexpected absences were stints at rehab.
  5. They used actual footage of her facelift or just had her facelift written into the story to explain her changes appearance?
  6. I notice they're airing David Kimble's death on Monday, when they just aired the masquerade as a classic Friday episode some weeks ago. If they were going to show them both, they could have just dedicated a week to that whole storyline and aired a couple of major episodes - tying them together with some bonus cast intros or pop ups of some sort. I actually researched that entire storyline after the masquerade episode and looked up summaries and YouTube clips. I watched the trash compactor scene after reading about it in the summary, just because I was a bit shocked when I read it. Didn't find too many episodes aside from a clip with the missing scenes from the edited masquerade episode and smaller clips from the era.
  7. Wow Crimson Lights was busy back in 2006. New management or bad coffee must have destroyed that place ... recently, when Sharon was calling her doctor for results, she and Rey were the only ones in there at one point and when there were more it was cast not extras.
  8. I've watched live since it's premeire everytime. I will say I enjoyed season 1 a little better overall and wished they had explored or gone deeper with a few of the storylines before fast forwarding a few years with season 2. I know they were starting production on season 3 or at least about to shortly when all the stay at home orders began. I was hoping for this to come on late spring/early summer.
  9. *posts gif of Siggy on the floor screaming "That's all I wanted"* This post pretty much sums up how I feel about Kyle. All these comments on Twitter and Instagram saying she's changed or is different -this season confuse me, because she has shown us all along this is who she is but I guess with the new dynamic it may be more obvious to others.
  10. Found this article on EW.com. Looks like a zoom reunion with a bunch of cast members similar to the ones Locher has been hosting on his youtube page. There will be a new episode posted each day, Tuesday, May 26 - Friday, May 29. Two episodes will be released on Friday (total of 5). https://ew.com/tv/ew-reunites-all-my-children-cast/ From the article: Here is the full list of cast members involved in the reunion: Jennifer Bassey, Tamara Braun, Justin Bruening, Rebecca Budig, Mark Consuelos, Josh Duhamel, Bobbie Eakes, Melissa Claire Egan, Ricky Paull Goldin, Alexa Havins, Michael E. Knight, Jill Larson, Eva LaRue, Susan Lucci, Cameron Mathison, Cady McClain, Billy Miller, Alicia Minshew, Sydney Penny, Kelly Ripa, Leven Rambin, Eden Riegel, Chrishell Stause, Walt Willey, Darnell Williams, and Jacob Young.
  11. I just spotted this on my insta stream.
  12. Can I get an entire episode without Murphy coming on to say a lot of the same. I'm not saying it's not important, but can't they show this on their online news channel and then summarize on their 3 hours of news from 4-7pm later in the day.
  13. I remember today's episode well. I watched YR around this time. Weird seeing so many characters I had forgotten about. That wig Shemar Moore has on...is a choice. It's the same one he wore for Diary of a Mad Black Woman. They were probably filming these episodes and film around the same time or shortly after.
  14. This statement is so accurate it hurts. I really do like GV and think he's adorable, but I totally get what you're saying...he played the role very safe or maybe the writing just wasn't there when he played the character, but he seems really sweet and I hear he's doing well on DAYS. JY was never Lucky for me...maybe because he was on the way out when I started watching GH for a bit.
  15. I didn't know that about the NBC soaps. It seemed that NBC was so desperate to compete with ABC and CBS that it would sometimes made moves that would do a lot of harm to it's lineup. I was reading up on The Doctors and they really killed off that show with all the moving across the schedule, especially since it performed so strongly in the early/mid 70s and did decent in the late 70s to then see some pretty significant drops at the end of the decade and beginning of the 80s.
  16. It's interesting to see so many soaps on CBS and NBC. I know at one point, the number of soaps on daytime were in the teens but when it's on a grid like that it really gave me a better perspective of how heavily populated the daytime schedules were with soaps at one point. NBC having 4 soaps is odd as I have always remembered there only being 2, well vaguely remember 3 with AW, DAYS and SuBe. I will give it to NBC, they really did try up until the late 90s to get their schedule right and attempted through the years to experiment with new soaps and programming ...unfortunately at times, these experiments were at the expense of other soaps on their schedule. I believe NBC had the most soaps premeire on its network - I guess in an attempt to compete with ABC and CBS over the decades. However, I think expanding DAYS to an hour is what ends up hurting it's performance in the late 70s, especially once it starts going up against the highly rated ATWT at the time.
  17. Did ABC and CBS plan their daytime schedule together...pretty funny that they don't have any of their soaps going head to head.
  18. Wow that's pretty epic. I can't picture a soap opera using mainstream music, especially a song like Justify My Love which had the whole video controversy for being too sexual being used on a daytime soap...that's amazing. I would love to see it. I thought the characters were actually going to get down with the music in the background. Still cool nonetheless.
  19. If they're going to show earlier 30-min episodes, which they probably won't. They could consider showing two consecutive episodes to fill the hour timeslot. Of course these would have to be edited for time, but so are the hour episodes that don't fit into the current run time. I like the idea others have mentioned of having better introductions to the episodes and even including some pop up tidbits to make following the story easier or just some interesting facts.
  20. I went from 1977 yesterday to watching an episode from 1983 today. Amazing how I went from only recognizing one actor in 1977 to recognizing several cast members and characters in the 1983 episode that were still on when I was watching in the 2000s. The episode was from December 19, 1983. Beth (played by Judi Evans at the time) runs off with Phillip after her abusive stepfather and mother show up at school with a police officer to take her to court. Seems like her stepdad got a job in Canada and intends to bring her with them. Phillip and/or Rick smash a window in the classroom and Phillip and Beth run off. We learned a bit about the abusive father situation through a flashback. Wow, Grant Aleksandr was cute...didn't realize that until now (imo of course). Reva is attempting to get money from Billy and Josh walks in at one point. Billy leaves after Josh tells him about his upset daughter who went to talk to Alan about what just happened at school - seems like she isn't feeling Beth much because she likes Phillip also. Pretty funny moment when Billy is consoling and scolding his daughter at the country club for talking to Alan, some woman (I wish I knew the character but I didn't catch a name) wants to intervene because Mindy is making a scene at the country club when an older man tells her not to that Billy should control his own daughter to which she replies something like I don't think Billy can control any of his women. I tried to look for the next episode hoping it would be available but the closest was the December 23rd episode and Beth and Phillip have arrived in NYC. The recording was in bad condition so I didn't bother. Does anyone know details about how this storyline is resolved? Also, when did Billy and Reva characters drop those heavy accents? I was taken aback for a little bit when I heard Reva open her mouth because I don't recall her having that accent in the 2000s episodes.
  21. I remember these. I was watching YR at the time. I also remember today's episode, I may have been watching BB a bit at the time and decided to see what was happening on YR. The fight was horrible. If you're going to have a fight in 2012 it needs to be more animated. Sharon looked like she wasn't reacting half the time and Nikki was so delicate with those blows it didn't translate well on screen. Sharon could have been laughing and telling Nikki her granny claws feel like a infant's touch with her debilitating arthritis. But seriously, there was nothing cute about that fight. Dead! But so accurate. At least BB can still afford a crappy green screen with images of Vegas. DAYS is having extras (probably an assistant's daughter working for food) running around in a beret so we believe they're in Paris somewhere.
  22. Thank you, I definitely will. Very insightful. I appreciate it.
  23. I found myself watching a few episode from 1977, as I was up late and had nothing to watch. Then I ended up on some wikipedia rabbit hole. I noticed not many characters from the 70s or earlier "survived" into the last decade of the show and if they did, they weren't played by their original actor. I think Ed and Meta Bauer were the only two characters pre-1970 that existed on the show in the 2000s. I know actor replacements are common on soaps, but P&G sister show ATWT had a few long running characters played by the same actors that lasted from the 50s and 60s. This isn't true for GL. I also noticed that GLs longest running actor was Charita Bauer who lasted 34 years which is a very long time, but considering GL was on close to 60 years, I thought there may have been someone who would have been on longer. ATWT has a few 40+ and BB has several cast members who will soon surpass Charita's run. I'm curious if GL had some sort of revamp or major change that may have led to few early characters continuing on, especially characters from the 70s.
  24. Haha...I noticed that too. Stephanie's expressions in those photos slightly saved it.
  25. I can get down with that. I meant more so when someone has a wedding for the 5th time in someone's living room these days.
