  1. re: Marcy Walker. It's so rare to see an actor/actress be so honest about BTS stuff. I give her so much credit for openly admitting JFP used her to keep her job as EP. There was no reason to bring Marcy Walker onto GL in terms of storyline. It felt as if JFP were punishing MW for some reason even down to the name of her character.

Amelia Marshall had something nice to say about everyone except for Nia Long. She didn't answer anything about Nia Long and kept it moving.

I think Crampton could have worked as Mindy but she was saddled with terrible stories: the Joe Lando nonsense was the worst. I felt sorry for Crampton. Who is going to invest in a storyline when you know one person is going to be leaving after a certain time?

  2. I have not been a consistent watcher this season (only try to watch for Sutton, Garcelle and Denise), but  have the lawsuits been discussed? I thought they mentioned Dorit's lawsuit, but I can't imagine Kyle and Erika would ever allow their lawsuits to be discussed on air.

IS anyone surprised about Lisa Rinna? She has been selling her daughters ever since she got on the show.

  3. Let's not forget season four when Brandi went on twitter to accuse Ken of assaulting Yolanda. In the midseason trailer for that season, Brandi and Yolanda accused LVP of blackmailing Kyle. That scene never made it to the final cut, and we all know Ken did not assault Yolanda. Brandi has a history of lying on the show.

I agree. I always liked her too. I'm good with this OLTL reunion, minus Kale Browne, lol. I liked Jason Shane Scott too. I just hated the 'invasion'. Shane Scott could have been a Drew recast instead of them killing off Drew, but I digress ...

The Rappaport takeover was annoying, and it did permanent damage to Nora's character who had to be dumbed down tremendously for the storyline to work. That's JFP for you. She loves dumbing down women and making stories about the men.

What might SB have been if Conboy and Jackie Smith (NBC) had not made those personnel changes and the Dobsons had returned in 1991 to find the old crew still intact?

Thank you for the background info. IT does put things in context, but I think one of the big problems with the Dobsons' return is they had complete disregard for the fans who stuck with the show during their absence. The Dobsons wanted to right every "wrong" they saw with the show, but they ended up giving the finger to longtime SB viewers. It's one thing to want to fix a show, but it's another to do it in such a way that you're alienating the existing audience. Pamela Long did more damage, but it wasn't a show she created. The Dobsons should have protected their creation even if it meant keeping material from previous regimes.

  6. I think Jessica Morris is underrated. I think she should have been Emmy nominated when she found out about her father's death. Wasn't there all kinds of gossip about Browne during his OLTL tenure? I always wondered why he was let go.

Either 2nd season curse of believing your hype..or the more rare season 3 where they give you a bad edit and/diminish you (Shannon on OC and Heather on NY)

The way they treated Heather still makes me angry. They purposely edited her out and cut out context to make her look bad (ex. being upset about losing a nanny when it was about her son who had special needs). Some viewers fell for it, and it drives me nuts when viewers fall for the editing. Despite the way the editing went, Heather was responsible for the big stories that year.

Thank god the glam squad has disappeared as featured performers this year and I believe last season as well.

I really enjoyed Kathryn, no clue why they didn’t keep her or keep both of them.

Because Erika was seen as the hot new thing, and Kathryn repeated what Erika said on camera, and the fans were momentarily upset. By the end of the season, Kathryn was better liked than Erika, but Bravo was still going by the initial reaction. I also think they thought Kathryn would be more confrontational with Faye. I thought Kathryn really fit in while Erika did her normal sucking on a lemon face. Andy and Bravo were constantly pushing Erika.

I honestly can’t tell you a single storyline Erika has had since panty gate. Zero.

And it wasn't even really hers. She was more of a supporting character in the only storyline she had. That says everything about her contributions to the show. Does anyone really care about her ridiculous glam squad and her dressing like a first episode castoff from Drag Race? I still say Kathryn should have been the one to get a second season and not Erika.

Getting rid of Carrington Garland's Kelly had to be one of the biggest casting mistakes of all time for the show. She was the perfect one to step into Eden's role as lead heroine.

That was a HUGE blunder. Garland could have taken over for Walker, and the show could have rebounded because audiences adored her. The Dobsons and Rauch took everything the viewers liked and got rid of it, and added people and stories no one cared about. Conboy made such bizarre blunders (Julia's rape was never needed; the weird story with Ric and the Harlan stuff; the director story with Sophia that didn't really go anywhere) but he brought on the Quinn/Flame stuff which everyone liked. I also was a fan of the Laura/Annie/Bunny stuff which got more wacky during his time. I think he could have righted the ship if his worst excesses had been curbed. I know Mulcahey loathes him, but I think Conboy was the last time the show worked for the most part.

  11. @Capridge I agree with you for the most part, but I do think Flame/Michael worked quite well. I think it was the only relationship that worked during their stint because the characters were not dumbed down to make the plot work. The Dobsons seemed to like writing for Flame so it's a shame the backstage stuff got in the way.  I wonder sometimes if the Cruz/Suzanne stuff was the Dobsons getting back at A. MArtinez for supporting Phelps. It plays that way to me.

  12. I don't know what happened during the Dobsons' return, but I wish they hadn't mucked it up so much. I liked what they did with Flame and Michael, but that didn't last long because of the Born/Rauch fight. I wonder what would have happened if there were a different producer.

Dorinda in her debut season wasnt all that nice..remember the scene where she mistook a patron as a staff member..and than laughed about a time she gave money to a disheveled guy cause she thought he was homeless?  And she was vile to Kristen as well when it was John she should have yelled at.

@chrisml my mom quit watching NY when Alex got the boot.  Only came back to see Bethenny and tuned out when Bethennyy boo hoo'd about being 'homeless ' .

Wasn't the restaurant scene where she misidentified a black man for a staff member? I thought it was extremely offensive at the time if I'm remembering correctly.

Alex was not treated well by Bravo. She was the right brand of kooky without the viciousness that Sonja has for instance. She was not a middle ground, and in watching season three, I really liked her friendship with Bethenny.

@Chris B is right. Dorinda was horrible in her first season. She went after Heather for no reason. It was really bizarre how hateful Dorinda became over nothing.

  14. I'm no fan of Jill's, but I would take her over Dorinda and Sonja. Dorinda is just the most hateful person. Jill self-sabotaged during the third season, but Dorinda is so much worse. IT would have been nice to have Jill back and I'd like to see Alex as well. I think getting rid of Alex was a huge mistake now that I've gone back and watched seasons 3-4. You need a liaison between the nutters and the relatively sane ones.

  15. I always liked Justin Klosky on GL. I'm easy to please. You put an attractive dark-haired man on my screen and I'm happy. I know Conboy's tenure gets a lot of flack (deservedly so--Maryann and the destruction of Alex come to mind) but I found it watchable which is more than I can say about EW's tenure.

Have any of you caught the mess Tyra Sanchez has been posting on Instagram.? I know she feels like she was mistreated, the fanbase was definitely awful to her, and Drag Race certainly had many missteps with their queens of color and the racist fanbase. However, she is going about it in a very messy way and some of her arguments for example the Michelle Visage one isn't fully making sense to me.

I'm confused. Didn't TS go on and on about how she never wanted to be associated with RPDR and she didn't want fans even mentioning the show to her? What is her obsession with Raven? It's all so disturbing. I'm sure Vixen and Kennedy Davenport can talk about the racism in the drag race fandom.

With Beverly Hills and New York, even before they premiered Andy said they were behind on post-production so I really don't think it's a plot. They've centered the season on the Denise story and Kyle and Rinna already look terrible. They aren't going to throw out a messy story regardless of how anybody looks. And we know Kyle and Rinna are teflon and will be invited back no matter what they do. It doesn't help that the cast protects them, especially Rinna and won't hold them accountable.

You're probably right, but a plot is much more enjoyable to think about. I do think they have to do something about the Brandi situation or else they look like total posers which they are, but they could at least pretend to be otherwise.
