  1. I did not see Agnes Nixon's run or the first half of Harding Lemay's but there is no denying they were the greatest time periods / eras for Another World. I watched from 1977-96 and occasionally from 1996-99. December 1982 - Summer 1985 is my favourite time period. Dorothy Ann Purser & Robert Soderberg and then Richard Culliton & Gary Tomlin managed to successfully create new characters (Felicia, Cass, Wallingford, Carl, Catlin), families (Love, McKinnon), expand diversity (Lily, Carter, Grant, Abel), tell more modern stories and also keep the core families (Cory, Matthews, Ewing) front and centre. I recently rewatched the available episodes on Youtube and they hold up well.
  2. 1986 was a devastating year for Another World and it was never the name. In addition to those you mentioned we also lost the Ewing family - Gail Brown (Clarice), Rick Porter (Larry) + plus their children Cory & Jeanne. The remaining Matthews were written out - Irene Dailey (Liz), Taylor Miller (Sally) and Trevor Richard (Kevin). Most of Quinn's family were gone - Pamela Kay (Thomasina), Russell Todd (Carter), their son Grant and Jackee Harry (Lily). 1975 was probably the most critical year for AW. Losing George Reinholt (Steve), Jacqueline Courtney (Alice), Virginia Dwyer (Mary) and Susan Sullivan (Lenore).
  3. Nicholas walker participated in a Locher Room Capital reunion back in 2020.
  4. I followed Brenda Dickson on Twitter for a while but I had to stop. It was painful to see the batshit crazy things she posted. She is obviously mentally ill and needs someone to help her. I believe she deleted her account.
  5. It would have killed me if she was nasty. lol. I have also interacted with Mark Pinter and Faith Ford on the Another World Memories Twitter and they are also really cool and nice.
  6. Mary Page Keller comments quite often on the Another World Memories Twitter page. I have interacted with her a few times and she is as lovely as I had hoped she would be. She also shares memories of the cast.
  7. Speaking of Thorne recasts does anyone know why Jeff Trachta was fired? I thought he was popular or at least his pairing with Bobbie Eakes was.
  8. I also prefer the Loves during 1983-85 and McKinnons 1984 -85 than during the DePriest era. I get angry when I think of how she gutted the show during 1986-87. I enjoyed AW up to 1995 but it was a very different show.

When I first saw that hair it was a big no. Then I saw the rest! GH needs to bring Lucas back as an angry bad boy. 😍

OMG! GH needs to bring him back immediately.
  11. You are correct. The original Mac - Robert Emhardt was part of the Mansion of the Damned Story. When I watched the episodes on YouTube a few years ago I found Mr. Emhardt very likely but nothing like Doug Watson!
  12. I recently watched the few 1982 episodes online and Anne Rose Brooks (Diana) did have some type of accent going on. Not sure if anyone from Australia would claim it though. I thought Steve adopted Sally as an adult but I may be wrong about that.
  13. I really enjoyed the first 2 episodes. I worried it would be more of the same but they are really taking the characters forward in stories that are plausible for them. I agree with Cat that Carrie will most likely have financial issues. I also think Miranda will have an alcohol problem and Charlotte will be Charlotte.
  14. Gail Brown was so different than every other actress on AW. I loved her and Clarice. The working class Ewing family were one of my favourites. One of Margaret DePriest's biggest mistakes was getting rid of them,
  15. I also really liked Stephen Yates. Bekins is my favourite because I believed his Jamie was Rachel’s son. He could be passionate, charming and difficult. His chemistry with Doug and Victoria was incredible. And his scenes with Connie were so real. However, Stephen Yates in those cutoffs eclipses all of that!
  16. The best Jamie. Richard Bekins.
  17. With the correct writing and directing Vanna Tribbey could have been a very interesting Alice.
  18. If you are in Canada you can watch Family on the CTV app. I haven’t started it yet because I know it will consume my life!
  19. i thought the situation was that Virginia Dwyer would change her lines to better reflect who she felt Mary was and not how Lemay was writing her. Hugh Marlowe was struggling to remember his lines at the best of times and was thrown off because his cues were no longer as they were in the script. Once again Lemay's ego and favouritism was on full display. He praised Connie Ford (who was a stage actress he loved) for changing her lines but was angered when Virginia Dwyer (a soap actress he did not like) did the same.
  20. OMG! It looks like they are guest starring on an episode of Buck Rogers.
  21. A little off topic but Tanquir was first mentioned leading up to the launch of Texas. Tanquir was a big part of the story for the first several months of Texas. If I remember correctly Cecile was nasty without much humour (other than sarcasm and snark) until the Alma Rudder story. Cecile’s frustration with Alma when their plot against Blaine snowballed is when Nancy Frangione’s gift for comedy started to show up onscreen.
  22. Personally I thought Henrietta had a lot of live left in her. She was unique and I loved the character. I suspect she was written out so new Head Writers Richard Culliton and Gary Tomlin could bring in some of their own characters. In addition to Roy and Henrietta they also wrote out Gil Fenton, Vivien Gorrow, Nicole Love, Abel/Leo Marsh, Julia Shearer and David Thatcher.
  23. 1) I believe their friendship grew due to Henrietta's son (RJ) dating Quinn's adoptive daughter (Thomasina). RJ was always getting into trouble and Quinn supported Henrietta. 2) This is testing my memory but I think they left to expand Henrietta's pie business. 3) Joe Morton played twins Abel (a doctor) and Leo (a singer). Roy did not have a twin. Jackee's appearance were seriously reduced once she got 227. Lily and Quinn both were in interested in Grant Todd who worked at Smiley's were Maisie also worked. Smiley's was used a central location where a working class group of characters interacted and were friends. 4) Gil and Roy worked together as architects.
