  1. I just want to take a minute to thank you all for keeping this thread going. Reading these comments is exactly what I need right now.
  2. Here is a great interview with Linda Dano, Anna Stuart and Victoria Wyndham. VW comes across as tough but very human. Everything we have been saying in this thread about her frustration with the behind the scenes drama seems to be accurate. http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/chat26.html
  3. My understanding is that both Matt Crane and Sandra Ferguson had great relationships with VW and maintained contact with her for at least a while after Another World ended. I read an interview with Beverlee where she said her female screen partner on AW always had to have the last word in every scene with her. She made this woman sound petty, insecure and competitive. Beverlee did not name the actress.
  4. I loved VW as Rachel but from most things I’ve read (including her own Interviews) she did not seem like the nicest person to be around. I am sure the constant behind the scenes turmoil did not help. I imagine watching the show be dismantled by one bad decision after another would make a person angry. Didn’t she throw something at Tom Casiello? And isn’t there a story about her being horrible to someone in an ice cream store in New York? Ricky Paull Goldin said in last week’s SOD podcast that she didn’t speak to him the entire 3 years he was on the show. He said it jokingly but I have no doubt there was some truth to it.
  5. i would not be least bit surprised if this was true.
  6. Exactly Khan. Soaps need multi-generational characters and supporting actors. Bridget had an important role to play as the one constant in Vicky's life and she also had great relationships with Donna, Michael and especially Jake.
  7. She fired Barbara Berjer (Bridget) and David Hedison (Spencer). Among many other short sighted and disastrous decisions.
  8. I have listened to and read many Harding Lemay interviews. This was the first one where he came across as humble and not arrogant. I wish the interviewer would have spent some time asking about Mr. Lemay's 1988 return. Other than the the interview was great.
  9. Did Terry Davis and Tony Crag leave on their own or were they let go?
  10. Rumour has it that Chris Goutman wanted Beverlee McKinsey to appear in the last episode / scene but Proctor and Gamble squashed it because they were still pissed off about how she left Guiding Light.
  11. I wish the Dobson's had been given more time when they finally returned. I agree they made mistakes (the biggest being the firing of Carrington Garland) but I really think they could have turned the show around if given the chance. I also really wish they would have been able to write the ending.
  12. Thank you vetsoapfan! My god Beverly was negative in that interview. I am surprised Harding Lemay did not have a plane fall out of the sky on Pat's head after it was published.
  13. Are you able to post the article here? I would like to read it.
  14. While Corinne Jacker was a horrible head writer she did create some good characters - Cass and Stacey Winthrop, Henrietta Morgan, Thomasina Mason and Alma Rudder who was one of my all time favourites. After rewatching many episodes on YouTube from the eighties i have realized that December 1982 through February 1985 is really a great period for the show. If you have not done so I encourage you to watch.
  15. I recently stumbled across this article. I had no idea Beverly Penberthy was so vocal when the was written out. Good for her! She is completely accurate in everything she says. Paul Rauch should have done more to keep her in on the show. Corinne Jacker made many mistakes during her one year as head writer. Writing out Pat Matthews Randolph was her biggest mistake of all. Here is a link to Pat's final episode. Coincidentally it is also Kyra Sedgwick's first episode as Juia Shearer.
  16. Ada did use Hobson as her last name until she died. I liked L. Virginia Browne's stint as head writer but killing off Charlie Hobson was a mistake. He and Ada were so fun and cute together.
  17. It blows my mind that Harding Lemay could not see how talented Jaqueline Courtney was. His talent was remarkable but his ego did long term damage to Another World. I may be in the minority but I thought Ms. Courtney's 1984 was pretty good.
  18. I read somewhere that Harding Lemay toyed with the idea of bringing Bill back as having lived in Europe as a gigolo. Not sure how true it was though.
  19. I wish I could find the interview with DePriest, John Whitesell and Donna Swajeski (she worked at NBC then). They talked about how the were resetting the show around 3 families (Corys, Loves and McKinnnons) and Cass / Felicia. They literally bragged about how the cast was almost completely different. Found it! https://classicsodaw.tumblr.com/post/162125238869/classicsodnews-another-world-makes-its-move
  20. 1985 was definitely a mess which was so unfortunate because 1984 was one of my favourite years in AW's history. But at least in 1985 we had our favourites onscreen. 1986/1987 saw the elimination of the Matthews, Ewings and Hardings. In my opinion the show never truly recovered from Margaret DePriest's first stint.
  21. There was a scene where I think they said it had to do with Vince wanting a boy and when they had a girl they decided to keep the name that was already chosen.
  22. Don’t get me wrong. I loved 76-79. But for some reason i really liked 1984. The show was back on track and was a nice mix of the old and the new.
