  1. Speaking of Bea vs. Betty, Marc Cherry recently revealed that one of the legendary bits of lore is fiction. Bea didn't actually go to the bathroom on Betty's dressing room floor. The writers made that up as a joke, and somehow it became public. Side note: that type of revenge dates at least as far back as Bob Randall's 1976 novel The Fan, which became the 1981 Lauren Bacall-Michael Biehn flick.
  2. My soap memories begin in 1994, when my grandma retired and I was 5. She was an ABC fan. GH was something she watched daily, and she'd catch AMC and OLTL as often as she could (sometimes she'd end up taking a nap for slightly longer than mine was). Grandma never got into Loving. Anyway, the first things I definitely remember watching: GH -- Brenda taking a bath at the Quartermaine mansion and considering which guy she was gonna end up with (A.J., Jason, Ned, Jagger, or Sonny). AMC -- Kendall wheeling in Richard Fields. I also have a vague memory of Phoebe looking through a photo album and recalling family members ice skating. The memories become much clearer with the summer of 1994, and the return of Janet. OLTL -- Tina and Cain's wedding.
  3. "That's my boy." -- Kim
  4. Gerardo Celasco (f.k.a. Adrian Bellani, ex-PAS) and Jake Weary (ex-GL, ATWT) are in Kevin Williamson's latest, The Waterfront.
  5. Darn it! Thank you. For some odd reason, I thought the "III" represented the third generation, as opposed to a direct grandson. I thought Doug III was Steve Olson's grandson.
  6. Well, I suppose it does provide a genetic explanation for Doug III being so randy.
  7. I mean, who doesn't pop the question while half-dressed?
  8. Back in the summer of '69 ...
  9. Awesome, @slick jones! Thanks.
  10. Much appreciated, @DRW50. The 1989 one aired on my first birthday.
  11. I've mentioned it before, but Helen's acceptance speech for No, No, Nanette is incredibly touching.
  12. A scene I cannot wait to see. Julie Harris as Liliemae is the gift that keeps on giving; she's not outright evil, but frustrating, and in her own way, still pretty lovable.
  13. Irna wasn't involved with ATWT at the time of Neil's death, was she? I'm imagining a situation where right after his latest doctor's appointment, he's killed.
  14. Well, no wonder it lasted nearly two years!
  15. If a soap actor or behind the scenes figure was roasted at any point in time, who would you have at the main table? This topic came about when I imagined a Friends episode (Joey, of course, would bomb at roasting). The Roast of Deidre Hall, circa 1997 Roastmaster: Drake Hogestyn Roasters: Jed Allan, Wayne Northrop, Joseph Mascolo, Eileen Davidson, Christie Clark, Alison Sweeney, Ken Corday, James E. Reilly, Andrea Hall, Jane Elliot, James Reynolds, Shannen Doherty, Wilford Brimley, and Frances Reid.
  16. If J.R. wasn't busy with Ewing Oil, he'd be a heckuva soap recapper. He was SO gleeful at recapping Jenna-Bobby-Pam when the trio and Mark encountered each other at the Oil Baron's Ball. That being said, Lucy, presumably Sue Ellen and maybe Ray should all know this story, or at least part of it. Lucy was definitely at Southfork during Jenna and Bobby's relationship, and I believe Sue Ellen was about to marry J.R. around the time Jenna jilted Bobby. (Ray might not have given a damn.)
  17. I wonder if Linda Bloodworth-Thomason had Kim in mind for any of her other characters/series. If they intended Allison Sugarbaker (Julia Duffy's character) to be more in line with who Suzanne was/Delta Burke's portrayal-persona, then I think Kim would have aced that. Yes, it would have been odd, Kim having previously played a different character (from a different family), but Designing Women wouldn't have been the first show with that issue. Or maybe Kim could have played Beth Broderick's role on Hearts Afire. Or Patricia Heaton's role on Women of the House.
  18. My mistake. San Cristobal. I've seen it as Alamainia, Alamainland, and my personal favorite, Ubilam ("Malibu" spelled backwards). I was sticking to non-U.S. locations, but I suppose Aremid could have been Canadian. Ah, yes. Haiti?
  19. Would someone please refresh my memory as to where on the globe these fake soap locations were? I'll give my assumptions in parenthesis. Tanquir, AW (Morocco) Montega, ATWT (Argentina) San Cristobel, GL (British Virgin Islands) Baraq, Capitol (Iraq) Whatever the name of the Alamains' country was, DOOL (Yugoslavia)
  20. Interesting promo, @DRW50. I'm fascinated by CBS This Morning having on ABC stars. I wonder if they had any interest in reaching out to the NBC soaps.
  21. Slightly OT. Somehow I ended up following Kami Cotler (Elizabeth, the youngest one) on Facebook, or her posts just show on my feed. She's got some great info. about the ins and outs of retro TV production.
  22. From that same channel, Anything For Love, which failed to make NBC's 1985-86 schedule. With all due respect to Lauren Tewes and Vicki Lawrence, that this was under consideration seems less about their star power and/or chemistry and more that NBC wanted its own Kate & Allie. Still, kudos to Lauren for being rehabilitated enough in one year to already go on the comeback trail.
  23. I had to double-check and make sure it was a real pilot, and not some sort of AI thing. Seriously, how much more random can we get?
  24. Hurricane Sam, which failed to make CBS' 1990-91 schedule. Karen Valentine, Ben Savage (as Sam), Fran Drescher, Tim(othy) Stack, Kiersten Warren, Christopher Castile (as Fran's son!), and Ray Walston as Grandpa, plus featured guest Kurt Fuller. (God bless the producers who upload their busted pilots.)
