"The Conners" Discussion Thread
It's not on schedule for the winter, but was never going to be due to the nature of its small run and Metcalf/Goodman's other commitments. Articles say a decision will be made later in the spring.

TV Line gives Lecy props. Fred Savage will be directing tomorrow's episode (and possibly appearing?). Crystal is also back.

And I'm telling you that much of the time in the last 20 years a lot of those "consultants" were ignored unless they were network stakeholders like Brian Frons, Barbara Bloom or Angelica McDaniel. When you say they're accountable to the consultants, you're saying these writers' work has to get past them to air. It very regularly did without approval from many of the people who had a glorified title. The Bells have very, very little involvement with Y&R today. They are not controlling that show or its creative direction and have not in a number of years, going as far back as perhaps Lynn Marie Latham. This has been widely reported for over a decade. If you believe otherwise you are deeply misinformed. This sums up your posting history well.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
That's not how consulting on soaps works. The titles can be important but they are also often largely ceremonial. Many 'consultants' on soaps have ideas regularly dismissed and were just there as wallpaper, especially in the last 20 years. Including Agnes Nixon at AMC in much of the 2000s, and Kay Alden at Y&R in the last couple years. Their ideas and opinions were regularly dismissed by management, the EP or in some cases the HW. I have never heard any viable claim that Swajeski or Culliton or any other consulting writer had to clear the HWs' work at GL as consultants.- The Politics Thread
Ah, the New York Times: Shockingly, this piece comes from GOP-loving Jonathan Martin.- ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
I don't know why I am surprised to discover that Jessica Morris (Jen, OLTL) is starring in the new film from the director of Human Centipede - Onania Club, a film where the trailer consists of women masturbating to footage of 9/11. No, I didn't watch it and I'm not linking it.- HBO: Game of Thrones
Nathalie Emmanuel (Missandei) is the new lead of Hulu's Four Weddings and a Funeral series.- "The Conners" Discussion Thread
The show's ratings have remained solid this week. Assuming the cast wants to continue I suspect renewal is a lock, knock on wood.- Twin Peaks
The great Jay R. Ferguson (the loud FBI boss in Vegas - 'this is what we do in the FBI!'), who also starred as the dad on The Real O'Neals and co-starred with Sheryl Lee and Grace Zabriskie in the sadly-unreleased(?) indie The Makings of You - is now Sara Gilbert's boss/probable love interest on The Conners.- Twin Peaks

I have never found Chris Chibnall capable of producing a DW that meets the creative standards of Davies or Moffat, though they were neither without flaws. This opinion has not changed. If he goes it would be very foolish of her to do so. And it's ridiculous IMO for him to suggest he can't meet the yearly standard.- The Politics Thread

It had a natural drop but was still doing very, very well for the network. IIRC The Conners' numbers either match it or are quite close, which is still a good result for ABC.- ALL: Soap Stars - Where are they now?
Elisabeth Röhm (ex-Dorothy Hayes, OLTL) is playing Fox anchor Martha MacCallum in Jay Roach's big Fox News/Roger Ailes expose.- Twin Peaks

Maybe I'm jinxing it given it's only 10 AM my time, but it's lovely to have one day where Theresa May and the UK are having an even more balls-out ridiculous day than us. Twitter is lighting her up.- The Politics Thread
