I think it's likely more in the vein of his work on Years and Years or the better parts of the Saxon arc. I think now is the time to be bold, especially given the state of the UK.
  2. I... don't think any of the general public are seriously buying that at all. This is a laughingstock.
  3. Get ready for Fourth Ballot.
  4. McCarthy loses again. Third ballot time. Somehow I think Politico, etc. are regretting those cozying-up "McCarthy the Social Operator" pieces from the fall even more now than they were on Election Day.

Seems RTD is leaning into the political, and good for him: Seems to be some debate whether it's set in 2024 or 2046.
  6. She does look great there.
  7. Yes, I seem to remember that. Sarah Buxton had about two speeds as an actor, but people back then kept demanding she take on major roles on non-Reilly soaps. She supposedly was up for Tina on OLTL in that period and she was too young! She was not ready to play in the big leagues performance-wise either.
  8. 2023 is starting off rough and that's all I'm saying right now pending updates on several folks tonight.

I'm with you, esp on DMP. If it's true I wonder if they will recreate that finally.

  11. The Pointer Sisters still hold up.
  12. The usual lovefest so far from the parts I have watched. Maurice draws an unwise comparison between IR and Burton's exits and Sarah's choice to leave, which they allude to being partly about the story move to have Carly dime Sonny out to the feds. JFP/McTavish wrote that and it was always rumored to be part of the blowup that led to Sarah's exit.
  13. I think KT has the range of drywall and I just don't think 'bitchy' is a substitute for a nuanced personality. A lesson Ron Carlivati, who created her as a two-dimensional foil for the equally 2-D Sabrina, and his successors have had to fail to learn many times at various shows with various characters. They tried to fill Britt in after the fact with childhood trauma (and lean on the fairly forced relationship with Brad) and I've never bought it, because IMO Thiebaud is a deeply marginal actress. Folks' mileage may vary.
  14. I've had a hard copy of the bible since they used to sell them (reprinted in new binding) at DS cons. Mine is probably in storage back home now. I don't remember the bizarre ending of the proto-Jason McGuire (Walt Cummings) plotline, which was clearly (and understandably) designed here just to tread water and keep churning story. I had thought the "B. Hanscomb"/butler angle with Vicki hinted at in early episodes originated in backstory in the bible, but I can't find it here skimming it again. Maybe I've missed it or they invented it later.
  15. That's very kind of you all. My issues with aspects of the forum are no secret, and I have never claimed to be a god among men. What I value about SON, and what keeps me here in spite of any issues, as I've told people before, is the wealth of shared, storied history and first-hand knowledge or extensive research of a dying art form. It can't easily be synthesized or reproduced anywhere else. It's less lonely keeping a little piece of a flame when you have people who are making it a bigger flame with you. Happy new year.
  16. Granted I've always hated Britt, but did she really warrant not only a George Michael singalong but an OTT photo montage full of countless BTS shots for her farewell?
  17. I remember this. The look on her face says it all. (And Sean Connery, while being one of our greatest actors whose work I still enjoy, was allegedly brutal towards his first wife Diane Cilento, a brilliant actress in her own right who made her own career to Connery's chagrin.) And now, a loving tribute from a slightly less grim time in our lives:
  18. Barbara was a complex figure to say the least. But her legacy can't be denied.
