  1. Like, why do that to yourself? I cringed hearing it again the other day. Once was enough. I do find Cody and Molly juvenile, and once again I blame Infomercial Molly and the tired character in general lol.
  2. I'm just happy that very talented kid went on to quickly star on Broadway in a hit show (albeit a bad one) and swiftly come out. I think Howard is serviceable and has a nice body and some talent, but I think he's too interchangeable among the current mix already on GH to go there. If I was FV I might go after Bowers or Emily O'Brien, but it is a pity DAYS will lose her. And I guess Johnny - I did find that story with him and E.J. compelling despite Johnny being such a himbo.
  3. I actually really liked Tracy's cocktail hour with the family. (I don't know if Edward actually officially had one onscreen as she claimed, though they sure did drink in the study or wherever a lot.) It was vague shades of the old Abbott breakfasts on Y&R. They should do these kind of group Q tradition scenes more often, and Michael, etc. should warm up to it more. Jason can bring a beer!
  4. I think GH could use Emily O'Brien tbh.
  5. Nina was a priority for Mulcahey, because he clearly liked Cynthia Watros (I can't recall if he ever wrote for her at GL) and I suspect Drew/Nina was his endgame in that mother-daughter triangle. The relationship and understanding between them was being built and was given a lot of focus. Korte hates Nina and the old/new team generally has other priorities, so she's an afterthought now. Would I trade losing the Drew/Willow saga and Willow's ongoing metamorphosis for PM's original plan? Maybe not, but I wish there had been a best of both worlds situation.
  6. I remember @carolineg (hi caroline! we miss you in the GH thread) telling me Tate and Holly were one of the younger set she would keep not long ago. They were appealing enough to watch during the various memorial/anniversary months last year, even if as a lapsed fan this last decade-plus who only looks in on the show occasionally I barely understand who tf they are. I do like Chanel and Johnny, well, Johnny has nice nipples. Given my casual viewing I can hardly dispute @Errol if he feels DAYS has largely survived by luck since the Peacock move. I just figured they were more secure after the last few years and the latest renewal, and tbqh I am so used to these recurring Corday purges of the wrong cast while not overhauling the larger show (which is actually necessary, and which Corday will never do) that I was kind of numb to it. But it's clear the budget is at the bottom. And you're all right that they should've much more massive changes to the show long ago. I see a lot of worthwhile potential in it still when I've tuned in off and on for weeks at a time in the last year. Unfortunately they're once again firing a ton of it.
  7. They've got much bigger priorities than Cady's side character atm. I still suspect they probably planned to tie off the Carlton thread gradually like this before she got more serious with Kial Rollins. Even when he first appeared you still had some folks on social media moaning about Nicole not going for thirsty Carlton instead. I do agree it's past time to see GV again though, and that Carlton is deeply dull. He's a planned obstacle IMO.
  8. We all said DAYS was on its last legs when it moved to Peacock. That was four years ago. It currently has a 2-year renewal. I am never counting it out at this point. I just think this is typical Corday churn and burn through people, some of which they will inevitably bring back off and on. It's too bad this show can never find more stability. Leo Howard could hypothetically do well at GH as Cameron or something, but he's too similar to some of the young men they already have or could have.
  9. I took it as post-Helmut per their discussion, but I could be wrong.
  10. All true, including the rest of your post. Kristina and Jacinda sound like a recipe for watching paint dry. Putting aside the fact that I think Kristina is marking time and about to get cut, the actress playing Jacinda can't keep up with Mansi, let alone Gibson.
  11. Erich von Stroheim's long-lost Queen Kelly starring Gloria Swanson, shut down mid-production by Swanson after firing von Stroheim, has been restored and partially reconstructed. This new version is now touring the country. I'm sure it will stream very soon. I saw the TCM assemblage of the existing footage years ago, but this is apparently something new.
  12. Susan Lucci (no reference necessary) mentions in today's appearance on the Soapy podcast that she is featuring in Keanu Reeves and Jonah Hill's upcoming black comedy film Outcome for Apple TV. Upon checking the IMDB page it also features young Cary Christopher (Thomas DiMera, DAYS), recently seen in Weapons.
  13. I died at Budig rightly noting that Greenlee used to be a homophobic bully. "I called her Lesbianca! You couldn't get away with that now!" I haven't heard anyone from the show mention that in over 20 years. For those keeping track of the family drama, Susan also offhandedly mentions having a multi-generational family dinner including her daughter following Helmut's death.
  14. For those keeping track of the family drama, Susan also offhandedly mentions having a multi-generational family dinner including her daughter following Helmut's death. Susan is also appearing in the Apple film Outcome with Keanu Reeves and Jonah Hill this year(?), and talks about it here. Apparently Jonah Hill was an AMC fan.
  15. Just making sure @Khan doesn't miss this! It's also in the AMC thread. I might have to get the book just to see Agnes' letters (though it sounds like a great read). I am glad to hear Agnes kept writing the show in her head, much as so many of us have done with our favorite soaps that have gone by.
  16. I agree and badly want him with Tracy, but this is what we're dealing with for now.
  17. The one and only is on Rebecca Budig and Greg Rikaart's (excellent) Soapy podcast available on YT tomorrow.
  18. It doesn't surprise me about his body. Cameron has always kept in shape. I respect him that much more after seeing the director's cut of 54 which he shot right before or after becoming a star at AMC, where he plays gay in a small role and IIRC has a kiss with his character's boyfriend. (That was all cut by the Weinsteins at Miramax BITD) Amusingly Neve Campbell's role was based on Karen Lynn Gorney from AMC. Anyway what was I talking about? I should say that if only they'd had the visiting Ronnie be privy to some element of the shooting by being an accidental nearby witness, that could've been something to play. As it was the whole story stopped dead to use Erika Slezak, and while I love Erika and she did good work it was not necessary for that material to be as weak as it was.
  19. This was on Twitter c/o some enterprising fan Ia few weeks back. I'd forgotten this little scene in fall 2013. IIRC they hadn't announced Genie was out yet (she had refused to go on recurring for FV/ABC after her short run contract), but you could tell it was their last. Better than I remember, and clearly not much acting. I don't remember Luke and Laura's last scenes together in 2015; that story was so bad, I seem to remember their goodbye being perfunctory and I was shocked she didn't share his last scenes or his last airdate. Anyway, Laura breaking down immediately while mentioning Luke on Friday's show reminded me of this.
  20. When it comes to nuance I would focus more on the things Drew has lost, like a sort of wistful reconnection with Jake who probably wouldn't be able to stomach him either atm but remembers how much he adored him growing up and how they were intensely close, which shames Drew a bit, or Drew reflecting on how he once considered Danny his son as well and is now actively terrorizing him daily. And Drew's love for Sam, where I don't think either ever fully recovered from leaving him any more than Kelly Monaco did. Her life with Jason was never the same after that. It's from examining that stuff (or looking at if Willow is kind of a subconscious replacement for Kim and his forgotten youth, etc.) that you can find something more in the character, even if he remains a distinct sh!theel.
  21. It's days like this you regret that the Quartermaines are one of the few rich families on soaps without their own underground secret rooms. That's where Martin should be.
  22. A lovely series of posts @vetsoapfan .
