  1. I see Carlo Rota's skills with heavy drama have not improved since 24.
  2. I still don't understand what bringing Sarah Brown onto ATWT as another Julia was about. That had to be some other shoe to drop that they just nixed instead. Did the Eric/Caitlin thing actually air? I remember hearing about that. Not since Ridge and Bridget...
  3. Because part of the show clearly doesn't want to give them major story but (IMO) CVE still loves them. I think if it'd been left up to Korte both of them would have been dead or gone long ago. I may be projecting wildly onto him but IIRC CVE came up under Carlivati alongside Dan O'Connor. The vibe I get is all of those dudes enjoy camp and divas. Of who's left on staff in a deciding role, he is probably the guy who thought everyone would love Round 3 of Britt/Brad the fierce LGBT representation, Rocco joining the Obrecht family, etc. And I think he's also the guy that thinks as long as Maura and Watros are diva'ing it up in silly little B or C-stories it's still worthwhile. I don't. I think it is a waste of time and space for Maura and the Ava character. She should be more actively scheming with/against Sidwell and moving to supplant him, or not at all. And Nina's role should begin to wind down.
  4. I think the show has many problems, which are still not unusual for an early soap, and many things I can roast that most other people already have. (I have as well from time to time) I'm giving it its time and I am a devoted viewer, but some weeks it can be a real slog. Whatever I prescribed for the show to change or fix though - and I'd do many things lol - none of them would involve just taking the show away from MVJ outright, where this has been her dream for decades. You also couldn't get away with that today with the first(?) Black soap creator on American network television, not in this day and age. Not going to happen.
  5. Britt was deader than Marco. But no, I think he's done. Real sad. Exactly. I do not care in the slightest.
  6. I think they all had feuds and personal dramas or petty bullshít lol. Some we know of, some we don't. What they didn't have and RC did was Twitter. Which was probably for the best for all involved. I cannot imagine Lemay on Twitter.
  7. I thought Marco was Eloi.
  8. Very happy to finally see Jaleesa again. I never liked her disappearing, even though I believe it was because Dawnn got Mr. Cooper. (She's also been so great on Star Trek: Lower Decks)
  9. I thought he had real chemistry with Ryan Carnes, which made GH and Carlivati abandon the clear plan for Lucas ending up with RC's then-avatar Felix in the early '10s. (Brad was initially supposed to be just the spoiler) But that was over a decade years ago and Brad has become so much more pathetic since then, and still has minimal depth. I lost all patience I once had for Brad long ago.
  10. That is absolutely what they are going to do and they have been signposting it in dialogue since before Brad returned onscreen. For Chris Van Etten and perhaps others on staff, Britt and Brad are all the fabulous LGBT representation GH ever needs. This started with Ron Carlivati working way too hard to try to make them 'fun' years ago with a lot of forced merriment, and (previously) ended with Britt's last sendoff which featured a gaggle of drag queens and an inexplicably large amount of real life home movies and childhood pictures of KT. You would've thought Elton John was leaving the show as opposed to a heterosexual cisgendered woman who occasionally said bitchy things. They have been way too fond of this duo for a long time. Parry Shen has no romantic chemistry with Van and the character is beyond pathetic, but we're definitely expected to root for them back together again so Britt and Brad can kiki out about it in a few months. Representation!
  11. When he wasn't doing that he could be captivating, and probably still can be. His work late in OLTL and then at GH varied wildly in those swings from good to awful. But he got very enamored of his own hype a long time ago. Hopefully time away might change that.
  12. Emphasis on 'compared to.' There's still a lot of mess on this show.
  13. Many anniversary eps were, for all sorts of contrived reasons lol. I don't remember the one from '98 at all but I know it happened.
  14. I don't recall it either, so much of that time was taken up with the gross Georgie Phillips climax with Todd. It was not a great period.
  15. I'd forgotten too but I'm pretty sure it was in '98. The 30th anniversary.
  16. Classic Jill. The story about the DAYS budget does not surprise me.
  17. All true. Though he was running on fumes before he got fired from GH. It was also a fatal mistake dumping almost all of the longtime GH dialogue staff.
  18. The real Nathan would've taken Rocco in (not that I am advocating for that). Whether "Nathan" is conscious of his choice or not, him bringing Lulu in on the cover-up is manipulation, on par with what Willow recently did to Alexis over Scout. It gives him and Sidwell leverage over Lulu and Rocco. Play ball down the line or they drop a dime on Rocco.
  19. MEK is on recurring, he should not have 'an annual vacation.' He is not on a contract with the show, they only use him at their convenience.
  20. Not counting David and Cara's very young son Oliver from AMC 2.0, it would probably be Ian Slater or Gabby Montgomery. The Mormon-esque gaggle of too many kids near the end of the show has haunted my mind for over a decade.
  21. Never in my life thought I'd hear of Matthew Twining again. The article is wrong though, he was only on for about a year.
  22. I do, I thought it was a lovely romance for Viki with Charlie, a solid intro for Gigi and Shane as well as dovetailing beautifully with the Marcie on the run story, ending very well with the hostage crisis with Marcie at the diner with Viki. One of the best (and last) wholly cohesive stories Ron ever did, because he was not yet high on his own supply at that time. That changed quickly. I haven't watched the episode yet. Not sure when I will. I'm not surprised Ron brought up his feuds. He can't let anything go and was still negging people at GH re: the 60th anniversary a couple years ago. I don't think it can be debated that Ron gave OLTL its last renaissance, and I was very pleased with it initially. But there were as many low lows as great highs over the next few years, often in the same moment in time. I loved and hated a lot of things, and some of it has aged even worse since. I also don't think it can be debated that he and Frank saved GH, both with fun stories or good stories alongside some purely rubbernecking ridiculous or offensive ones. Very few HWs in daytime are just one thing, just binary 'good' or bad'. RC is no different. I think he's well past his prime and previous perspective these days, but he could always surprise me again. I know I'd rather watch his work than a number of others still working, for the good, bad or ugly. But I also don't think it's terrible that he's not currently HWing a soap. I think his extended glory run at ABC was bad for his talent and at times both good and bad for daytime. I'm sure he'll turn up somewhere again, but while I miss some things about his better work fondly I don't miss the feuds, the petty jabs and the tone-deaf approach to so many important issues or character beats.

    Tom commemorates Logopolis.
  24. I think so, with his performance art pals who then got featured on the show as part of a bizarre remote with Franco fighting Jason. Except I believe it was LACMA.
