  1. Didn't she also get into a beef with ABC about the length of her hair? It seems that Sarah was very vocal about her character and what she should look like, and I have to say she was right (and was certainly a classic Labine/Mayer character under her watch). Maybe ABC decided they just didn't want to deal with her anymore in 1980 when they bought the show from Labine/Mayer.
  2. Jennifer Runyon, who was playing Sally then, commented on those episodes on Facebook. "I was a baby!" LOL Of course, Brady fans got a kick out of seeing her with Chris Knight (as Leigh Hobson). She said he was the only person she knew when she took over for Susan Olsen in A Very Brady Christmas.
  3. Finally, FINALLY there is some momentum in the Liz/Townsend story - and Matt is seeing that Phillip is losing it. All I can say is - it's about freaking time. I had another email from Carolee, where she answered a couple of questions I and no doubt others watching have been wondering about - such as what the actors were saying in the scenes underneath the credits with the theme music drowning out their words, and also who her best friends in the cast were aside from David O'Brien: "Please forgive me for taking so long to return your email. I’ve been in New York where I got sick and brought the sickness home with me. I’m only now beginning to recover. It was lovely of you to forward Jami Fields’ letter. I never knew her very well. She was quite young when she was on the show with me and we didn’t have much in common. You ask if any cast members were close to me besides David. I was quite close to Sally Gracie. I adored her. I was also close to Jim Pritchett and his family. While it’s true that everyone spent a lot of time together while we were at work, our lives were quite divergent with different interests. Other than the cast, I was close to the sound man and one of the directors. We definitely staying in character during the crawl and ad libbed what the character might have continued to say. Why? Because of all the viewers who can read lips. Continuing fine regards to you, Carolee" Today, I had another TD autograph success, although this lady is not in the reruns we're seeing as she would join the cast later on. That would be Jennifer Houlton, who grew up onscreen as Greta. Not only did she sign the screen caps I had sent, she added another of her as Greta holding baby Lee Ann as well as a sweet handwritten note. What a doll. I will send the pictures to Carl or jam so they can display them here (one of these days I will have to start a Photobucket account so I can post pictures here myself). Speaking of Jennifer Houlton, here is an interview with her from 1980. Apparently, she was very close off-screen to her TV parents, Jim Pritchett and Lydia Bruce. https://news.google.com/newspapers?nid=1870&dat=19800316&id=_4sfAAAAIBAJ&sjid=NtMEAAAAIBAJ&pg=2646,426415&hl=en
  4. They could have easily passed for brothers, and I believe they were also in one or two of the same Battle of the Network Stars specials. I've seen a few of those on ESPN Classics, and Billy was one of the most gifted athletes of all the network stars assembled (same goes for Mark Harmon).
  5. She could act, sing, was gorgeous - and from everything I've read and heard, was just as beautiful on the inside. So sad that she went so young.
  6. It's a shame that Sarah Felder never did another soap again - or any other screen role. She was a force of nature.
  7. Great blog, Timmy, thank you for sharing!!
  8. Is it just me, or did Billy Moses look a lot like Dean Butler (LHOP) back then?
  9. vetsoapfan, did you get to see AW (and Jacquie/Alice) right from its beginning? Or did you start watching when George Reinholt/Steve came on?
  10. It's all in the recasts - when Ava Lazar and Linda Gibboney were on the show, Santana was the strong one and Gina was weak. When Gina Gallego and Robin Mattson played the roles, Gina was strong and Santana was weak. While Gina Gallego seems like an absolute sweetheart from the interviews I've read with her, I just didn't like the character. However, I believe that had more to do with the writing than GG's portrayal.
  11. I still think it's a shame that the now-defunct SoapNet would quit showing reruns after 1981, and would just go back to the beginning of 1975. There had to be a way to work through copyrights, or whatever the issue was.
  12. I think that plot did eventually lead to Frank and Jill finally tying the knot (in his hospital room).
  13. That was great! When was the last time a soap magazine had a gardening column? Thank you, Carl.
  14. All I know about it is that a lot of RH fans say it was the last great story the show ever did. It was penned by the returning Labine/Mayer, and Charlotte Greer claimed to have married Frank in the time he was off the show (DHK departed in 1981 and GP took over the role in 1983).
  15. That would be great, thanks.
  16. I didn't even know she and Tim Hagan had divorced. I wonder if his alleged involvement in the infamous Cuyahoga County (where Cleveland is located) corruption scandal put too much strain on their relationship.
  17. Here is an article about Pam Toll and her then-husband, Jim DeVault, from Old-House Journal in late 1999. Pam is the mother of four - two daughters and twin sons. https://books.google.com/books?id=u4io40z5UZwC&pg=PT13&lpg=PT13&dq=pamela+toll+devault&source=bl&ots=DAbtRpk4KZ&sig=AuUKq8wYMYvN3IjWsAgqA1Tfw20&hl=en&sa=X&ei=ydg2VerLMae_sQTT9oHIAg&ved=0CB8Q6AEwAA#v=onepage&q=pamela%20toll%20devault&f=false Someone upthread asked me if I had gotten in touch with either her or C.C. Courtney. I had written him an email (he has an email address listed on his website - cccourtney.com) a few weeks back and got a reply just yesterday. Here's what he said: "Hello Monika, So sorry I didn't answer you sooner but your message got designated as read when it hadn't been. So, thank you for your kind comments. I really enjoyed doing The Doctors and learned a lot from it. I'll tell you some more details when I get through the project I'm now working on and have some time. CC" I believe I posted this before (or on the WATN page), but here is a video with Jami from 2012 - with her natural reddish hair. She does look and sound just about the same - except she doesn't say "groovy" once. LOL
  18. I know that Peter Falk never appeared on the Mrs. Columbo show, but I can't even imagine him and Kate Mulgrew playing a married couple. She looks more like his daughter than his wife, but on the other hand, her RH husband Michael Levin was about the same age as Mr. Falk.
  19. That would have been inspired casting, as both had played Y&R's Ashley.
  20. Thanks for posting them - and thanks also for mentioning Sally Gracie's gardening column. You wouldn't happen to have any of them around, would you?
  21. I saw that reunion. She's barely aged - same goes for Billy Moses.
  22. Sure - here you go: http://santabarbara-online.com/InterviewALazar2.htm
