Y&R: Old Articles
From what I've read, Stuart Brooks asked Brad Eliot (who had a psychology background though no one knew that) to write a series of articles for the Chronicle when Chris was raped, and in this way they were able to have him discuss it and get some topical information to the audience. They also showed Chris working with the Rape Crisis Center like Cricket did. There's an interesting documentary here about Cricket's storyline and how many times they filmed the scenes to get them correct (thanks @YRfan23 for alerting me to this) and Bill Bell is asked if he'd still do these stories even if the ratings sank. His answer is very honest! (for @Contessa Donatella there is an interview with Linda Dano at the end too and I know you're a big AW fan)

Y&R: Old Articles
Y&R had a really solid track record for treating rape seriously and not making it romantic. It was horrifying when they later put Cricket and Michael together. The Jabot takeover story was fantastic material, but Jack wasn't well utilized elsewhere. He didn't have a love interest and he was in a weird supporting role in the Brad cage storyline. Nina I would say had a slow start to the year but then a lot of excellent material with the marriage to Phillip, his death, inheritance, battling with Jill, and being wooed by David. Ashley was sort of like a real widow in that she didn't get that much action all year and threw herself into her work.

Y&R: Old Articles
She's very level-headed and honest about it. I like that she said even she thought she was on too much at times. In 1989, the year Terry left, she had three big stories: finding her father in spring, her date rape and the trial that summer, and her mother dying of AIDS that fall. The rape story was one of the best I've seen - she was outstanding and I could honestly argue she deserved a nomination for it. The other two stories I didn't care for as much and could take it or leave it, and all combined it was a lot (though arguably more interesting than the storylines from 1988 about her love life and her having four different guys in love with her). Someone had posted a comment she made at the time of Terry's comment that she was very proud of the stories they did during the teen scene because they covered a number of important social issues. Terry had some legitimate issues with his material (other than the excellent Jabot takeover storyline) but his comments about Lauralee were probably more about hitting the Bell family where it hurts. Sure, she had a lot of airtime but you could also argue a newish character like Cassandra ate the show. I'm glad they made up and I vaguely remember Jerry Douglas also talking about that visit Terry made to the set when he was ill and saying similar things. It's very sad. It was the perfect role for him and he wish he could have worked it out and stayed. This is so heartwarming!

I'm behind and have no idea what you're talking about but I vote to kill her off!

Y&R: Old Articles
I really liked the format of the video. It reminds me of so many interviews with the old Dark Shadows actors. It would have been a nice 50th anniversary project to interview 70s cast members like Julianna McCarthy, Robert Colbert, Tom Hallick, etc and have them share recollections and clips.

NLG will have some outstanding material if Sam dies finding the gun that clears her of murder. They spent lots of money on that water tank so someone has to drown once a month.

Wow!!! That's super rare and cool! Probably from his personal collection. I had no idea what he even looked like. Love the way this video was staged, with him in character telling the story. Feels like he honors his time on the show considering how he gets into it! If only the clips were longer. His acting is great. I'll need to re-read the SOD recaps. I don't remember reading about a scene with a bear, or him finding religion although I know he was trying to prove he was a fit parent. Thanks so much 😍

Y&R: Amy Lewis Returning
Just saw this. Yeah, this is a mess. She'll be nothing like Amy and may as well be a new character. Comical. Theories: In anticipation of BTG, Josh Griffith literally asked the Y&R historian for a list of past African American characters and is randomly bringing them back. (TBH this is the most likely.) She's bringing Paul back from Portugal. (Not gonna happen!) She was a PI, is now a cop and will be Chance's boss if he goes back to the force (They might even create a tiny office for her that can only be filmed from one angle!) Something to do with Nathan and Nate. (Maybe they will bring Nathan back from the dead 🤣). What's next? Tyrone? Jazz? Dr. Stephanie Simmons?

Sounds boring.

I wish she would just do a long form interview on Zoom instead of the passive aggressive social media stuff.

GH: More of Laura's family returning
More like Laura's invented retcon family. At least Cyrus is interesting. I find Martin pointless other than being able to claim another AMC star.

I just can't see what Chance will do if there is no police set and the action scenes will all be narrated from the coffeehouse though.

AMC: Lifetime TV Movie Franchise Announced
I've been saying for a while they should do this with the old soaps. Cheap to produce, built in audience, endless amount of actors and storylines to draw upon and they can create a new generation... but without the pressure of having to create a series and keep the ratings up. People who like these movies but aren't familiar with the soaps would probably still watch since they'd be standalone. I'm surprised Michael Damian didn't think of it.

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
Ah, thanks @rsclassicfanforever for asking about the other shows even if the news is disappointing! B&B certainly is the perfect show for this sort of release... only 30 minutes, less than 4 decades and with great narrative continuity where a current viewer could watch day 1 and perfectly understand what's going on and even recognize some of the sets! (But, I'm not sure what a viewer from 1987 would think of today's show :D)

GH: AMC actress as the New Lulu Spencer
I've never really watched her work, but she looks the part and has to be better than Rylan.

B&B: Old/Classic Discussion & Articles
Yeah I'm kind of shocked because DVD is becoming obsolete and it's a one time purchase vs having to pay monthly for streaming and hasn't it been like a decade since the first release?? I feel like it's a great sign that the Bells are still working these deals and there's still interest. It shows that putting the show on YT for free has actually not hurt them. Perhaps German fans were interested in the streaming episodes and they determined there was a market for the dubbed version. Soap fans skew older and may be less likely to be fluent in English.

ALL: End of an Era: Are Daytime Soaps Washing Away?
The sad thing is that this is all true, and the networks have finally determined that they can keep the soaps on the air if they just keep cutting the operating budget and try to never do any storylines that are controversial or will rock the boat to keep the loyal audience they do have. It's all a math game now. There was a time when the soaps were fiercely fighting to grow their audience, and a lot of was very cringe (Reva's clone!) but they were trying. Now GH is the only one that halfheartedly tries (writing shakeups, bringing back popular actors). Maybe that's because they're in last place of the soaps on network TV. Then you have Y&R who must have some exec who sits and decides if characters are going to a concert, will they just have them recap it in the coffee house or spring a couple of bucks to use green screen. It's beyond embarrassing and super hard for me to see how this airs on the same network that's investing in a new soap.

I was expecting her to take it out at the gravesite but obviously not complete the act... Britney Spears' paternal grandmother died that way, at her baby's grave. I caught that when Kristina was talking about "Adela" that Alexis sort of cringed and said "the baby"... poor woman is never going to be able to refer to her granddaughter by name at the risk of offending one daughter or the other.
