  1. Was the arched wooden doorway with the wrought iron peephole in Marlena's penthouse? It was memorable, but seemed out of place with the rest of the architecture. Also, remember the silly scene in the Melaswen plot when Doc fell from the balcony of her penthouse on the Friday cliffhanger, but landed on an awning?
  2. Andy Samberg's take on Doug Harris is dumb and juvenile. Is the joke that the VP's husband is docile because he is taking on a feminine role? And between the cold open and that gross hamburger eating contest sketch, the whole episode seemed to rely on the actor's breaking character to laugh. Which is an old trick to try to convince the audience that something is hilarious, even though it is not. Finally, haven't we learned that stand-up comedians, with no background in improv humor, are poorly suited to host SNL?
  3. Both Brady and EJ could focus on being fathers and businessmen for a while. The constant focus on romantic pairings of middle-aged characters, without any exploration of the origin of the attraction, or their prior romantic failures, is my pet peeve.
  4. That makes perfect sense, thanks for the update. I still think someone should give Brady some insight that going from Theresa to Fiona to Kristen is not a healthy pattern. But, I assume Doc doesn't know about Fiona.
  5. I vote for Abe as the patriarch. Not only is it rare for a soap to have a Black patriarch, but Abe is also not compromised by prior sexual relationships. His adjunct father-figure role with Nicole could easily be replicated with both Holly and Ava. He is a morally upstanding guy, and he's not a marble-mouth like Roman. He is Horton-adjacent through Eli. It would be nice if he and Paulina got a bigger place to live, and holidays could be celebrated at their home.
  6. It is pretty seamless because they tied in Eric through his prior vehicular manslaughter of Daniel. But, it also fits with Marlena and Brady's scene this week, which included exposition about John's absence during Brady's arrest. If soap.com had not referenced the Fall Preview, I would not have assumed it was re-written.
  7. I posted this in the October thread, but soaps.com is reporting that Eric's current storyline investigating Sarah's accident was written for Drake, but due to his illness, Greg Vaughan stepped in and took over that part of the plot.
  8. I just read an interesting preview, which suggests that Eric's whole investigation into Sarah's accident was supposed to be a John storyline, but Drake was too sick. I like Eric, but I sort of wish Steve and/or Jada was also more involved in the solving the crime. It would be nice if the Salem PD finally solved a crime on their own for once. Especially because Jada kind of dropped the ball on the whole Connie thing, by never going into the room where Melinda was being held because the hospital called about Rafe.

A remarkable quote from the same article, it polled worse than Megalopolis! "the fanboys full-out rejected the sequel last night on PostTrak with a 1/2 star and 40% positive. Holy guacamole, Batman. Did the Megalopolis cynics show up last night? Because that’s the same Thursday night grade (actually 45% positive) that the Francis Ford Coppola-directed $120M dystopian epic received a week ago before inching up to one star on PostTrak."
  10. I was saddened to read in Richard Dean Anderson's blog (aka GH-Jeff Webber), that he continues to struggle with chronic pain that forced his retirement from acting. https://www.rdanderson.com/updates/notes.htm
  11. It could also be fun if each sibling inherited a specific trait from Stefano. Kristen could be megalomaniacal Stefan could be fiercely loyal to his family And EJ could have his father's fatal weakness, an obsession with a woman he could never have. Although, I guess, Kristen is the most likely to be obsessed, EJ has a family to be loyal toward, which makes Stefan the most likely to be interested in world domination.
  12. We often reference when both Drake and Deidre were fired in 2008/2009 (fired in November 2008, left in January 2009). But even after they returned, weren't there multiple times when it seemed like DAYS was trying to get rid of John? For example, I forget if he was shot by EJ before or after 2009, and then he was in a coma a few times. But, when Xander shot Marlena, and during the whole fatal orchid story, it never seemed Ms. Hall was on her way out the door. Am I the only one who feels like they tried to get rid of the character a couple of times over the past decade?
  13. I enjoy EJ's scenes with Stefan and Kristen, even though their conflict feels very inorganic and not character-driven. So, I wish there was more interaction between the siblings in order to define the agenda of the Dimeras, and differentiate them from the Kiriakis clan. The stories of who gets to be CEO, and who is in love, have been well trodden at this time, and we need a fresh perspective.
  14. So, it is official that Alex's only function is to be topless on a weekly basis. I actually thought the actor did a good job when the scab writing focused on his conflict over being able to be monogamous. But, now we are back to moon-eyed Alex, who has completely forgotten about his affair with Kristen. He's got nothing to say about Brady sleeping with his ex-fiance, and then going back to drinking. He's at peace with Xander taking over the business. He's not speaking with Tate, who was going to be his step-son. He's no longer in touch with Maggie. Justin didn't seem to work with him as his agent, like he did for Bonnie. And he's lost all of his shirts in the move out of the mansion. I'll wait to see how it plays out, but my main question in the F-Abby saga remains, what do the Greene's have to lose by telling the truth? I know Clyde has their mother, but he is in prison, and would never know if they colluded with Chad to double-cross him. It just makes them seem dumb, that they never question Clyde's reach, now that he is in a maximum security prison. On the plus side: It is good to see B&S getting balanced with other, more interesting (IMHO) stories.
  15. That, to me, was the shock of the day. I thought the whole thing about the plastic surgery was a lie. Because, if they forced her to get plastic surgery, why wouldn't they make her look like Marci Miller? Also, why do all of EJ's stories get resolved in a day? He's fired as the DA, then immediately gets rehired. He's going to sue Stefan, then immediately takes it back. He wants to be CEO, then he immediately goes back to being a DA. The dude is very wishy-washy. And are we going for a Gabi/EJ/Stefan triangle or not? Today, Gabi no longer seemed compelled by EJ. But, when she woke up from the explosion, it appeared like she was interested in EJ. Finally, it's funny that Gabi is staying in the hospital longer than Sarah. Even Rafe is getting discharged first.
  16. I wonder if they'll do two big memorials requiring cast returns within a few months of each other (Doug and John)? Especially after Victor's funeral last year. Also, given the recency of Drake's passing, I don't know if they'd be able to write it in time for the 60th. Which I assume has already been filmed. I hope they will honor him, but I also hope the 60th will be a bit lighter in tone, and focus on a variety of historical events.
  17. I appreciate that the Dimera's are finally going to market some of Rolf's inventions. I mean, it has to be the longest running, privately funded, medical research in history at this point. But, can you imagine trying to get it approved by the FDA? FDA: Has this method been proven to work on humans? Rolf: Well, my cerebral microchips showed some progress until there was radio interference. And I lowered the cost of brainwashing by using a salad colander. But, when I tried to sell my custom masks to Spirit Halloween, they complained the latex was not hypoallergenic.
  18. Agreed, just as I am curious if Charity Rahmer has posted anything 😉 (a little dark humor can be a helpful coping mechanism).
  19. Here's the thing, if Dr. Mark Greene did the surgery to reverse Sarah's paralysis, then you get an umbrella story. Suddenly, Xander, Sarah, and Maggie are beholden to Mark. We get some sympathy built up, so when the F-Abby reveal comes, there's some conflict. But, Rolf's just going to take off on his submarine, and everyone will forget about it in a month. Until Fiona is revealed.
  20. I'm a long time Anna-stan, and I would be so happy if they began to play Anna and Carrie together more often. It always felt like such a shame that Anna and Tony didn't get to have a kid together, but I am glad that she and Carrie will share scenes.
  21. Maggie: Xander, what are you doing with a gun? Xander: Nothing, just for protection Maggie: Oh OK (totally forgetting he's a former kidnapper, drug mule, who shot Marlena, and has a vendetta against Brady) I thought Maggie was smarter after Konstantin, but it was rather easy to appease her. Also, why is Kristen even on Marlena's radar? They haven't spoken in months. Brady didn't bring her up. The last time she met with Brady, she noted that he still loved Theresa. So, why is she suddenly focused on Kristen? Finally, I hate that they are going back to the well of Rolf magically curing people. Firstly, why would Sarah, a woman of science, take Rolf's cure? Secondly, it feels like such a cop out to keep going back to the same resolve for every storyline that needs to be reversed.
  22. Welcome, also https://www.tumblr.com/classicsodamc
  23. Especially because there's a clock on the wall of the set. I assume Sarah is on Parental or Sick Leave, but is she never going back to being a doctor? She can see patients from a wheelchair. Also, I thought Kayla was Chief of Staff once Craig left. Who's this new guy? Or, did he take over when Kayla was frozen?
  24. The men in Salem have it so easy. Gabi was charged, but never convicted of murder, yet she was thrown in prison, beaten, and put in solitary. Brady is charged with attempted murder, but he's sitting in the police station, taking multiple visitors with any interference from guards or police, and still wearing his jacket.
  25. Oh man, it is the most difficult spelling to recall. I need a pneumonic, especially when it comes to Lords and Loves. As well as all the double and single L's of OLTL locations. But that: I know, wrong one...
