  1. The conflict over Amy accepting Johnny and Chanel as adoptive parents has zero consequences. Sophia has stated that she's going to be 18 by the time she gives birth. So, she can let anyone she wants to adopt the baby. Amy could be Chanel's sworn enemy, and it wouldn't matter. So, why I am supposed to care about anything that happens in the preview regarding their story? We know some other conflict will arise, so this just feels like treading water.
  2. Just once, I'd like to see a woman on a soap opera take a pregnancy test, and not be pregnant. Also, Joy's unemployed, why not pee on a stick like a normal person?
  3. It may be an unpopular opinion, but @TEdgeofNight has always been a hardcore RC fan. And, variety is the spice of life. So, I don't think it is difficult to understand. I don't enjoy the dialogue (for which RonC is not responsible), but I give him respect for some unique plot twists. For example, the Xander/Alex name confusion over the will, and his surprising take on evil twins/amnesia with the current Arnold plot. He rarely sticks the landing, but many of his initial story ideas are intriguing. And, you have to respect his passion for the history of soaps. Unlike Jamey, who I feel is a hack, RonC is a soap fan that made his dreams come true, and that is worthy of admiration.
  4. Last night while scrolling through TikTok, I stumbled across several posts from younger Black women talking about BTG, and I have to say, I was intrigued. The first wave of comments had me laughing. Three different women all said they enjoyed the pilot, but were concerned about having to watch it every single day. They each mentioned how their grandmothers watched soaps religiously but admitted they didn’t realize what a serious commitment it was. One even asked, “What is Gen Z supposed to do? Wait for the next day to stream? Binge five episodes at a time?” I found it hilarious that they seemed overwhelmed by the sheer volume of content, especially since this is the same generation that can binge hours of true-crime documentaries without batting an eye. The second most common comments brought up colorism. Quite a few posters pointed out the contrast between the light-skinned and dark-skinned characters. Specifically, they noted how Dani, who is light-skinned, had her husband leave her for a darker-skinned woman. I don't have a strong opinion on the topic, but it was interesting to see the conversation unfold. Lastly, there were a few comments about Karla Mosley’s over-the-top acting. There were clips of her walking, yelling, and staring wide-eyed at other characters, and people were asking if this was standard soap opera behavior. The consensus seemed to be that her style felt anachronistic—and unintentionally hilarious.
  5. Two questions for the group How did Peter develop “jungle madness”? Did he still have it when he went to prison? I know he was released by 2019, when they last mentioned him on screen. But, do we think that they'll reference this very passé/soapy term if he ever returns?
  6. Also, I know ethics are not a concern in the Salem Universe, but Kayla's going to run a DNA sample without the patient's consent or a court order? No wonder that hospital is going bankrupt, their liability insurance must be extremely expensive, and they run DNA tests for free.
  7. I got confused, because didn't Kayla say that they needed to compare Arnold's sample to Rafe?
  8. Did I miss why they can't compare Arnold's DNA to Gabi to see if they're related? Controversial opinion: I think this is a creative take on the old troupes of evil twins and amnesia.
  9. One gets the sense that Joy Wesley is not going to be the next female lead of DAYS. I don't think anyone has spoken to her or about her since she went to the hospital after being poisoned. She's a good idea as a 'legacy' character, but she's poorly fleshed out beyond being a mattress-mate for lonely men.
  10. I adored Rita today, and that made up for a lot of messy dialogue. She's a perfect henchman for EJ. She doesn't use a gun, just her wits and a taser. And I get a kick out of her calm demeanor. Shawn-D, I think I speak for most when I say that there was no need to get dressed so quickly on our account. But, the rest of the costumes included some odd choices. What was that dress that Kristen had on, and why would she wear that to see her mother? And why is Stephanie wearing a sleeveless lace dress in February? To me, the issue was the poorly organized passage of time. Jada and Shawn picked up immediately from yesterday, which happened a few hours after Rachel was arrested. But, because there was no follow up from last week with EJ and Kristen, they felt like they lived in a time warp. And, if Kristen hasn't been arrested, how did she know what happened to Rachel Sr.?
  11. The follow-up reports note that she had a liver transplant, so that may have been the issue.
  12. But, isn't it funny that now that Cat is back at her house, she's not wearing any of her old nerdy outfits? It seems like a poor choice to keep wearing the wardrobe that Chad bought for her. I forgive the hair, because it is a soap and they have to sell shampoo and hair dye. But, the costume department should help out the writers and give Cat a style that is distinguishes her now from when she was committing fraud.
  13. I'm disappointed that Stephanie seems to have no lingering feelings for Chad. Because a Stephanie/Alex/Chad/Cat quad could be hot. After all, Stephanie did choose Chad over Alex in the past.
  14. Aren't Bachelor Auctions (or any type of bidding on humans), considered a bit out of touch in 2025? I know they wrote this script in 1983, but it stuck out like a sour thumb. I'm not an expert in heterosexual love making, but how do they fit on a couch, without taking off the back pillows? And why is Chad filling Cat in on life in Salem, if her family lived there already? Am I confused, and Mark and his siblings just happened to move to Salem for his medical residency? Because I thought Aaron grew up in Salem. The issue of how long the Greene's lived in Salem continues to be a sticking point for me that I wish they would explain.
  15. Doesn't Shawn have a whole house to himself at Hope's old place? I hope they didn't get rid of that set...
  16. The confusion might be because this was the logo for P&G Productions (seen at the ends of ATWT and GL). P&G Productions spunoff Telenext Media in 2008, then was subsumed by Telenext in 2013, until their final production, The People's Choice Awards were sold to the E! Channel in 2017 P&G Studios, which partially produces Beyond the Gate, was formed in 2020. So, those looking for a connection to prior soaps should know that the actual relationship is purely public relations. The ads are true that P&G has a long history with soaps, but P&G Studios is only five years old and shares none of the resources of the prior division. The two companies have nothing to do with each other. (sorry to be a Debbie Downer).
  17. Are there any rumors or speculation about Cat Greene possibly being revealed as John Black's daughter? I've been thinking about potential storylines, especially since Cat's plots so far have been pretty lackluster. I know John already has a long-lost kid, but it just feels correct (in an ironic way) for John to have one last twist to his identity. (I wonder what name/names they'll use for the gravestone?) It just seems intentional that Cat is working so closely with Marlena. Also, did I miss any explanation about how the Greene kids managed their finances after their parents died? Wasn't there supposed to be another relative supporting them? Sorry for rambling—I know I've gone on a bit about this!
  18. In the before times, you know NBC would've pulled some stunt on DOOL to divert the attention from CBS premiering a new soap today. Instead, we got the same ol', same ol' 😉
  19. The idea of Chad as the voice of reason (and journalistic ethics) is absurd. It feels like five minutes ago he was an impulsive hot head seeking out fights where ever he could find one. I get character development, but let's not lose the roots of what makes Chad interesting. It is a nutso tone to have an evil scientist making memory wiping formulas on one day, and then try to make us care about the budget of a university-based hospital the next day. You know that meme about a certain space-loving billionaire that's trying to fire half of the federal workforce, but has never donated to the arts or sciences? That's how this hospital financial crisis feels. The mayor is a billionaire, the two largest families own islands, submarines, and various buildings. Why can't they save the hospital? Bravo, for at least a fleeting mention of Rafe's adulterous past. It lends some credence to why is family doesn't see through this ruse immediately. Kastly, you'd think Shawn-D would have a baseball bat, given that his uncle and cousin played the sport all the time.
  20. It's interesting how AMC, Days of Our Lives, and The Young and the Restless each attempted to cast Genie Francis in roles that were a departure from her iconic "Laura" character. But by the time she arrived in Genoa City, it begs the question—if three out of four of her roles weren't like Laura, had that persona actually become her type? Though she was often cast in roles outside of General Hospital as schemers (and I'm simplifying here, I know some might take issue with this), most of these characters ultimately became victims. The pattern makes you wonder: what was the driving factor behind this? Was it (a) the audience rejecting her in any role where she wasn't sympathetic, as evidenced by a lack of ratings boost when she was cast? (b) Writers who couldn't help but see her as Laura and were only inspired to write for her as a victim, rather than as Genie herself? Or (c) was it that Genie's range as an actress made her less convincing in schemer roles, making those scenes harder to believe? It made me think about people like Marcy Walker, Susan Pratt, and Sherilyn Wolter who were successfully cast against their initial types. As opposed to someone like Lynn Harring or Morgan Fairchild who became typecast in daytime across soaps.
  21. Also, I'm calling it right now. Rafe is going to be arrested for EJ's shooting, they'll race around trying to find Arnold, but it will have been Rachel that plugged him. Once she learned from Steve that EJ was Stefano's son, you could see the seed had been planted and there was a ton of foreshadowing.
  22. I got a chuckle out of today's Worn on TV about DAYS. Apparently, Rachel's white coat was an Eileen Fisher design for about $200 bucks. So, while she may live in a decrepit mansion, Rachel still enjoys an upper-tier retail designer. Forget how she pays for utilities, the real question is how much does it cost to maintain an all white wardrobe season after season? And while she may save on hair dye, those beachy ringlets look straight out of a bi-weekly Dry Bar visit. Proving the old song; How ya gonna keep 'em down on the farm, after they've seen Paris?
  23. I know there are posters who don't like this iteration of Stephanie. And I must admit that I've never been moved by her pathos or her romances. But, her scenes with Jada are great, and I think tonally the actress has the perfect amount of spunky pertness to fill the role in this era. However, it would be nice if each female character had their own voice. Say what you will about the characters of Leo, Gavi, or EJ, but at least their dialogue is written very specifically. Chanel, Holly, Stephanie, and Joy all sound alike. They could trade scripts, and we would never be the wiser. None of them have a unique perspective, or seem to be influenced by their upbringing. They all have the same beliefs about love, and exactly the same motives.
