  1. I'd stay awake for the opening with the shot of Gregory Harrison in the shower, and then turn it off and go to sleep wondering why the hospital paid so little that the residents had to live in an RV in the parking lot.
  2. Can you believe Topol was only 35 when he filmed Fiddler?!?
  3. Agreed, that's why I indicated the six figure range, and that would have been in the mid-80s
  4. I failed to find the source, but IIRC Jackie Zeman was often cited as having one of the highest paying contracts on GH (she had a celebrity manager), and her salary was in the six figure range.
  5. Is it just me or is it odd how much press this show gets given its ratings? The NY Post seems particularly enamored. Today there were stories about Drew's therapist quitting when she started drinking after her divorce, and a story on Cameron Diaz's response to Drew's drinking. At least once a week I see something about her life as a single mother. Is it on at a time of day when NY Post editors take their coffee break? Are they done writing about The View? What explains the interest in a show that I do not find very entertaining?
  6. Well, its certainly true that JR, Bobby, and Cliff were written with consistency throughout the show. JR, scheming to maintain his family business, prizes loyalty and dominion. Bobby, nice guy, values traditional male roles of being a husband and father. Cliff a loser due to his envy, feels robbed of not having everything that everyone else has. Whereas Sue Ellen starts off as Lady Macbeth, willing to overlook JR's faults as a means to an end of gaining power and status, then becomes a victim, and then an ersatz gril-boss. And Pam was interesting at first because we didn't know her motives, she seemed sweet, while at the same time she seemed like she could be a countenance to JR when Bobby was too weak to fight. But later she becomes a perpetual victim with just minor sparks of anger to remind us of what she used to be.
  7. I'm confused by why Esme is going to prison/the mental hospital if Heather confessed to being the Hook. Was she tried and convicted for her scheme against Trina (or Ava)? Because it feels like she was kept on Spoon Island rather than being convicted of a crime. And now she's been exonerated. So, she why isn't she free?
  8. Yeah, they can't go back to that proverbial well too often. But, I do not enjoy anything about Drew. It makes me wish Carly would have a Kelly-from-90210-I-choose-me moment and just focus on work and being a maternal figure.
  9. Yes, but I also think it is interesting that they haven't tried to pair Austin and Carly, given the past chemistry of RH and LW. I guess the failed Franco and Carly relationship spoiled the possibility of re-pairing the two actors. However, I feel like Drew is a non-starter and lacks any of the moral ambiguity that has always attracted Carly.

  11. Lynda's at it again. In this week's summary; Who's Scoot? Does anyone call her Samantha? & If Nikolas was "off" life support, wouldn't he be dead? https://www.creators.com/read/lynda-hirsch-on-soaps/03/23/lynda-hirsch-on-television-summaries-d0a25
  12. The coded text when soap magazines wrote about gay actors in the 60s and 70s never ceases to amuse me. David O'Brien was private about his social life, Michael Corbett was too busy to date, and Dack Rambo had a European lover that broke his heart. And if the actor was lesbian, they were always photographed in their West Village apartment playing a musical instrument.
  13. Welp, it's a wrap for Rachael, ending the era of Oprah-influenced daytime TV https://www.thewrap.com/rachael-ray-talk-show-ending-17-years/
  14. I agree that Brady's plot potential with regard to his love life are not intriguing enough to sustain my interest in the character. But, also, the character has no employment specialization in order to be in any other plot than a romance. He's not a doctor, lawyer, scientist, cop, or spy. So, they haven't developed him to be able to do anything but lay in bed, or pine for a lost love. If Basic Black was still a thing then he could spar professionally with EJ and Stefon. It might be fun to pit Brady and Nicole against Alex and Stephanie. However, there is no reason for the audience to believe that Brady has any talent or ambition in that domain. For me, the only thing interesting is his relationship with Rachel. I like that the kid is sort of a brat. Yet, John has really been the only one to try to discipline or socialize Rachel. Acknowledging, Kristen's genetic influence on Rachel's mental health, but trying to provide an environment that reduces that effect would be a unique story in daytime. Imagine if he consulted with Marlena about the mistakes she made in rearing Sami, and they opened a parent partner support practice. Otherwise, there's not much there for me and his regularly scheduled monthly shirtless scenes have lost their novelty.
  15. https://t witter.com/TheWrap/status/1631345026394464260?s=20This is truly the little show that could, because I can never remember that it is still on air
  16. The weird quirk about Wanda is that she was related to everyone, either directly or through marriage. Brother-in-law Larry (and by extension Victoria and her whole family) , second cousin Asa (and by extension all of the Buchanans), and her pony-tailed, cougar-lovin' nephew Jason.
  17. The bathroom scene from S07, Ep8 remains the most memorable for me. The costumes for the Oil Baron's Ball were photographed for the promotional images for the 1983 season. I remember thinking Sue Ellen's gown was stunning (although in hindsight her post-fire hair was not flattering). I'm also endlessly amused at the sparing match between Jenna and Katherine. And, Katherine's dismissal of Afton, cements her role as a bitch. But, it made me wonder, does anyone else feel like the writing of the relationship between Pam and Sue Ellen was inconsistent throughout the seasons? In this scene Sue Ellen says that they're "friends", which was true. But some seasons it seems like Sue Ellen and Pam are rivals, due to the animosity between JR, Bobby, and Cliff (or when Pam tries to judge Sue Ellen's drinking). Other times they seem like confidants, like during Sue Ellen's first divorce from JR. And then there are seasons when it was like they barely knew each other, such as when Sue Ellen seems to never comment on Pam's disappearance after her car accident. It makes me suspect that BTS feelings among the actors played a part in the lack of scenes which would have shown the developing friendship between the characters. What is your take on the Pam/Sue Ellen relationship?
  18. So, just to summarize today's episode, anyone in Salem can afford a private boarding school, and last minute international plane fare, but nobody can buy a condo.
  19. OK, in the illogical world of Salem that makes sense. Although, I was sure that Rolf was just conning Eric and Brady and faking the experiment with Stefan in order to buy time, but I guess that's not the case. Admittedly, I watch the show on 1.5x speed, and only pay attention 40% of the time. May I push my luck with more questions? Chloe mentioned that she returned from visiting Parker, but who does Parker live with now? And does Chloe still have some animosity toward Stephanie for her role in the paternity plot regarding Parker?
  20. I'm willing to accept the logic of the chowder. But, why were they projecting pictures of Chloe? If they want Stefan to remember his love for Gabi, shouldn't they focus on her?
  21. It would at least be more logical for Li and Gabi to kick EJ and Stefan out of the mansion, as major shareholders in the company that probably owns their house. That would be fun and glamorous, rather than trying to be a daytime rip-off of Friends
  22. It is ironic that yesterday on GH Molly recused herself from Liz's case because Nikolas is her cousin, but today on DAYS Rafe is interrogating his brother-in-law for a crime that he admits he committed in order to maintain his relationship with Rafe's sister. Which once again begs the question - Where's Jada? And how can a rookie cop on the Salem PD afford an apartment when the head of IT at Dimera needs three roommates? The housing crisis in Salem is nuts. Also, does someone in Wendy's department maintain the cryo-pods?
  23. One tends to forget about Danny Cooksey
  24. I was surprised after watching a recent episode on a plane that Young Sheldon has just become Sheldon. He's no longer a little boy, his voice has changed, and he is fully grown. It seems like one of the hazards of creating a show where the main character is an adorable little boy, eventually they become gawky teens like Doogie Howser. The only sitcom to avoid that was Diff'rent Strokes.
  25. I still don't get if it was Tony who killed Maxwell Hathaway or Andre? I understand why Tony would say today that he didn't know that Megan was Stefano's daughter until after she died. But Megan had an adversarial relationship with Tony which lead to Maxwell's murder, so, it seems like he would remember that part of the story. Yet there was no reference to that issue today, maybe it will come up in the next few days? Can anyone confirm that Andre first appeared after Megan died? I'm intrigued to know why she chose Marlena, Kayla, and Kate rather than their husbands. Unless her plan came after she learned about Orpheus trying to kill them the first time. Because if it was purely for revenge, it seems curious why she wouldn't have targeted Anna.
