Reilly on DAYS - a renewed appreciation
In a lot of ways, JER's first stint is akin to that of Megan McTavish's first stint at AMC - high ratings and the right time/moment, but was never to be duplicated again in successive stints. Also, just completely throwing away the sensibility of each respective show, and there was really no "going back" after that. Carly being buried alive was also basically JER's version of Natalie in that damn well, lol.

Reilly on DAYS - a renewed appreciation
As crappy as he was a writer and when he later got drunk with power, people forget that Tom Langan was a huge part of bringing Reilly's first stint to life, and had previously cut his teeth under Bell/Ed Scott/H. Wes Kenney at Y&R for a decade prior to joining DAYS.

Angela Lansbury Remembers Stephen Sondheim- RIP: In Memoriam Thread
Their love and mutual admiration for one another was always lovely to see.- RIP Lisa Brown
Lisa was very fond of her craft. I believe she stayed on GL for a while (after she left as Nola the second time) as an acting coach for the younger cast.- RIP: In Memoriam Thread
His Oscar win was for Madonna's 'Sooner of Later' from Dick Tracy, but he didn't attend the ceremony when his name was called. I know he was later appreciative of Madonna and Warren Beatty for asking him to work on this song (and others used on Madonna's I'm Breathless album inspired by the movie) and for helping him cross over to the pop charts and getting an Oscar out of it (even if she said Madonna's flat pop voice wasn't that he was used to). I wonder if Angela Lansbury or Bernadette Peters have commented yet (but they both must be said). He often considered those two his musical theater muses. He added in some extra lyrics to this song (from 'A Little Night Music') at Barbra's request too! I know The Broadway Album is also Barbra's personal favorite album in her vast catalogue, and she considers it her greatest musical achievement, a lot of that thanks to Sondheim's contributions. He later presented her with the Grammy Lifetime Achievement award. Here are his various Tony wins.- RIP: In Memoriam Thread
Sondheim contributed so much joy and entertainment to my life without ever knowing it. He's so much the reason why I ever delved into American theater and purchased so many cast albums over the years. Legend and icon don't do enough justice in describing him. RIP.- RIP Lisa Brown
Oh wow, this one definitely shocks me. She did so much to bring depth to Iva, even in her last years when the writing wasn’t really there and she also tried hard to salvage her return as Nola when the writing was certainly a disaster. No matter what, she was always a memorable presence. RIP. So weird to think that we’ve lost both Brown and Michael Tylo suddenly within months of one another.- Billboard Charts
Billboard also released an updated 'Greatest' of all time Hot 100 list this week. Billboard‘s Greatest of All-Time Hot 100 Artists is based on chart points, and this list is pretty much the same as the last issuance in 2018. Greatest of All Time Hot 100 Artists, Top 10: 1, The Beatles 2, Madonna 3, Elton John 4, Elvis Presley 5, Mariah Carey 6, Stevie Wonder 7, Janet Jackson 8, Michael Jackson 9, Whitney Houston 10, Rihanna Meanwhile, The Beatles defend their No. 1 ranking on Billboard‘s Greatest of All-Time Hot 100 Artists chart (among close to 8,000 acts ever to appear on the weekly Hot 100). The icons, who also led the 2008, 2013 and 2018 all-time iterations, boast a record 20 No. 1s on the weekly Hot 100, among 34 top 10s, the most among groups. Madonna, with 38 Hot 100 top 10s, the most among women, ranks second on Greatest of All-Time Hot 100 Artists, followed in the top five by, at No. 3, Elton John, currently at his highest rank on the weekly Hot 100 since 1998 with “Cold Heart (Pnau Remix),” with Dua Lipa; at No. 4, Elvis Presley, even with his career having predated the Hot 100’s inception by two years; and, at No. 5, Mariah Carey, who leads all soloists with 19 Hot 100 No. 1s, through her latest, “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” her 1994 carol that jingled to the apex at last in 2019, and leads Billboard‘s new Greatest of All Time Holiday 100 Songs chart. While the Greatest of All-Time Hot 100 Artists recap’s top 10 mirrors that of the 2018 tabulation, Drake jumps to within the edge of the tier, bounding from No. 22 to No. 11. His top 10 count on the weekly Hot 100 stands at a record 54, while he also holds the marks for the most top 40 hits (144) and entries on the chart overall (259). He has notched nine No. 1s, through “Way 2 Sexy,” featuring Future and Young Thug, this September.- ALL: Characters you are surprised never had children

I mean, it's the worst kept secret anyway. The leaks for this movie have been so bad and regular, it's funny. The Daredevil Netflix show was great and deserves a revival, but it would not be well-served on Disney+, which strays away from R-rated content. If it does get revived, hoping they place it on Hulu or something where they can really do that character and its its gritty NYC setting justice. If Deadpool 3 succeeds as an R-rated MCU film in a few years, I hope that bodes well for Daredevil and the Marvel Netflix shows/characters getting their proper roll-out in the MCU.- ABC: ‘Queens’: Hip-Hop Drama Pilot
I guess, to be fair, she's not the only flop artist on this flop show, lol.- ABC: ‘Queens’: Hip-Hop Drama Pilot
Like everything Brandy’s released over the past 20 years!- The Oprah Winfrey Show memories
Of course, we can’t forget how great Debra Wilson was at parodying her - Debra has said she heard Oprah was not very amused by these skits.- The Oprah Winfrey Show memories
There was a point in time when Jerry Springer's show was more "serious" than Oprah's.... Things changed a lot after those ranchers in Texas sued her and when she started giving that quack Dr. Phil a platform to spew his sh!t. The "live your best life" nonsense made her so entitled and elitist, and it was never really the same after. The period around her epic box office flop with Beloved being the absolute nadir. The Quincy Jones/Rod Temperton produced theme ('Oprah's Theme') will always be my favorite, even if it's only known now for simply being one of the songs Carlton danced to in the Oprah episode of The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air...- Patrick Mulcahey interview
Patrick is already very candid and transparent on Twitter, so I just hope that Alan just STFU and lets him speak. We’ll probably hear some great stories about people like Marland, Nancy Curlee/Stephen Demorest, Guza, JFP, and Wendy Riche from Mulcahey if he’s allowed to speak.- ABC: ‘Queens’: Hip-Hop Drama Pilot
Oh wow, this is a huge flop (much like most of Brandy's career post-Moesha/Full Moon). In episode three news on ABC was dramedy “Queens”, which at just 1.17 million viewers (#4) and a 0.3/ 2 in adults 18-49 (#3t) could very well be the alphabet net’s lowest viewer tally for a regularly scheduled scripted series in the Tuesday 10 p.m. historically. Lead-in “The Bachelorette” (Viewers: #4, 2.63 million; A18-49: #2, 0.6/ 4 from 8-10 p.m.) would probably benefit it the network saved it for in between fall and midseason or for the summer.- DAYS' Lauren Koslow - Surprise Family Update
That's sweet, good for her! He looks a lot like her.- ALL: Storylines that took the biggest risks and got the biggest rewards?
In many ways, Y&R focusing so heavily on a peripheral and new character with no historical ties like Cassandra Rawlins over a two year period was a risk, but that's the story that helped solidify Y&R at #1 in the ratings.- ALL: Storylines that took the biggest risks and got the biggest rewards?
The storyline was so dominant and also preceded by things like BJ's death and Monica's breast cancer, that the popular opinion had been GH had gotten too "dreary" and wasn't a "fun" soap to watch anymore so people tuned out. Hence why the planned story of giving Audrey alzheimer's was canceled soon after. I didn't mind, but I could totally see if you were a fan of 80's GH not really being too thrilled with this creative direction.- ALL: Storylines that took the biggest risks and got the biggest rewards?
I guess rewards can go two ways - ratings/commercial gain or critical acclaim/awards. So, while say Stone’s AIDS storyline got a lot of the latter, ratings also fell considerably over the course of it. The opposite scenario happened with Marlena’s possession.- B&B Major Character Recast!
I doubt most of the cast and crew want to work with Tylo, lol. I’m surprised this recast didn’t happen long ago - she was notorious apparently for holding up production and being a pain in the ass on that otherwise (mostly) tranquil set. It was tolerated for a loooog time allegedly. Brad Bell seems done with her for good this time.- B&B Major Character Recast!
I guess it was bound to happen? Tylo's relationship and reputation with the show hasn't been solid in years... - RIP: In Memoriam Thread
