OBITUARY: Don Marshall, an actor whose TV credits include “Land of the Giants” and an episode of the original “Star Trek” series, died Oct. 30, 2016, according to multiple news sources. He was 80. A longtime friend of the actor, actress BarBara Luna, also announced the death in a Facebook post: Marshall died “at Cedars Sinai Hospital on Sunday evening October 30, 2016 at approximately 8 pm. Don transitioned peacefully; at his bedside were his daughter, son, and twin brother Doug Marshall. A memorial service is to be determined.” Marshall is known best for having played the adventurer Dan Erickson on “Land of the Giants.” The one-hour science fiction series, created and produced by Irwin Allen, ran from 1968 to 1970. Marshall was born May 2, 1936, in San Diego, California. He initially studied engineering after graduating from high school but took up acting on the advice of a friend. After debuting in the 1961 film “The Interns,” Marshall accepted a role on the 1964 television show “Great Getting’ Up Mornin’” alongside actress Nichelle Nichols. Nichols went on to play communications officer Lt. Uhura on the original “Star Trek” TV series. The two actors again worked together when Marshall played Lt. The story sounds like filler just to get Noah back to GC (but, of course, No Ali) featuring a bunch of "names" trying to lure viewers. Inserting Failly Erin in doesn't bode well for me staying awake. Tamara Braun was always 'harsh Carly' in my book and not one of my favorite actresses. Kim Nero was a waste of space along with pathetic, Oscar. I couldn't stand the Reese character on AMC, either TB has her fans and I'm glad to see her geting another chance in daytime, but I was much more interested with the suggestion that she come to town as Tara, Harrison's mother. Sharon Case's scene today was Stafford level scenery chewing. This L.A story can't end fast enough, and it hasn't even started.
