Spiderman also had a live action show that didn't last very long. The live action 60s Batman was the closest thing to a hit, but in terms of years it wasn't that long either, but shows also had 30 episode seasons in the 1960s. But none of them last long and don't really have high ratings. For The CW though, it's high ratings, but for the former WB, it's nothing. Smallville did well for a while, it lasted 10 or 11 years. I was a fan in the beginning but it got tired. I got the idea behind it, but I think it was a mistake to combine UPN and The WB. But Benoist is a good star for the CW to have and a female led superhero drama is exactly what they need to combat the male led ones.

A superhero show is never going to be a big breakout on a network like CBS or Fox (I like how they still spin Gotham as a hit). If you want a cable or internet show, you're going to get the ratings for one. CBS has the ability to sneeze at 7 or 8 million viewers but the demo sucked. It won't get anywhere near what it did but if it's on par with the other superhero shows, it's fine. It's the better fit for a show like this and the CW will probably drag it on for years now.

Fuller House
Not saying it will happen again, but considering Fuller House was renewed within hours/days of it's premiere on Netflix .... I'd say the show's gonna be around a while

Agreed. I think it's time for a schedule shakeup.

I think we had a thread for the other over the air networks, but Laff has added Cybill and Grounded For Life. They also have the rights now to 3rd Rock From The Sun, Roseanne and That '70s Show (and other Carsey/Warner shows).

I've always liked Brotherton too but they're still going to play up the Steve/Matt angle. Weinger's still taping as well and they posted an instagram of Weinger and Brotherton face to face "facing off", so they're having fun with it. But it can only be milked for so long. Please don't milk this for six seasons. Also sounds like we don't have to wait until February 2017, so we'll see when they drop the second season.

I didn't like Matt because it felt like they were quietly trashing Steve (agreed with you on this Dragonflies!). In the end I liked them both but just didn't care who she chose. I think Steve is the better fit and when we saw him with her kids on their date? That was the Steve I wanted to see and it just felt natural like he should be their father figure. I think they started to change course a bit to make it more balanced with the triangle. Weinger still looks good but it's clear why they wanted to push Matt. I think it's something they can play for a while if they choose to do so because the stans of the show won't let them leave out Steve. I don't agree, but I do, lol. I thought the same at first (I was like, why is Steve now DJ's stalker and has he been stalking her for 20 years?) but I think they thought it would be endearing. It's clear somewhere along the way it was changed up a bit. JMO. Weinger's gay? He has a wife. Not that it means anything, of course. He can be bisexual. We throw out "gay" "straight" but he could play for both teams. I was sort of surprised to find out he had a wife ...

Echoing this .... really want to see the run of this show. Sigh.

The View
I just have to LOL at how many co-hosts this show has yet they STILL need two or three guest co-hosts a week. I think Sunny has been great. I'd love her to replace Paula Faris. Michelle Collins is never on and once in a while thrown a bone. Candace has quite a bit of time off. I don't get it. Must be nice. They're wasting money on her IMHO. Dump her. Paula fills that role fine if they insist on a 'news anchor'. I feel like Raven just has no time for Paula LOL. Melissa Joan Hart hasn't been bad. I'd rather her than Candace's fake ass.

Loving/The City Discussion Thread
Loved the post on the last page recapping a lot of the early years. I'd love to see a full run of the show. I've always been interested by it. It does come off as a show that had so much potential and just couldn't really ever gain traction. Too much writer turnover and cast turnover. I was always annoyed SoapNet never aired the show.

Yeah, it's painfully clear they aren't using Collins. When they have a guest co-host over her who's probably available, that's gotta say something. I think CCB used DWTS and The View to get back into the spotlight. I don't blame her but I don't know that I see her sticking around. And that's fine. I don't care either way. I like Sunny Hostin and Sara Haines. I'd prefer they dump Paula but they won't. I'm 50/50 on Raven but I'm tired of her bitch face and eye rolls ... she's very up and down emotionally IMO. I think you can tell she's not as comfortable or happy. JMO. I wouldn't be shocked if they dumped her, or she left, but it could probably go either way. Raven's on more than Michelle but not by much anymore. And Whoopi isn't even a guarantee. Joy's been in that moderator chair a fair bit and does alright. I was a fan of Whoopi but I'm sort of tired of her now and she's long checked out, so maybe it would be for the best. I feel like ABC sort of wants her to go but is also sort of afraid to lose her name recognition and fan base. She's clearly popular whether you like her or not. We shall see. I think one of the biggest problems isn't really the hosts themselves it's the constant switching of the hosts every season. The View needs to commit to a group and rebuild their audience. They dropped the ball last year (even though Nicolle Wallace would be better than Faris, IMO, especially with this season being political season and more focus on hot topics again), and they're dropping the ball this year but they're setting themselves up better if they go with Hostin and Haines. I say they just keep Raven. I don't think shaking it up every year works. Yep. Though I didn't mind Raven initially. I also liked Michelle, mostly, but with Joy coming back, they didn't really need Michelle to be the comedic voice. They were going for a bit younger, and Twitter buzz, which I understand, but the panel wasn't totally clicking. If Whoopi leaves, with Season 20 coming up, they should back up that Brinks truck next to Meredith Vieria's house and unload. I'm sorry her talk show sunk but IMO she belongs on The View. She could fill the moderator role AND replace Faris as the "journalist".

Fuller House
Yes, the first episode was basically everything about Full House that people both loved and hated about it. It's packed full of self references and nods to the original series. I didn't love the fourth wall breaking by Stamos in Episode 2 but it worked in Episode 1. The first episode, probably minus DJ's dead husband and spin-off set up of course, was mostly the finale the original series should have had. Served as a reunion/set-up. It was slightly clunky, and felt like many were rusty. The rest of the show itself develops a really nice vibe, imho. I've actually re-watched a few. I wasn't the biggest fan of the original, but I liked it. I actually prefer this take on it. Or maybe it's just hitting me differently. The rest of the episodes are worth checking out. It starts to gel after a few episodes. I don't think it comes off nearly as bad cheese as the original but the tone is similar. Jodie Sweetin and Andrea Barber are really fantastic IMO and Candace eventually starts to get warm and come off less ... fake. JMO.

Fuller House
I thought the show had quite a few genuine laughs. It felt more natural and funny as the show went on. You could see everyone get more comfortable. I thought, for example, Steve had me laughing out loud quite a few times. Several very funny episodes. I'm not Candace's biggest fan in regards to her personal beliefs, but it's a sitcom and people need to sit down about her "lowering" herself. Please. The show actually softened my dislike of her, LOL

Fuller House
I know. It's tired. Every article about Fuller House and it's renewal automatically goes to the Olsen twins. I don't miss them in the slightest and I like the show as it is. I couldn't care less if they ever appear. I wish one would though so everyone can shut up about it. It's sad that all the critics and 'reporters' have to write about is the Olsen's (who NO ONE expected they would do it) and how awful the original show was and how awful this one is. It's really not as awful as they make it out to be. I actually find Fuller House less cheesy and bad than Full House, which was 80s/90s kind of special.

Fuller House
I can only imagine the numbers Netflix got for Fuller House. It trended for like two days straight on Twitter. So, no surprise here, it's already been renewed for a Season 2! https://t.co/LOpd5ZoNN6 And Jodie Sweetin has joined this season of Dancing with the Stars, again, shocking no one. She's paired with Keo.

Damn. They even bring back Harry, Stephanie's "husband"

Fuller House
So, the show was and isn't for everyone. But I sort of roll my eyes at the 'bad' reviews because it comes off as "the cool thing to do" by trashing the show. It's actually fairly funny and I'm already on Episode 7. Yes, I'm a sick person. It's a rough start, but it starts to flow well later on. It's exactly what a Full House continuation should be. The cheese is there, Stamos hamming the camera is there, it's a nostalgia filled fun time. The pilot/reunion is basically the finale the show should have had. The kids are well cast. Danny Tanner remains a neatfreak with a hot wife. Him and his grandson Max cleaning together is cute. There's a Comet Jr. Jr. and now a Cosmo. Stephanie's still spouting off How Rude! and they capture everything about Joey in the pilot and the episode where he babysits the kids (I think Episode 3). Stamos returns in the second episode with more hamming and winking to the camera, but they capture Jesse as well with his Elvis loving. I'm not seeing any chemistry with them forcing the very good looking John Brotherton on Candace Cameron Bure. It's not working. Meanwhile, Weinger and Bure have instant chemistry again. Steve still carries a torch for DJ and they make it obvious (Steve returns in Episode 7). And they touch on his love for food. They drop a surprising real bomb about Stephanie. But it's a few hugs and they move on, which is fine. But it sets up the character. Andrea Barber slipped back into Kimmy Gibbler like it was nothing. All three women do a good job recapturing their characters. And the love/hate between Stephanie and Kimmy is thankfully still there (and touched on again in Episode 6 ... just throwing this out there: "The Gibbler Gallup"). Soni Nicole Bringas as Ramona is great. She has great timing and does a really good job. And Kimmy's lothario ex Fernando is sort of hilarious at times. Basically if you love Full House, the show captures everything about it and is what a reunion show/continuation should be. JMO. Tons of nods and play on nostalgia.

It's absolutely bizarre to see these promos. The full trailer shows us Nicky and Alex and Steve. Not one thing has changed and I love it, cringe-worthy cheesiness and all. They clearly got it right and there's several funny bits in the trailers.

Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
LOL. I wasn't watching when Lockie was introduced. I had no idea he was bi, but now I'm remembering reading the JP thing at the time. I really liked what little I've seen of him. So of course he goes. Guess I didn't make the connection. But like Carl says, awful Ste and dead-eyed Harry stick around and around and around ... And I dislike that they made Cameron a loony psycho. It's a typical cop-out. And Ste and John-Paul are an awful couple. I stopped watching right after JP's rape and refused to return to watch that relationship. I came back in this year and I've been liking it. It's not awful or great but it's watchable I guess. Mindless fun for 20ish minutes. I need to catch up on the last two weeks.

Hollyoaks: Discussion Thread
Caught up on December and January ... some random thoughts I don't really get Ste's appeal. Yuck. Harry and John Paul falling all over themselves for him ... no thanks. And of course they had to have Ste be "bad" again for all of five minutes ... Zzzz LOL at Nico being the one to off Patrick. And double LOL at her beating up Sienna. What a family of loons and I love it. Even though I'm glad Patrick's FINALLY dead and I find Nico insufferable. LOL at Cameron suddenly being a loon and holding his brother captive. LOL at crazy Lindsay wanting Joe back and who didn't see her getting pregnant after that one night they had? Ugh at Freddie being alive, even though I knew he was. Holly ho-ing herself out to Robbie while Jason develops rage issues ... I'm ready for this to wrap. It's getting more and more convoluted every second. Ugh at Cindy being treated like [!@#$%^&*] by Dirk and Holly but I love her wanting a piece of everything Mac has. Love Alfie and LOL at the misunderstanding about Tony being his father. I also like Nathan, Rachel and Ellie. Good additions. I don't care much for Tegan or Leela but damn at Ziggy dying like that. I did not see it coming but when they did that wistful shot of him looking around at everyone so happy, I knew doom was coming. So after all that time, Teresa was just using Zack, who finally knows Lisa isn't his sister. And what was the point of making Simone pregnant? To guilt Zack and Lisa into not saying anything? And who's this crazy bitch Joanne that's stalking and kissing Louis? Sort of liked the Pete reveal and then Reenie hitting him. I'm guessing Porsche will be back? I like Myra and Diego. I don't see a need for Celine, who I like, or Cleo, who I don't. I like Nancy and Darren together and missed seeing Darren with Maxine but man Maxine was so annoying covering up Patrick's death with him. I'm sort of in need of a break from Maxine, even though I like her. I guess it's interesting that Esther and Grace are hooking up. At least Esther has something to do. I can't say they haven't dumped some dead weight even if it isn't permanent. The show serves a LOT of characters. I just LOL that characters and couples never catch a break. The second one silly drama/misunderstanding is out of the way another one drops. The show is entertaining at the moment. I'm enjoying it and the characters. Is it great soap? No. Is it way over the top campy? Yes but it's good to just ignore reality and accept it for what it is.

I can't tell you how often I rely on some of these channels now. At least some cable networks have gotten back into airing shows. Logo alone airs Facts of Life, Roseanne, Golden Girls, Designing Women, Bewitched ...
