Y&R: Old Articles
In that 1998 episode in just the first 15 SECONDS you see what a different and better show it was. I don't ever claim to know the 'glory years' and I would LOVE to watch Classic Y&R. I started watching in 1997/1998. I wish TVGN would air weekend blocks of classic episodes. Y&R has always fascinated me and I know I would just love it (1973-1998). I've read all about it, seen clips and some episodes but it's not the same.

Tyler Perry's 'Haves and Have Nots' on OWN
Yeah, MTB did have a lot of 'special episodes' too, when I actually really think back on some of the episodes. The kids were pretty annoying, honestly. LOL

Tyler Perry's 'Haves and Have Nots' on OWN
Yeah. To me, HOP was confusing because I always thought it was supposed to be a sitcom but it suddenly became this 'special episode of the week' show. It wasn't awful, I liked a lot of it, but it was like, what does TP want this show to be?

Tyler Perry's 'Haves and Have Nots' on OWN
THIS! LOL. And isn't the actor the same one in that threeway 'Snake The Drain' commercial? Where the two hot plumbers and that woman are hovering over her toilet as 'sexy' music plays like it's some porno? Yeah, that probably suits him better.

Tyler Perry's 'Haves and Have Nots' on OWN
HoP was sometimes so bad, the earlier episodes were much better, apart from TP's typical wooden actors. I much preferred Meet The Browns. It at least tried to stay a sitcom.

Sigh. So behind. LOL

Tyler Perry's 'Haves and Have Nots' on OWN
Pretty much all this. I like the show just fine and actually do want to watch it every week, but it's far from great, gripping television.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Man, the 'Ghost Reva' story sounds horrendous. I thought San Cristobal, the clone and walking through a painting were bad. Boy Reva had some stinkers. The show tried way too hard to keep Reva as the main focus and it shows with so many awful storylines. I agree with everyone who said it became more balanced with her in the last year or so. It felt like it was more of an ensemble again, even if nothing really happened.

Tyler Perry's 'Haves and Have Nots' on OWN
Skipped the latest episode comments to talk about the first two episodes (though my memory is fuzzy because it's been a week and I watch a good amount of television). I enjoyed them. It's definitely a Tyler Perry show though LOL. The stiff actors (though very nice to look at). Thankfully Jim, Hanna and Candace made up for the rest. It has a lot of potential though, I think they did an OK job at setting things up (the severely messed up kids, the non-existent Jim/Kathryn marriage, Hanna/Candace). Hope to see more of Benny, he wasn't given much. Does feel very 90s/Passions-esque, agreed with everyone there. I'll keep watching. There's also a website out there that has links to episodes of hundreds of shows/episodes. I can PM the link/name if anyone's interested.

Oh. My. Well, it's kinda what I would have expected. I'm still going to watch it, try it out.

Tyler Perry's 'Haves and Have Nots' on OWN
I think Tyler Perry does do some things right, but I mean, House of Payne turned into one afterschool special after another. I appreciated Meet The Browns much more in the long run. He's very heavy handed at times and preachy and I don't want this show to go down that road but I have a hard time seeing them taking this "seriously", but at the same time having it seem 'serious'. It also doesn't help that he sometimes doesn't cast the, um, best actors in the world LOL

Tyler Perry's 'Haves and Have Nots' on OWN
The cast is probably the only reason I'll even tune in. And yep, that John Schneider. http://www.oprah.com/havesandhavenots

Tyler Perry's 'Haves and Have Nots' on OWN
I mean, it's Tyler Perry, first off, so I expect it to be very heavy handed. I started the thread because up until now, I had no idea who would be in the cast. Apparently John Schneider, Tika Sumpter, Eva Tamargo (Passions' Pilar) and Peter Parros (OLTL/ATWT) will be in it. Again, it's Tyler Perry, so I don't expect it to be anywhere near amazing soap. It's one hour, but is it comedy, drama? Curious if anyone is going to watch?

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Hmm. Man. This show IS so depressing now. I skipped Jan and February (I was that behind! lol) and started watching March episodes. I'll catch up someway with the other ones. Dot's hiding letters (losing her house?) and Poppy and Fatboy (love them) think she might be losing it because of her strange behavior and items going missing. Dot is after Cora for the missing ham. LMAO. I love Dot. The first depressing story. Phil is disgusting me. I'm not surprised. The actress playing Lola has been doing very good lately, IMO. But you have ugly nasty Phil keeping Lola from her daughter for purely selfish guilt filled reasons. Another depressing story. Sharon slapping Jack and having sex with him afterwards. I think after growing up as Den and Angie's daughter, seeing their combative behavior, she clearly thrives off of it LOL. I like them and am now kinda sad we are losing Jack. I also adore his Phil hatred. I can see why many probably don't like this storyline, whatever it is (again, I was a little behind and skipped a bit). I like the idea of Ian and Denise. So glad to see Ian happy and just being given something to do! But the other depressing story is Patrick confined in a wheelchair being taken care of. I'm glad that quickly ended and turned a little bit happier. I quite enjoy Patrick, Kim, Denise and Ian on a regular basis. What's up with Alice now channeling Janine and wearing her clothes and Michael practically lusting after her. I think the actress playing Alice though is quite good. When is Janine back? I can't believe how much I've grown to like Tanya and Max. I don't know if I like them together actually but I like them both on their own, though Max is ALWAYS so dour and kind of boring. The actor's great though. So yeah, kinda blah and depressing but it's not bad, it's just ... kind of there and depressing, though still pretty good IMHO.

The View
I still think Elisabeth is leaving. However, like others have said, it will be "her choice" (of course). I caught Barbara's "we support them if they leave" or whatever nonsense she was babbling on about.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Yeah, EastEnders is on YouTube. I believe a couple different users upload episodes and they're up fairly quickly. Yet I still fall behind LOL. My computer is just starting to show it's age so videos don't always play so well anymore. IDK why I don't use the YouTube app on DirecTV. I never remember it. I'm still liking EE but it's just ... IDK. I feel like SOMETHING is missing for me and I can't quite peg it.

The View
Yeah Elisabeth is probably done. I dont care what they say. Why are exits on the View handled so damn badly? I think it is damage control. They arent going to "steal the thunder" of Joy's exit with Elisabeth leaving too.

The View
It hasn't had as much buzz in the last couple of years. It rode a little bit of a high from the Rosie/Elisabeth debacle as well as Whoopi coming on but the last few years. Meh. It was time for a change. I also agree with whoever said in here that having three comics wasn't the smartest thing. You always had Joy, Whoopi and Sherri agree, which was often fine with me because I like them the most, but Elisabeth probably got more hate thrown her way than deserved just because she had a different opinion, which is why they were all hired in the first place. I like Sherri but I don't think the View is for her.

The View
Joy has terrible interview skills but I've liked her. She comes off very jaded and dismissive though so it can be off-putting. I have enjoyed her and Whoopi's clear annoyance at Babs. Speaking of Barbara ... in reading some old posts through here, I agree, the View has changed my opinion big time of her. I'm fine with Rosie and Whoopi. I mostly watch for Whoopi and was watching for Rosie (I wish her talk show on OWN had been better). So Babs might be retiring too ... I can't say that bothers me. Barbara seems so out of it half of the time (likely due to age, which sucks, because I've always liked her) and it annoys the piss out of me when she constantly interrupts Whoopi and tries to control everything and be politically correct all of the time. She's just not an off-the-cuff person. She needs to stick to specials and interviews. And yeah, she's 84 (wow!), so she probably does need to take a step back and not have to deal with the hassle of the show. She often missed a lot of shows anyway so it won't be that big of a loss, technically. I can't even imagine who they are getting to replace all of them. Hopefully Whoopi sticks around but I've often felt like she was looking done with the show too.

EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Ian and Sharon were very close once again when she first returned. Sharon even helped Lucy and Ian pretty much come back together. It did seem to taper off I guess. Ian's like an afterthought it seems. Shame. And back to Jack ... he is likeable but I guess I can easily do without him, too. Not a big loss in that sense but in terms of losing a nice, likeable guy, yeah, it is kind of a shame.
