  1. One of the problems, IMHO, with the UK soaps is this desire to write people in and out and kill them off for shock value, and bring on new character after new character. I haven't watched in quite a while. I don't really like how they seem to like to humiliate the women on the show. Sharon, Denise, Michelle ... to name just three. And if they aren't being humiliated they're turned into unlikeable screaming banshees. Not to mention, IMO, the terrible view towards gay men.
  2. Ugh it sure does
  3. I haven't watched in ages but they pull plot twists out of their behind, lol. Is all this so they can eventually put him with Ste and they can have hate sex?
  4. Trash could be one word for it. Not saying I won't likely DVR some episodes to check it out but eh ...
  5. I've grown to really enjoy Frasier and Seinfeld (but I don't watch them over and over like I can shows like Roseanne, I Love Lucy, Golden Girls, Roseanne, Mama's Family, Three's Company ... I've seen all of them hundreds and hundreds of times ans they're all just as entertaining to me like they're brand new) but like MASH or Andy Griffith they were never my type of show either, as well written as they are. Yeah, I hated how they had Dan have an affair, she definitely did that on purpose, after spending 8 seasons building him up as a great man and husband and father and they always had a good marriage. I guess I never put much stock in the finale where they said he died for real. I know most did but it's really never been in the back of my mind. I just assumed it was all in her head or something and who's to say what was "real" ... I just re-watched the finale today on LOGO and I wonder if they'll remember Becky and Mark were expecting a kid, but they hadn't told the family yet.
  6. Agreed. I hope that's what they go for with the new show but I'm a tad worried ... lol Ah. I do remember some of that. I thought the Geraldine issue was when Crystal (who represented a sister to Roseanne) was more or less dumped, but to be fair, Crystal was played out. How many times could they make her pregnant and they stuck her with Dan's father. I thought Roseanne and Laurie wanted Jackie to be more like Barney Fife, which Laurie has mentioned before. She channeled him on purpose. I disliked how whacked out Jackie became even if Laurie was hilarious doing it. I slightly remember John and Roseanne having a falling out but wasn't Dan's absence in Season 9 because John was filming a movie. He was becoming more of a movie star to a degree and he said recently on The Talk that he didn't appreciate how good he had it on Roseanne and wanted off by that point. Roseanne must have resented it or something. And I do remember reading or hearing that she was on drugs. That was pretty obvious on-screen. Agreed about the TA years and how it messed her up. TA has more or less turned himself around as well but I hated him during those years. He was awful. He was clearly on drugs too but that was never a secret. You could see how tweaked out they were on screen, the jittery behavior and wild eyes ... so so obvious.
  7. Oh and more on the man hating ... she turned her father into an abusive cheater. And just watching the funeral episode she talks about not trusting men and Dan for the first five years of their marriage. It just all reeked of "I hate men" ... blah. She completely transferred her distrust of men in real life (for good reason) onto the show and her character.
  8. Gary was my favorite for Jackie as well. I prefer the Crystal years, the factory, Rodbells, the bike shop ... Seasons 1-5 were the best. Season 6 and 7 were the man hating, miserable bitch I'm probably snorting coke or doing pills Roseanne years (seriously, she looks stoned a lot of episodes). Season 8 wasn't too bad, but it was supposed to be the last season initially so I think it mellowed out and felt a bit more like the earlier years. Season 9 was trash even if some of the episodes have grown on me.
  9. I'll be nice and say I do appreciate the diversity and different takes on certain characters, but I'm still not sold on it.
  10. It wasn't Fisher but Fred @DRW50 Fisher was the young abusive one. I didn't like Jackie with Fred because of her attitude. And Laurie decided Jackie needed to become Barney Fife. Agreed @Khan Roseanne clearly hated men after her breakup with Arnold (not to mention she looked like she was on something during a few seasons). All Dan did was yell and be miserable, Mark became dumber than a box of rocks, David became even more pathetic ...
  11. Yeah I agree. I liked her with David at times but overall I agree with that. Or have her be bi.
  12. And I do think Seasons 6 and 7 had some great episodes but the tone is so different ...
  13. LOL. I think you're the one who needs to chill out. We all have an opinion and we're all entitled to it. I'm glad you like it. Most of us don't. It's OK.
  14. Lol yes! Excellent comparison
  15. +1 I actually thought the Cristal actress came off better than the Fallon actress. And Fallon/Steven seem so vapid and void of any real charm. It just seemed like a bunch of one liners that are meant to be bitchy or witty. It was terrible. One or two moments maybe had some promise but overall ... ugh.
  16. Exactly. But by Season 6 I think so many of them were honestly unlikable. As much as I love the show. Roseanne's bitterness came through loud. Seasons 1-5 were the best. Season 8 wasn't too bad. I wasn't a big fan of Darlene going gothic. It lasted a little too long. And then she just became nasty. I enjoyed the episode when the family turned on her for her smart mouth remarks (when she turned down the well paying job). Darlene's probably my favorite but it got a little tired.
  17. I never put the same stock into the finale as everyone else seemed to ... like Dan would ever stay dead in any kind of revival. LOL. Come on. And there's no way they'd undo Becky/Mark (though making Mark dumber than a box of rocks made me have a hard time seeing Lecy's Becky with him anymore) or Darlene/David. Darlene would have never been with Mark. Sarah's Becky and David maybe but not Lecy's Becky. The writing for Sarah's Becky vs. Lecy's Becky was so obvious too. They made Sarah's Becky a flighty almost dumb blond who was often bested by Darlene compared to Lecy's Becky who suddenly wanted to do more than work at a Hooters knock off and go back to college and could hold her own with Darlene ...
  18. Thats for sure. Awful all around. Seems incredibly basic.
  19. Yeah I can't see Mark not be addressed.
  20. LOL @Soapsuds John lost a lot of weight that's why. Lecy looks fine. I love you buddy but lol. People do age
  21. I feel like Season 9 was just a big ole middle finger to Disney/ABC. Which is a shame. I hope Season 10 will do the show justice. They also have to address Glenn Quinn/Mark. He went way too young
  22. From the Upfront today
  23. Pretty sure it's been said in other articles Galecki will take part. Not sure if it would be better on Netflix, probably, but I'm cautious on how Roseanne will handle it.
  24. Woo hoo!!! Though I'm slightly nervous about how outlandish Roseanne may make it and how political it could be. But I'm still thrilled it's coming back. I also love that they seem to have a role for Sarah Chalke too.
  25. LOL I like The Goldbergs. I like a lot of their sitcoms actually. I think the Shondaland dramas are a bit overrated ...
