  1. Me too and he does ruin it. He fanbois out. I get it but let them talk. I'd love more one on one interviews/discussions. It may end up going in that direction, he did with Susan Lucci.
  2. This is honestly the reunion I didn't realize I needed or wanted. It's been a lot of fun lol LOL it is Joy seems so chill and she looks fantastic. BTW I can't reply in messages for some reason on Chrome or Firefox. Not sure what's wrong so I wasn't ignoring your birthday message and yes on that on certain poster. Anyway ... back to the chat
  3. Denise Pence looks amazing in that thumbnail. I wish she had been brought back to GL but it was so far gone from what it was ... Elvera and Hope would have been great to have over the years. I know many cling to Maureen as the matriarch and she was wonderful in that spot but I wanted more for Maureen (especially seeing the chemistry she had with Michael Zaslow in 1992) than stuck in a marriage to boring Ed when I'm watching now. Hope would have sufficed. Matriarch of the Bauer AND Spaulding clans? Sign me up. Of course Alex is the matriarch but you know Hope would have been there. Sigh. What could have been if a writer cared more about the history of the show. Watching the Santos family reunion now. Another one who looks amazing: Saundra Santiago. Paul looks good too and Jordi always does. Jordi looks better scruffy, IMO. I don't often say that. I know the Santos clan is hated. I share that hatred. But I really like each and every actor that was in the family. I have nothing against them. What pisses me off is the lack of ability to truly introduce a diverse family onto a show. Carmen Santos could have been a much better, less one-note character who could have been a bitch to be reckoned with for YEARS. PAS and Laura Wright had chemistry and they should have used that. Danny and Cassie made FAR more sense. And you have Father Ray, who could have been a symbol of the early years of the show. But ... nope. The writing sucked. Only Danny lasted because of PAS. Why is a hispanic family wasted as mobsters? That's my big gripe. And then they introduced the Boudreau's, who could have really been interesting, had the writers wanted to actually write for Black people. They didn't. Mel was instantly paired with Rick. No drama over their mixed relationship from what I recall. If there was it was a blip on the radar. Felicia could have had a past with Alan or Roger. What if Remy was their son? And he were gay? And Felicia didn't approve but Clayton did (yes I'm kinda channeling Haves and Have Nots, just less ... ugly), etc. Or vice versa. But ... nope. They were replacements for Vivian, Charles, Vicky and David (although Charles appeared for several years after that I believe, in pop up spots at Cedars). I do believe they had some writing for them with Richard Biggs and Shari Headley in the roles but they were ultimately wasted and wisely bailed. What a waste of them! And Vicky Spaulding was a non-entity. Lost potential. Circling back to Hispanic families on soaps, you have Y&R introduce the Rosale clan. Shove them down our throats and expect us to care about them without actually writing for them as characters and giving them depth. Arturo wasn't hated when he was boning Nikki and circling around Abby. Rey fills a purpose I suppose but he's not being written for. Mia had the most potential so of course she, the woman, was fired. Lola could have been a bitch but she had to be written all over the place and now she likely has one foot out the door. Shame all around. See a pattern? Anywho ... sorry about that but just been on my mind lately. Really? Lord ... no. While the show still looked very good under him, you could see a shift from even Jill's years where she did some refreshes and got rid of a few sets but it wasn't nearly as bad. It was actually weird watching a 1999 episode and remembering the diner still around, etc. I just got so numb and used to like no sets that I was sadly surprised they were still around when I was actually watching. Sets matter on soaps (and shows). You'd think they'd know that. They matter. It's familiarity. I think that's also contributed heavily to what loses folks over the years. They turn on the show, see tons of people they don't know running around sets they don't remember. You don't give The Golden Girls a new set and expect it to work the same (it didn't).
  4. Terrible as Greenlee but I can see her as Michelle Bauer. WOO HOO!!! Holy cow Elvera Roussel and Denise Pence? AND Michael Tylo? I've died. I was hoping for Denise Pence too. I remember her being active on YouTube. Hopefully Lisa will be. Unfortunately though I think a lot of the older actors aren't necessarily YouTube/internet savvy. Not saying that applies to her, but a lot goes into these chats, LOL. So I think we may need to remember that when we wonder about where someone is. I'm crossing my fingers she's a surprise like Anna Holbrook was. I was over the moon to see Holbrook. HOW DO THESE SOAP STARS NOT AGE? Elizabeth Hubbard, Anna Holbrook, etc. all look FABULOUS.
  5. I had to think about it for a few minutes, lol. Really hard to believe the show's been dead since 1999. 21 years this summer. Wow.
  6. Exactly! You know Brad loves his Brooke vs Stephanie fetish. I did find it curious they don't list Ronn Moss in the episodes but Thorsten Kaye, even though it was Moss at the time in some of them. What are they going to do digitally replace him? LOL. Yet they list Kim Matula and point out she's played by Annika Noelle now. Weird. They think we're all too stupid to know or remember when they were played by someone else apparently. I think Brad's frequent cast changes over the decades is kind of biting him in the behind at the moment.
  7. THIS! It's live on YouTube. The Locher Room on YouTube. This is the link to it: It's definitely live, lol
  8. lol I forgot about that but yes. They had to be in on the joke, lol. I thought she did too. Or it died or something. I remember Sharlene returning to comfort her. I think we all do that sometimes with actors and actresses, lol. That's true on Joe. I would have killed Joe in the fire or like you said have Tito kill Joe. The actor didn't really bother me but Joe and Paulina were snoozeville and I just didn't like him with her and the writing for Paulina either. I liked him in family scenes, which is what I say about Rafe on DAYS. I just didn't like the angry shouty man thing the soaps adopted in the late 90s.
  9. At lot of things didn't quite work. I do seem to recall lots of interference. Claire was out then back then out. Who knows the real story?? It was messy. I could never see Labine and Rauch ever being on the same page. It was a weird pairing from the start.
  10. I think it would have worked better that way. It does appear they wanted to build towards Eve/Nick. And then ... she gets with Ed. LOL. The potential was definitely there with Eve. I actually think so.
  11. Ah yes I do remember Taggart FINALLY playing on Bill/Michelle but I never cared much about Nancy's Michelle. At all.
  12. Agreed lol. And I just love his website, he did a really great job.
  13. http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/ That's his website. I'm trying to find his "Eddietorials" link, they're a good read. EDIT: http://www.anotherworldhomepage.com/eddietor.html
  14. I can agree with this on Fletcher. I think he worked better as a supporting character in the community. Never felt 'needed' but GL was often a 'character' show. They really [!@#$%^&*] on the character in the end of his run. Me neither on Ben. It was disgusting. I also thought it was so great seeing Michelle, Bill and Ben as friends. Wasn't that kind of lost when Ben came on as Matt Bomer? I was on/off watching at the time. I forgot he talked to Bill. That was nice.
  15. YEP! It was SO contrived. I love Eddie Drueding's tirades against Jill. Entirely spot on and perfectly stated.
  16. I hated Joe Carlino. LOL. I shouldn't let that reflect on the actor but I sometimes do. Carlson was such a different Josie but I know she was popular. She was also on Blue Bloods until they dumped her and killed her character I believe (off-screen in a plane crash, of course). It's interesting how often women are sacrificed and replaced but not the men (a trend on soaps I'm starting to pick up on ...) Looking back it's like they wanted Josie to be the Harley of AW, the female cop with the tough guy cop (Gary/Mallet). Just an observation.
  17. Agreed. I do think they have had way too many cast changes over the last two decades but they can pull off theme weeks IMO. Like you said, focus on episodes that have a lot of Brooke, Taylor, Eric, Stephanie. Sally Spectra/Darlene Conley. Sheila and Lauren were both on B&B for years obviously, lol so they could be included. It could work. I think most fans are smart enough to 'get it'.
  18. Alan Locher has finally scheduled an ANOTHER WORLD reunion! Linda Dano, Stephen Schnetzer, Amy Carlson and Joe Barbara are participating. I'm happy about the first three. Thursday, April 30th @ 2pm https://www.soapoperadigest.com/content/another-world-online-reunion/
  19. Oh. I am. You know that. I think he's checked out at times on DAYS but honestly who could blame him. He can't even show any of his actual personality it seems. Look at the above. If anyone rewatched early Wilson it's truly like night and day. Anywho ...
  20. RIGHT? FINALLY. Damn. B&B kinda has no choice but to start digging into the vault.
  21. Quoted you twice but yeah there is some decent stuff in 1994. But again it's a lot of Jill showcasing her stars (Lucy, Nick, Tangie).
  22. There are times I don't mind Fletcher and almost like him but then ... MEH. I did enjoy him with Alexandra but the writing sometimes did the character of Fletcher no favors. Soaps really seemed to enjoy the angry shouty, sanctimonious man who yelled at a strong woman. (Ross falls in this trap, IMO, around 96/97) And LOL he sure did get around. Damn did he have a lot of relationships. I don't really see any chemistry between Fletcher and Vanessa. I don't mind Eve and I love Hillary Edson but from what I started watching it was just a little "how wonderful she is" and they try a little too hard, but I've always been a fan of her as an actress. It was amusing watching Ed interview for a job at Cedars knowing that in the future they get together. Just a lot of focus on a new character played by a soap hopper. Just an observation. I guess they had to establish her. Oh my God, yes! So much. I saw some of that but not the entire story yet. I also see a lot of fakeouts. Blake's dream of Holly walking in on her and Ross in bed. Then you have Holly and Ross talking about Blake and he thinks Holly's talking about him and Blake having sex but of course it was about Blake's questions to him (she covered his press conference and asked what he did the night of the blackout, LOL. This Blake is SO much fun). I know they're soap tropes and Reilly WAY overdid it, but I see it. However the entire writing staff was so talented and it was pulled off, but I see shades. Also Little Bill so damn focused on his mom and dad reuniting. It reminds me of Reilly too, with Shawn-Douglas on DAYS and other kids he wrote for. I get it ... but still. He beats you over the head with it. And the huge "true love" thing, etc. Just lots of little things I notice. But the writing staff, again, is able to pull it off. I wonder exactly how much influence he had. Seems like a lot. Exactly this. Bridget and Nadine were very much up Reilly's wheelhouse. Yes. I despise The Buzz Hour (it was also "The Lucy Hour" and currently seems like "The Nick Hour" IMO, but I love Irizarry so I'll give it a pass). It just gets worse as the years go on. Jenna was ruined with him, IMO. Nola was wasted on him. At least he and Kim Zimmer had some weird sexual thing going between them that worked. I see a lot of "look at me" scenes with Mark Derwin but he's less obnoxious for the most part. But a lot of shouting and attention (similar to Buzz, IMO). I feel like it's Jill showcasing her 'stars'. You can see what she does too all over the show but it really hits in 93/94 it seems. I see her kinda pushing Hillary Edson, Vincent Irizarry, Rick Hearst. They're all great but the show spends a LOT of time on them where I'm at in July 1992. It's sad because the show is so entertaining, even when it's moving slower, and they have a ton of characters and lots going on. Lots of different ways they can go with storylines. It's a shame Jill slowly seemed to dismantle it.
  23. Yep, I can see it too. Agreed, no excuses, but there's likely a lot of factors for their behavior. I can only hope they learned from it. I mean, even Peter Reckell and Kristian Alfonso had issues with each other on DAYS. Young, arrogant, etc. budding stars with lots of pressures to succeed. Sometimes when someone lashes out it's a reflection of themselves.
  24. That's a shame she was treated that way. There sounds like lots of drama BTS on most soaps back in the 80s. Alcohol, drugs, egos, I'm sure ... I had always wondered why she gave up Beth to play Adrienne, cut from similar cloths. She does well in that kind of role but it felt a little redundant. It makes sense now, of course, why she left GL. Meanwhile, I'm watching June 1992 of GL. Lots of it I've seen, some it's new to me. Had no idea they paired Fletcher and Vanessa? I had to of known that. Did I block it out? They have like 0 chemistry and they ALWAYS tried too hard with Fletcher, IMO. Meh. (I also feel like they try too hard with Eve and Hillary Edson and way too much Vincent Irizarry as much as I love him). Also imagine Kinkead was getting frustrated playing mother hen to "poor Melinda". I can see why McKinsey was over the show. Alexandra's "power" was stripped away over time, IMO. I'm growing to like Mallet and Harley. I hated watching him in the wheelchair for whatever reason. I notice a lot of Reilly-isms (like Alan-Michael laser focused on Eleni and nothing but, etc), but it's nice to have it more layered, more depth, and I credit the rest of the writers for that. Blake and Ross is hot as hell. It's a shame they became so boring once Liz Keifer came onboard. They seemed to want to neuter the 'bad girls'. Jenna in her return 1996-1998 was like a different character. I LOVE early Jenna. So much fun. The humor. Eddie Mekka. Her exchange with Nadine at the non-wedding was hilarious and getting stuck with Michelle then adds layers to her. I miss that kind of writing. Not a popular opinion but I think Ed and Lillian had great chemistry. I LOVE Maureen with Roger. It's a real shame they didn't go there. I love the dialogue they have about Holly and how Ross and Ed coddle her. Roger also pointed out Maureen wanted to kill the woman but not the man and wondered why. Love it. 1993 doesn't do the show any favors. I really like a lot of what's going on in 1992.
  25. lol at this thread!
