Yeah, he did. It's fun seeing Charles Shaughnessy play three roles. Drew, Shane and Victor Cassadine. He's so good. I loved the Drew twist.

The show feels so directionless. I don't want it as dark and depressing as it once became but man gimme something. It's time to start amping things up and wrapping up some things. As someone who dislikes Phil (though Kat helps lessen that truthfully, which is bizarre to say), it was fun to see him be bashed over the head with a baseball bat by Shirley and then Janine traipsing over his unconscious body, giving no care to him. LOL. I don't think the writing is too bad for Janine yet. We will see. It's strange because I do find some things enjoyable, the majority of cast/characters aren't bad, but the show as a whole feels ... lost? To be fair, the show has had far worse periods. They were going in a really bad direction (the Ian stuff, even if I could kinda buy it; but they really made everything about him ugly and toxic) but things seemed to be in a holding pattern for a while and they couldn't rely on their stunts during the pandemic and filming protocols. I'd argue the show benefited from that even if it's not very interesting. I'll take Jean with a garage full of marijuana and Janine starting a fire in the Mitchell house over Denny drowning to death and Ian being poisoned by Sharon

From the merch, to the promos, to the tweets, it's never ending propping of certain characters lol. So much else they could show. I get the drama aspect of Peter's sudden arrival, but none of us care about Peter or Mr. Julliard. This is where the disconnect comes from with a lot of us.

Yeah I've been hearing it was Johnny who had Sami kidnapped, and I know it's Ron so he does stupid [!@#$%^&*] and explains it away later, but why? To get funding for his movie? To make it more interesting? I agree with you it doesn't really make sense. So of course it will be him I'm willing to overlook certain things. LOL. This will probably be the highlight of the show going forward. I mean, I get the criticism and I roll my eyes hearing anyone on a soap wants to make a movie or write a book but I'm all for history revisited. Jarlena family drama and interaction? YES PLEASE. It also leads to ... and yes this is spoilers but I'm using spoiler tags

Kate Collins never got her due. She is fabulous and absolutely carried those years. The Ross/Natalie rape was one of those "on paper this could be good" but it really wasn't. It killed Ross as a character and then Natalie was stuck in Trevor hell

I've grown to like her in the role, truthfully, but yes, the writing hasn't done her any favors. Jordan lost her edge. You saw a bit of fire come out with Cyrus. I have mixed feelings but the character feels ... done. Unfortunately. But who knows? Maybe she survives yet again LOL

I see what you're saying. But I see underlying issues with the show. It definitely is still the best of the four. It has a lot of potential. I disagree with some of the writing directions they've taken and I don't think they do other stories enough justice or time. Frank interferes when he needs to let Dan and Chris write. They get it. He wants something else. It's really how it is. And I'm surprised people can't see how they've veered off direction in the last couple of months. I'm annoyed because I was mostly enjoying it and the fallout of some of the stories. Was the Michael/Willow/Chase reveal soapy? Is everyone supporting Jarly soapy? I understand "soapless" could be taken a lot of ways so maybe that wasn't the best word to use lol Frank Valentini is the issue to me. The writers get it. He's been the constant over the last few writing regimes. Just because the story threads are soapy and full of potential doesn't mean the execution is always well done or delivers on a pay-off. If the effort, vision and soapiness are there, why are fans finding a lot of things falling flat? It's a large growing consensus on social media the show has lost it's direction in the last few months. The show improved when Dan came onboard and Varni no longer had an influence. Frank's hands are all over it. I'm annoyed because I DO see the potential. I still enjoy several stories that are on-going. It's not all "horrible" but I know they can do better so when I see ... issues I'll call them out. Maybe I don't always go about it the right way or say it the right way ... lol

I appreciate someone finally calling out Nina's delusions. Too bad it's Dingo but it works. Joyce Guy looks great today. I love her hair down. Not looking good for Jordan. Jason and Carly have no chemistry. Gladys' reaction to Brando being a stripper. LMAO. I'm sorry but I love her. And I'd rather watch Mrs. Wu, Mr. Buscema and Vincent Novak over a lot of other characters ... kind of sad when you think about it.

I really could too. I wouldn't mind. Frank loves handing out contracts ... It's so crazy to me they've never bothered with Sarah Webber after, what, 2001/2002? Scott could work in a number of roles on DAYS/Y&R/GH. I'd love to see him get picked up.

It was great seeing them! They did a fantastic job. Frantz seems to hint at more news for her to come so I wonder if B&B came calling?

ALL OF THIS! Even some Howarth stans on social media are realizing Austin is a failure of a character already. The show is a hot mess and fans see it. LW did well. She never phones it in. I go back and forth on her version of Carly. I also think the writing for Jarly lends itself to a good story but how they got here right now is just a huge WTF mess honestly. This writes itself!! lol Agreed on who to dump. I also want a recast Michael. Frank's greasy hands are all over this mess. Anytime there's a solid or positive direction it seems to get blown to hell.

Yay! Glad to have more Hollyoaks discussion! I've fallen a tad behind so I hope to catch up this weekend. I love the adorable actor playing Timmy. He does such a good job. It is a shame the role is clearly limited. He's a good find. I'll add more thoughts as I catch up but yeah, I feel that's where they may be headed with Donna-Marie ...

Agreed. And it's time to overhaul the main show. I know it's easier to get certain names for a limited series or short run so I don't expect certain characters regularly but it would be nice to refresh the feel of the main show. Time to dump some characters. I have to say it but if they aren't going to write for them MBE and SN should be recurring. It's time for Carrie, Will/Sonny, a bit more Tony/Anna ...

LOL yes on Billie and that damn cop suit. And you nailed it about Rinna. Agreed on Eileen too. I wish there was more for Kristen too. It really is two different Kristen's when it comes to Eileen and Stacy. I'm thrilled we got Eileen as Kristen again. No shade to Stacy intended but Eileen IS Kristen. Beyond Salem revived my love for all the characters involved. I think we all needed this limited series, as the main show is ... yikes.

There better be some damn soapy drama. It's complete BS that everyone is propping Jarly and supportive of their marriage. GH has forgotten it's a soap again. I mean, look at that awful Willow/Chase/Michael reveal. I get someone likely said "just end this" but still. We shall see. I want a Red Wedding and DRAMA. But this is Frank's GH.

THIS. I don't even recall Lisa being this in character as Billie in 2013, personally (or even 2018). Not that she was given much except a once a month pop in. She's renewed my love for her version of Billie again. Crazy how the characters feel fully fleshed out on Beyond Salem. They've done a great job.

Same. I like the set but the background distracts me for some reason. It does seem cheap. Meanwhile, I love NO MEGHAN! So much better. 100000x better. And I didn't realize how much I missed them being in the studio and having a live audience.
