  1. Marcia was on SFT from 1978 to 1986. Since Daytimers was in publication in the late 70s and early 80s, the article Paul referenced above was clearly referencing another appearance she had on AW prior to joining SFT, not her stint as Bunny in the mid-90s.
  2. No. Michael Park played Jack Snyder on As the World Turns. Michael Parks (with an s) was on Then Came Bronson. And John's correct. Michael Park was in the pilot.
  3. 13 Bourbon Street was slated for late night airing on FOX. It was originally slated to air at 11:00 p.m. five nights a week. Later, before FOX bailed on the show, it had decided to air 13 Bourbon Street once a week in prime time. Actor/writer Richard Backus described all of this in an article recently posted on SON. The USA soap was titled The Avenue. It was slated to air five nights a week in the early evening. A Variety article in April 1999 stated it was set for an early 2000 debut. A novelist named Todd Komarnicki was credited as being the creator, not Sharon DeBord. The show was to be set in Queens, New York and was described as being similar to EastEnders.
  4. Gloria was Lucinda's mother. Mary Ellen Walters.
  5. Bay City was at one time set in Michigan. I recall a scene around 1980 when Mitch was presumed dead where it was clear that Bay City was in Michigan. Later, the setting was established as Illinois.
  6. I'm grateful for sites like the Another World Home Page because they shed clarity on the actual history of soaps and disprove much of this misinformation. I have seen that line about Agnes Nixon killing off all the Gregorys for years. I think it even made its way into books about soaps. Didn't she supposedly kill the whole family off in a car or plane crash? As you pointed out, Bert and Cora Gregory were minor supporting characters. From what I read, Bert lasted all of three months and Cora lasted for about four months. They were both dropped while James Lipton was writing. I didn't know that House Jameson and Florence Williams portrayed Bert and Cora. A few years later, they were both cast on The Doctors in the roles of journalist Nathan Bunker and Edna Hamilton (Althea's mother).
  7. The Another World Homepage shows a lot of this is urban legend. Irna was the one who got rid of Granny Matthews and the one who created Ernest Gregory. Lipton later introduced other members of the Gregory family. Alex Gregory stopped appearing while Lipton was head writer. A month later, Agnes killed off the character. She killed off one Gregory, not the whole family as has been claimed for decades. She dropped Karen Gregory days into her run and a month later wrote out Ernest.
  8. I believe Stephen started in 1980, not 1981. A newspaper article I saw online announced his casting in early September 1980.
  9. Yes. Mary Jo Keenan played Kat.
  10. What an amazing find! Thanks for sharing this. I had a few thoughts and observations about the opening. One was that, unless I missed it, I didn't see any sign of Louise Shaffer's Stephanie Wyatt in the opening. Also, the opening really illustrates Mary Stuart's comments about how the show shifted the role of the matriarch to Kate McCleary. Kate is definitely featured more prominently that Jo. Also, based upon the date on the video, this was produced while Erwin Nicholson was executive producer. I wonder if he may have used whoever had created the final opening sequence for The Edge of Night. There are definite similarities between Edge's final opening and this one for Search.
  11. Unfortunately, I've never seen "Delirious." When I was at Rosemont, I had encouraged the powers that be to reach out to Agnes to see if she would do a campus talk. Unfortunately, they didn't express any interest. It was such a shame. You have this Emmy award-winning writer living In the same town and you make no effort to reach out to her. I made the suggestion right around the time of the "unabortion". It would have been fascinating to hear Agnes' thoughts on that story. I know that the sequence where Angie sees an alive Jesse at a train station was filmed in New Hope, PA, about an hour north of Philadelphia. Across the Delaware River from New Hope is Lambertville, NJ, which was used to depict the town of Somerset in that soap opera's final opening credits.
  12. Kathryn Hays did not replace Geraldine Court on the As the World Turns. It was Gillian Spencer who replaced Geraldine Court as Jennifer Hughes.
  13. The Mansion of the Damned set seems to be a nice blend of the Collingswood foyer and drawing room from Dark Shadows, though the staircase is a bit different. Edge seemed to really invest in new sets in 1979, including the Madison's house. I was always disappointed the Madison house wasn't reused after the family was written out.
  14. I can see Pine Valley being based on both Bryn Mawr and Rosemont, which is where Agnes lived I believe. Having gone to graduate school on the Main Line (Rosemont College), I'm not sure Llanview is based on an actual town on the Main Line. Perhaps I might be based on Lancaster, PA. I do recall an episode of All My Children that featured a map that showed Llanview, Pine Valley, and Corinth were all located in the Main Line area. My thesis advisor lived in Ardmore (also on the Main Line) and there is a Llanfair Circle and Llanfair Road in Ardmore.
  15. When I was in college back around 1984, I came across a soap-related book in my university library. The book included a story projection for Love of Life that involved Meg's return. I recall it was pretty detailed and did involve Sarah. As part of the story, I think Bruce was going to feel alienated by Van and was going to start an extramarital affair with another woman. I'm hoping to go over to the university library after the semester is over to see if I can locate the book.
  16. What could have been much more interesting is if the twist involved Alex and Alan’s mother Penelope. Let’s say Sharina worked for the Spauldings. Trapped in a loveless marriage to Brandon, Penelope struck up a friendship with Sharina’s brother Conrad and they started an affair. Penelope becomes pregnant and gives birth to a daughter, Victoria, who is clearly Conrad’s child. Angered by the betrayal, Brandon comes up with an elaborate lie that Penelope died in childbirth and exiles Penelope and Victoria to Barbados. In 1984, the truth is revealed and Alex discovers her mother is alive and she has a half-sister. So much story fodder could have come from this twist. How would Alex and Alan react to their mother being alive and the realization that she stayed out of their lives for decades, leaving them with a cruel unloving father? This could have been a chance to not only introduce Victoria as a permanent character but also perhaps a short story arc for Penelope. They could have cast a name actress for Penelope. I’m envisioning someone like Barbara Stanwyck.
  17. That’s my recollection too; she had been offered the role of Lydia after Edge was cancelled. If I remember correctly, people wrongly assumed she had been offered the role of Echo based upon Sharon’s description of the character.
  18. I only recollect Kim Hamilton portraying Victoria briefly in 1984. And then, as you pointed out, her daughter showed up in 1998. I really liked the original Vicky — Karen Williams, who would sometimes use an accent in her performances.
  19. How did their daughter Victoria suffer from recasting and retconning?
  20. These two websites make the claim that Mona was friends with Kitty's mom Lucy: http://www.eyeonsoaps.com/AMC/char - myrtle.htm http://www.pinevalleybulletin.com/Quick Guide/BiographiesWeb/FargateMyrtleLum.html Whether those sites are accurate is another story. The first site falsely makes the claim that Kitty left Pine Valley in 1979. If I recall correctly, Kitty died in 1977.
  21. That was mentioned on here months ago. It was when people were discussing whether this was a short arc for Halloween. Someone (possibly Errol?) said this was a long-term storyline and was still airing as of February 2022.
  22. Yep. It was in 1995. WT Martin played the role.
  23. Chelsea arrived over a year after Nola left so they never interacted. I believe the Reardons returned for Maureen’s funeral but were not seen. Bridget was the daughter of Sean Reardon, brother to Nola, Tony, Maureen, Jim, Chelsea, and Lana, who was never seen. Sean had other children, including Matt.
  24. I thought that the Sheas had great potential, but Corinne Jacker quickly scrapped the entire family. Poor Loretta, played by the always excellent Anita Gillette, lasted all of three months. Harry lasted seven months. And Pete was gone after 10 months. Daughters Bridget and Terri were originally slated to be teenagers. I remember reading about that in one of the soap rags. I recall at least one of the Shea daughters appeared on screen, but she was a child not a teen as had been announced earlier.
  25. If I recall correctly, the actor who played the creepy guy in the film was Robert Emhardt, who originated the role of Mac Cory on Another World.
