I have said before and will say again-almost all of 1997 was a mess. The only bright light was the Carly/AJ/Michael saga. Miranda being entirely dropped threw off the intended Cassadine story and it was handed to Alexis, the Stefan/Katherine debacle, Genie being gone, the absolute stupidity of the Sonny/Brenda/Jax nonsense, Kevin/Lucy being on their way out, the Pierce Dorman mess which I still don't understand (he's a drug lord?). Somethings couldn't be helped casting wise like Rena leaving, Genie's maternity leave, KMc going part time, LH/JL going to PC, LH as Miranda bombing and VM and MB being wishy washy about staying or leaving, but, man, the momentum was lost. 1998 even with Guza had some moments, but also a lot of iffy stories like Brenda's breakdown and the Tale of 2 Macs. I really think Guza had a pretty good idea of where he was headed and I wouldn't be surprised if he kept it to himself. Casting issues may have taken him out too, but I think it would have at least been more coherent that year if he had stayed.

Agreed. As long as he takes Violet with him though.

I can't believe Andrew just let Theresa go with that flimsy ass excuse lol. Oh well, at least your cute Andrew! Kostantin is ridiculous. Hiding behind Christmas trees and eavesdropping? He needs to go. I don't get why John/Steve/the ISA aren't working with Jada and the police on the kidnapping. You'd think they fill Jada in on their own rogue investigation.

Thank you! That's more or less what I thought. The thing is with a Melanie pairing he would have always had some story even if he was on the backburner for a bit. Perhaps Hapka thought the jobs would roll in a just miscalculated. I doesn't seem like an insurmountable difference to work out especially when the regime changed and they could have brought Nathan back, but I guess the character was just dropped instead. AK's Stephanie just lacks depth in general. She is practically perfect in every way without nuance and has numerous men fighting for her attention. It's just a very simplistic view of the character and it makes Stephanie boring.

Today's episode was okay. I don't have much to say about it. All I have to say is I feel bad for those poor Pub employees. Stefan screaming at them to bring him more drinks, Stefan/Chad yelling at each other across the entire restaurant, and Chad knocking over chairs. I can't believe no one kicked them out. @SoapsudsNo Andrew today. He just called Theresa to meet on the phone. ETA- Welcome to the board @MissPhoenixGirl92!!

I think Nathan was pretty popular. Wasn't Hapka a bit of a problem though? Again, I don't know if we were ever clear if Nathan was an only child, so perhaps a brother or sister could show up. Since Nathan went by the last name Horton I would assume Melissa and his father aren't together still though.

Lars. Then she was with Jack and then Emilio who she ended up killing lol. I wonder if they were going to try to connect Nathan's father to someone on the canvas or bring his father on later, but nope. I guess we will never know. I wasn't even clear if Melissa was still married to Nathan's father or if he had siblings either.

I'm not arguing Sloan did something really stupid by leaving the baby unattended. I am just wondering why everyone was acting like Sloan was being unreasonable with her reactions to Nicole. I don't think she was. Just because Sloan did something stupid doesn't make Nicole doing something stupid right.

Today's episode was okay. I thought Chad/Stephanie broke up when she moved out. Guess not. Decent scenes. I am not too heartbroken over it. So nothing happened with Harris which I assumed, but is that it? Is this plot point going anywhere lol? As far as Paulina, I am interested in the story, but I thought this woman was getting regular checkups after all those panic attacks and issues she was having during the Sloan saga. The Nicole/Eric/Sloan/EJ stuff was good. This part of the story was really rushed though. The kidnapping should have lasted more than 1 episode. And, yes, clearly Sloan is wrong because she did steal Nicole's baby, but people are acting like she is crazy for having a perfectly normal reaction. Nicole has demanded a DNA test and now kidnapped Jude and everyone is like you are completely overreacting Sloan! With the current facts the characters have she really isn't at all lol.

I liked him all the way through the Diana/John story. Or at least didn't dislike him. I wouldn't mind him coming in and out. I wouldn't mind him as a "friend of" if you will. I wouldn't even mind him as supporting. The main character nonsense is my issue. He's evil, but isn't a villian and we are made to sympathize with someone who has 0 redeeming qualities.

I personally didn't think Monica/LC looked that awful. You can tell she's a bit frail but I thought her lines were delivered fine. Also, people need to warn me on this thread if there is Robert/Diane "sexy" time. Even if it's just alluded to. Someone on here thankfully warned me about Violet singing so I was prepared. Not prepared for Robert/Diane.๐

Guza takes over on March 4th, 1996 with Karen Harris. Guza departs and Culliton and Harris take over on Aug. 6th of the same year. Culliton takes over solo briefly then Iacobuzio/Whitesell and Guza is back by December 1997.*** Clink Boom is May 1996, so I don't know if that was entirely Guza's idea or part of Labine's story arc. I always though Guza created Miranda, but she doesn't appear until later in 1996 although she was hinted at for awhile. Culliton does most of the culmination of the triangle including S&B's reunion. I/W do the actual non-wedding. And Sonny is gone by the time Guza comes back in 1997. So in all honesty, Guza didn't write a lot for Sonny/Brenda/Jax-just their most famous moment. Labine did most of the heavy lifting with Sonny/Brenda. ***All these dates are from Wikipedia, so take that for what it's worth. I also don't know how involved Guza was before he took over in 1996. I was always under the impression ideas like pivoting Jax to Brenda were more Guza ideas than Labine's, but the dates don't really support that. I am sure someone on this board has articles or better knowledge of the Labine/Guza transition, but those are just some dates to help you out.
