Yeah, Kristen is a character that I think currently needs a long break. In a year or so try to get ED back and make Kristen's schemes and stories more inline with what originally made Kristen so great. Not this nonsense with Brady and Dimera Enterprises.

You know at some point I honestly think they should have killed off Roman. Once it was too late to give the character back to Drake, and the weak John/Marlena/Roman 3.0 triangle was done, Roman should have been killed off and JT could just reappear as Chris Kositcheck. The show does this all the time and I think it would be much easier to take. Sami would have one less person defending her horrible behavior, but what has JT contributed to Roman really in 25 years?

I haven't been there in ages and didn't personally read that info, but I think they are usually pretty accurate-at least their spoilers are. Taylor is a wasted character. It's a shame they couldn't figure out casting. I thought NL was better than TB to be honest though. I loved Wayne's Roman and Drake's. Not sure who JT is playing but it's not Roman. I don't think Eileen wants to do that. I am sure both shows would accommodate her.

I think Lenz probably set herself up well with OTH. She stayed with the show the entire run. It's also a lot easier doing Hallmark movies than day to day soaps. Too bad. I have always liked her work. I just don't get Drew's point. He basically only exists for Carly right now. The only other things he does is talk to Michael and try to send Scout off to boarding school. He's not even fauxJason anymore. If and when he and Carly break up he would have nothing to do.

Unpacking the tragedy that was Katherine Bell is for the Classic GH thread, but it was bad. So against the type of character MBE excels at. They threw so many things at Katherine Bell that I can't even type out her history. SN was great as Stefan, but MBE just was bad all around as Katherine. I generally don't mind her as Kayla. I don't "get" Patch/Kayla, but they seem to work well together. John/Marlena are way more my jam here.

They were both pretty young so I am sure they are fine now. It was in Frantz's dating Johnny Rzeznik era and they were both obnoxious and entitled. Before BJL was even on One Tree Hill so I am really aging myself here lol. I grew up/lived in a tourist trap in Ca so I have actually met a lot of soap stars. Steve Burton might have been the nicest. I know I will regret saying that, but he was really lovely and shorter than I thought. CM just seems like a guy that will go with the flow and be easy to deal with. He's handsome and slightly charming, so I can see the idea behind hiring him. It's just very, very dull in execution.

Lenz feels a little young to me to be Liz's older sister, but I think she would kill the role. They look much more alike than RH and Jennifer Sky did. I actually met BJL in real life years ago in a real life, non soap setting and....she wasn't the best. She was with Adrienne Frantz and she wasn't great either. As far as GT as Skye-I consider Skye older than both Carly/Brenda and GT seems like that's the age range she fits (Carly/Brenda). It would work fine though. I would push for Carrie Genzel though. Loved her take on Skye. Again, I don't hate Drew/CM, but his existence feels unnecessary. It's just like Carly needs a love interest when we all know she'll go back to Sonny eventually (unless Queen Brenda returns🤞), but that's why he is on the canvas.

I prefer Shane/Kim as well. I have no problem with MBE on Days. She seems like a delightful person. I had a lot of problems with her on GH though. IMO she seemed way more checked out and unclear of her character there than she ever has on Days.

🤣I love the idea of BJL as Sarah. For some reason I feel like GT is too young for Skye, but I could be wrong. BM did what he could with the role and with Drew. CM seems like he just playing Ryan Lavery on a different soap. I don't see any chemistry with anyone there although CM seems like a nice guy.

Gina Tognoni? Lol! I wouldn't hate it. I am definitely more of a Steve Burton/Jason fan than a BM fan, but his take on Jason was lighter and refreshing. Jason became such a downer of a character under Steve and I did enjoy the humor BM brought to the table and I did think BM had nice chemistry with Monaco and Herbst.

I don't mind Steve and Kayla. I am not an uber or anything, but I think they are nice. I don't think anyone will top the John/Marlena/Bo/Hope quad, but I am fine with Steve/Kayla pinch hitting here. I don't have any insider info, but I think we have Stacey for the time being. I haven't heard anything about Eileen.

Sarah as a teen and young adult was pretty general and ill defined that you could do anything with her. I can almost see why the show has a hard time with her. But if you are casting Liz's sister just cast Sarah not some weird random sister. Gh loves to cast names in random roles. I am not going to lie, but I actually liked BM's take on Jason. It wasn't true to Jason really, but it was at least interesting and he was nice to Monica.

Well, at least he's fired now lol. I don't think it's weird that J/M are paired with S/K because I enjoy their friendship even if it's slightly off with history. Johnny seems like a bit of a mess of a character overall and his purpose/intentions have always been ignored. I don't think Marlena and John necessarily have a lack of family scenes. I have actually never thought John/Marlena have been ignored under Ron/Alarr. They do get story. It's not peak 90's story, but it isn't John in a coma for almost a year either.

I'll be honest and say Hayden is just a character that's a weird fever dream for me. Why didn't they just make her Sarah? Why does this character even exist? If the show was going to get a name and hire Budig why did they make the character so random and awful?

Yeah. Got it. I really will be bummed if they used all Deidre's guarantees because they barely use Drake as it is. I have faith that it will work out because Ron seems to love Marlena and she's pretty pivotal to a lot that's going on even in a supporting role.

Lol! I am not even ashamed to say it took me a minute to wonder why Violet called Liz "Aunt Liz" and I thought she was way too familiar with her dad's girlfriend. 🤣

I think the lisp gets me. And again, I am fully admitting to being a horrible human that's making fun of a child. I don't find her cute or precocious. If I was Liz I'd run far. Because of Finn obviously and that daughter of his.

John/Marlena go through story peaks and valleys. I would love to see John/Marlena everyday and we practically did see Marlena every day last month. Ron loves Marlena, so I am not too worried about them getting a story again.

Absolutely. I think it's on Ron and the producer. I still think the ideas and stories are there, but no one is thinking about pacing and character because Jamey is thinking about how many laughs and odd nods to history he can fit in to his one day a week breakdown. It something that starts from the top.

Right? I just think a good writer would have to think about timing, logistics, actor availability, budget, etc. I don't think Jamie thinks about these things. It's just one great broad idea that looks okay on paper. Again, Duke the bear is not part of this because someone had to be very drunk and high to greenlight that.🤣

I didn't listen to the podcast ever, but I found a lot of his opinions and takes aligned with my own. That doesn't mean I love him as a fictional writer, but he does have a love and knowledge for the genre. But most people on this board do as well. We probably all couldn't write for soaps, I do think a lot of people on here can though (not myself lol) I just don't think loving a genre correlates to good writing. I think the ideas might be there, but getting from point A to point B is another issue. Also, no excuse for Duke the Bear.

Oh definitely. I think there is a big difference between liking his writing and admiring his hustle to make his dream happen. Good for him! He is getting lots of work and at the end of the day it doesn't matter if I think he's a hack lol. I have to say I did like a lot of his work on Daytime Confidential though.
