  1. Janie and Holden dated in the 1980s on and off, presumably before he met Lily. Back when he was deviously plotting to get in between Dusty and Lily, (while his sister Meg was trying to seduce Dusty), I remember a few occasions where Holden deliberately used Janie to make Lily jealous. She appeared onscreen, more than once. I hate it when soap writers pull characters out of nowhere and create some ridiculously spun backstory. At least use someone that can be seen in a classic clip, then it might have some resonance. Even if you didn't see Dusty and Janie "together", viewers can still draw the conclusion that it was plausible since everybody knew that Janie lived in Luther's Corners and existed during that time.
  2. @victoria foxton It's funny but I identified with the kids in Stephanie, Joey, Wheels and Lucy Fernandez' age group when I actually belonged to the younger group that came in, the one that the likes of Stephanie would've mocked for being younger, LOL. I loved how awkward and unaffected the dialogue could be. I heard that the kids themselves sometimes helped shape how their characters talked. The show handled a lot of big drama (like Spike's pregnancy, that played out over successive series like TNG) but I also loved those small moments like the aching secondary embarrassment I felt for one of the characters, Melanie, who had a crush on Snake, when she tried to chat him up, only to moments later, discover she had lipstick on her teeth! A short scene, but a scene I will always remember! In describing it, I know, the scene doesn't sound like much but if you watch it...Snake's reaction and later Melanie's reaction are everything! LOL I was also surprised when years later, I read about the episodes that were banned or blocked from airing in some countries, or even ones that were slightly censored before airing. I watched the PBS channel in NYC so the abortion episode in Degrassi High that censored the part where the woman puts a toy fetus in the hand of one of the twins in front of the clinic, many people claim that part was edited out in the U.S. but I saw it! Fascinating! In many ways Degrassi was better written then than many daytime soaps are today, though Degrassi had far less resources (especially back then) but the writers actually paid attention to things like continuity, over time. For instance, the Spike pregnancy issue and also the fact that her best friend in childhood Liz, who was the main antagonist to one of the twins who had the abortion--it made sense that Liz eventually became a midwife. If only Y&R and ATWT had that type of grasp of history in regards to their characters decades later.
  3. So Manafort has been consulting with Giuliani concerning Ukraine...while behind bars? What a cabal of criminals! I saw that picture posted above earlier and some miserable ninny in the subtweets was advising them to sell the beachfront property because of floods and climate change. I wanted to ask "How do you know that it's even theirs, fool? It could be rented or just a getaway. Why not worry about the trash currently residing in the White House?"
  4. Doesn't he basically wish to be tossed out at this point? Let's face it, the 2016 campaign was originally a ploy to draw more investors, he never truly expected to win and he discovered in the first 100 days that he really didn't want the job. AFAIK, the only thing that's kept him hanging in has been his enormous ego (and later his wish to avoid possible prosecution for other matters). Otherwise, he's been trying to find ways to get out of the job, while still saving face.
  5. The irony of both IMDB TV and Pluto TV streaming TNG on their platforms. I often wonder why the OG series, DJH and DH seem to get little love publicly but I saw that there's a Canadian channel named Encore+ on YouTube that apparently streams all of the Degrassi Junior High/DH series. I've got such a fondness for Degrassi Junior High and DH when most of the repertory was made up of non-actors and first time actors. So, at least it hasn't been forgotten by a streaming platform.
  6. Geez, I feel fortunate to either have forgotten or simply not been watching some of this crap. If the show wanted to pull a character from Luther's Corners that Dusty could have met, why didn't they just use Janie Cobb? And Janie and Holden dated so it might have at least made use of some plausible history, instead of nonsense.
  7. Marland didn't even have a co-HW and yet he's responsible for half of those Emmys.
  8. Just. Delusional.
  9. This is what you'd call 'straight from the horse's mouth".
  10. I was beginning to forget all about this one. Quite a few cases coming out of the classical performing arts world these days.
  11. It seems as if the ATP/WTA/ITF want to do their best to 'de-publicize' this as well as the fighting at the China Open so they can continue to chase dollars. This is reminiscent of the ATP's efforts to dampen criticism around Justin Gimelstob and his criminal assault charges. Their preference is to focus on the likes of Kyrgios and Serena as being the worst problems for tennis. Their stance was that chair umpires (e.g. Carlos Ramos) are flawless and to be trusted implicitly, despite the fact that Ramos has shown clear bias in past incidents.
  12. Unfortunately it seems as if he's taking America/American democracy down with him. Mercifully I missed the tirade but every time I hear of one of these incidents whether on social media or at a press conference or summit, I wonder how the U.S. will survive having had such a reckless individual at the helm.
  13. And so it is done.
  14. Meanwhile,
  15. Does Yovanovitch even work for the State Department anymore? I seriously doubt Pompeo ever had any hold on her, so I don't see her having one iota of regard for what he wants in the matter.
  16. There was a news story on last night's news that security is being 'beefed up' at many theaters that are screening Joker because some authorities fear the threat of mass shootings and violence. I don't plan on seeing the movie but part of me wonders how this could affect turnout.
  17. Mr. Obba Babatunde reminding you that he once made his living as a dancer as well as an actor at the Dolemite Is My Name red carpet.
  18. For those of us who live in states that support Net Neutrality, it is likely to reinforce actions already in the making (i.e. restoration of the rule) but for those who live in states that don't...
  19. A ruling on Net Neutrality that offers mixed results. Net neutrality court ruling: States can set own rules
  20. Speaking of Andy Murray, this is kinda funny.
  21. Kerber is far far far from one of my faves but this seems to qualify as a type of low-grade harassment on account of some members of the China Open crowd. Of course, that sign is in reference to Kerber's post-match remarks about Andreescu in Miami.
