Oh my, he repeated stereotypes too? I sort of remember the psychiatric storyline but I must have forgotten details over the years. I was in elementary school back then, I probably wouldn't have recognized the stereotype anyway. In 1987, at least viewers would have seen Detective Frank Lewis, his daughter Amy Lewis and Nathan Hastings was on the canvas by then, I think. The presence of those characters must have dulled any negative impact of that asylum character.

The CBS brand is trash. Sharon was an albatross that needed to be dumped but the show had been losing viewers already so extending the controversy would only hasten the bleeding. If people want to see racism served up for ratings, they can find a stream of The Real World reunion on Paramount+. At least people care about those people. Very few people actually care about The Talk to that extent. Like someone else said, the news cycle moves fast and people were already moving onto other news stories.

Why did she have to be the pig, terrorizing poor Leslie? White midwestern ladies must've been scandalized.

One thing that I really appreciate whenever I get a chance to see episodes from this era of Y&R is the use of colloquial dialogue. As much as I love writing/hearing elevated dialogue, when it comes to seeing scenes that are supposed to feature people from everyday walk of life, a natural sounding dialogue usually works best. And it's so much more meaningful than the constant snark and one-liners that present day Y&R seems to prefer, at times. The acting seems solid and the patients and "Brett" all seem terrible, but did they have to make the one black character seem so overtly aggressive? She was bordering on terrorizing Leslie!. Just oof.

Here's an actual news item where someone likely prevented a mass shooting. Honestly, people who work in the supermarket, shopping and delivery services just don't get paid enough.

No offense to Hudson, who seems like an affable, serviceable actor but I would think he is probably a more "affordable" talent than someone who is as in demand as David. I know MAB was stuck on pop culture figures but the people she often brought on always seemed like they'd be the most likely to come in under budget, and some were valued way under budget. TBH, I have no expectations for Y&R ever being able to get David unless he were intrigued about working with the group of actors he'd be working with or if he'd never worked on a daytime soap ( has he ever worked on a daytime drama?) and were curious, because we all know he's not pressed for work.

If they got Keith David, I would start watching this show again. Don't kill him off though. He can go on extended business trips or travels when the actor is otherwise engaged in other projects but I will be furious if they decide to kill off the character. Although realistically, I am not sure they can afford David. He does a lot of voicework, in addition to a screen and stage career, so I am not sure about his availability and I don't think he is hurting for money (but the money issue is just my guess).

My thoughts exactly. People forgot about what happened the last time folks decided to count Georgia voters out of the equation.

So these people, who dropped their other "Lost Cause", after it flopped, have latched onto conspiracy theory mongering over the vaccines. Someone needs to start following the money because, guaranteed, there are people making money from this, as they were with the other Lost Cause.🙄

Why not develop Moses as an individual character before throwing him into Faith's orbit? My expectations are even lower now for this character to be viable. Maybe the new staff writer will be writing for him? That might be the sole hope this character will have.

Y&R seems to struggle with just about every AA character. They did a bit better at the beginning of the Barber/Winters stories and had a decent run before completely dropping down. Let's not get into the writing for Mamie, Tyrone, Jazz and Kong.

While many people may be tweaked by him, I thought this video had some interesting insights into the nature of power and privilege and some humans seeming need to codify and enshrine these aspects in other humans, like the monarchy. I guess my question has always been why this is, especially in an age in which we are supposed to be so enlightened as a species.

TPTB could have brought back most in the late 90s/early 00s, especially seeing as not much else was going on then (not much that wasn't totally contrived, that is. In the show's last decade, it would have given Lisa something to do.

90% of the WHPC need to be removed in favor of reporters who actually want to do their jobs. That press conference was an apt illustration of this.

In her defense, Madison had COVID-19 and hasn't really played all year. Also, Keys has never developed a Plan B in her game. And she needs one.

Is Tennis Channel trying to pretty this one up?

I haven't been paying much attention to tennis lately but whoa, what a mess on the ATP side today!

He probably just asked, tbh. Others could've been doing what he's doing but over the years, especially since the end of ATWT and GL, I have gotten the sense that the soap blogs out there weren't interested in most of the actors from these shows unless they were on one of the remaining soaps or considered "hot" and "current". Prinz has relevance and fans of the show need to show up and give these icons their "flowers" while they're still around to receive them (regardless of how we may feel about the host). All those so-called fans better show up. In the back of my mind, the thought also surfaces that maybe someone from P&G could look at the views and gauge if there is any interest in doing another collection of these shows (a la SoapClassics). Judging from the views of classic episodes, there would be no reason to do any further box sets in the future.

No quibbling, I am going to listen to this one.

Some of us already figured this to be the case.
