Wow, you went further with your depressing prediction than even I did.... The sad part is that I can very well imagine that your scenario is what will happen..... It just shows what state this show is in at the moment, and how little trust one has in the showrunners.
I've just had a horrible thought.... Since Faith has terminal cancer, I sincerely hope that they're not planning to have her die in early October, so that the 50th anniversary episode will be her funeral, mirroring the first episode being the funeral of Jacob Sugden.
