Y&R: Old Articles
I visited Kay a few weeks ago and she's doing good. I recorded her watching old scenes. The stuff on the legal pads were her notes when she was still a PhD student studying soap opera. Just as Agnes always talked about "Brotherhood of Man" Bill was always stressing over 'The Human Equation" -- that was his term. Later, I will post other stuff she had and I found. They maintained a folder called "Brock One Liners" where Kay and Elizabeth Horrower would find various quotes for Brock to use and they would keep track of them in a document in a folder. I scanned the whole thing. And evidently Bill didn't take too kindly to story consultants but he had a GREAT respect for Elizabeth. Kay said that she was very off the wall but in a good way and was very eccentric and wrote very eccentric stuff. They instructed her to write specific scenes for Kay/Jill. Bill also loved Sally. Sally created the Fenmore family, in fact. But Kay was already co-hw by the time Joanna was introduced and was struggling with her weight -- around 1977. Bill and Kay would basically write the show themselves. they would 'kinda write a bible but would forget about it. Instead, they would write in a very brief outline for an episode and work on it for half an hour and then he'd write 3 acts and she'd write 2 acts. And then the would combine it and work on the next episode. When Jack Smith (she said he was her first protoge -- not Bill's protoge) came on in 1979 the three of them would divide it up. I mentioned the Joana weight thing as Kay was in charge of that story while Bill did the Peggy rape story. Her account of the Joanna/Katherine lesbian thing is interesting but I'll wait to be asked about that LOLOLOLOL My biggest takeway, and this is for @Khan, Bill WAS asked by CBS for Restless to be an all black soap. But, he felt that, as a white man, he wouldn't have been able to tell a story about two black families honestly enough. He wanted to bring in black people from the start but he was, again, afraid of being dishonest/unauthentic. She also clarified that Bill was 10000% NOT homophobic. But it was the same thing with black characters. That, and he felt that most of the time gay stories on daytime were too sensationalist or too hollow and that the audience wouldn't allow them to go far enough to be truthful.

I know so little about 'Unhappily..." but I know "Married..." better than I know myself. Wasn't the former the "Night Gallery" to "Married...'s" "Twilight Zone"?

Thank you, SFK. I was very sad and surprised when you made that comment. We all get out of line and I definitely did as well.

I needed all three to apologize. @Vee wont. You guys all lost me as a source to the first 15 episodes but also the shows bible with Bill's notes and revisions. And three version of the "Rags" bible. Along with: From Radio Era: -Ma Perkins: Bible plus story outlines. Audition prompts for writers. Agnes Nixon's audition scripts based on the prompts. -Joyce Jordan: MD Bible plus story outlines -Road of Life: daily breakdowns that are written by Irna to Agnes with Irna's critique of Aggie's work. From TV Era ATWT: Bible with first few scripts. Letters from Aggie to Corday. Brainstorming ideas of the show. LIAMST: Bible with story projection that included Irna's full original plan had she not been fired. I find what she had in mind for Mia to be rather innovative. AW: Bible plus first few scripts. Also, Aggie had each weekly and daily outline at her archive from the premier to her departure. I could have transcribed them upon request. AMC: Bible plus character studies. First episode. 1974 projection -- which included a "movie of the week" idea and how she would have killed of Erica had Susan Lucci left. Also, Aggie's "AMC: The Early Years" feature film treatment. Megan Mctavish's long term bible from her 2nd run. This bible stretches all the way to 2002 with her ideas for the 30th anniversary. Megan McTavish's termination letters detailing WHY the decision was made (and her very colorful responses to the executives who wrote them) What I listed was tip of the iceberg but you all lost out due to your cattiness towards me. Frankly, had @SFK not made the 'Lily Montgomery' comment in regards to me having autism I wouldn't have been set off. But, because my autism was insulted, something that needs to end in society -- abelism and autismphobia, I felt I needed to teach certain people a lesson. Also, it wasn't so much that a crass remark about autism was made but the fact that it was used to GASLIGHT me into thinking I was in the wrong also made me angry. Again, I showed those comments in the OLTL thread to others and they all said that you three were ganging up on me. Several pointed out that @Khan was quite the hypocrite as you guys were accusing me of being catty, yet, Khan chose to use a gif that evoked cattiness. You others, such as @DRW50, who take the history seriously, I'm sorry that I have to close off all I have acquired. But again, Abelism has got to stop.

I'll risk uploading these. I'll provide more all the information you all desire, I'm sure @slick jones is eager to record the cast data. I'll only did so if I get an apology from @SFK@kahn @Vee @KhanDue to the bs from the oltl thread. I showed the messages to 10 different people and all thought I was ganged up on. I also didn't like the offensive remark regarding autism. I have a great deal of other sources of gladly share such as the bible to LIAMST and the first few scripts of ATWT amongst other documents. I even have the bible to Ma Perkins. 12 hours for the apology.

I will soon. These scripts were that final version before Bill sent them to CBS. He'd write in Radio format and then they'd reformat in what was called the "Transcription Unit" of CBS. So, they have notes in his hand writing and last minute line revisions. It's fun to study as you can understand his mindset. Bc I got these are UCLA I'm hesitant on what I can share/upload. The Snapper/Sally thing is great. Chris wouldn't screw with him on, if I recall, episode as they we're getting close on a romantic his side. She wanted to but ran off. She confided in Leslie on her hatred for her upbringing. That scene made me cry. Almost every episode has deep moments that make me cry and I haven't cried over a work of written fiction in prolly 7 years. Snapper then went to Sally to screw her as he was still horny from Chris. Bill Bell went deep into Brad's training at the newspaper.

ARTICLE: ‘Days of our Lives’ Head Writer Posts Query: “Tell me your job so I can tweet at you how you’re doing it wrong”
Thank you. Sorry for getting onto the way you formatting. I had been in an terrible state of mind lately (eviction possibility and other stuff). Is your username alluding to Grand Theft Auto? Ron's blow up is clearly due to burnout. And we are 6 months behind the current writing. If he is burned out now that means the show is just going to get worse than it is.

The Soaps That Never Were
More like that, I assume. It had NO similarites with Are You Being Served. It had a more 'fish out of water' feel and a love story between a new arrival and the head of the store.

The Soaps That Never Were
I acquired soap bibles from Bill Bell's archive. One was called, "The Many Ways of Love" that was written in the 60s for ABC. It was set in a department store as, according to the author (John Heiss), a high end department store is basically a mini city. Also, the hierarchy of a department story reflects an actual social hierarchy. But, the overall theme was within the title. We all want love but love comes in many forms (something like that). He had another bible called "Laura" from 1964. He didn't write it but he was considering to be the HW. It was based in the fashion industry.

ALL: Favorite Soap Special Episodes, Standalones, and Stunts
I have several of McTavish's outlines (all of her 2nd run on AMC).and actually did a good job at explaining how her ideas tied into the theme of the show.
