  1. We did see a hint of that during Val's 'poor Jill' rant after Jill spoke to the twins and asked them not to tell her. And let's not forget the whole reason for Val's breakdown was thinking she lost her 2nd chance at being a mom after having Lucy taken from her. And add to that no one believing her that she heard the twins cry..and you just knew she would crack. She could survive losing Gary both times since she managed to pull herself up by the boot straps and made a life for herself...but losing her 2nd chance at motherhood (not from the babies dying, but being stolen)..out of the question. In fact, season 8 Jean Hackney story would have been a bit better had she threatened to harm or take the twins due to Ben not adhering to her orders to kill Greg. So Val would resent Ben..Ben would do anything to protect Val/twins..and Laura/Val's friendship would be affected. And perhaps I would have killed Ben...who died to protect Val/twins. And it would be an organic obstacle for Val/Gary since she would always put Ben on a higher pedestal then Gary going forward...and feel guilt for resenting Ben.
  2. I love honest talk about how things really were backstage. And I do think Rose and Karen were both correct in their assessment of Ellen Barrett..because bosses do have favorites and people they bully.
  3. I think it started in season 6 with Val's nervous breakdown after losing the twins. I don't view it as character assassination..but of untreated mental illness and enabling of said behavior (by Karen and co).
  4. Just goes to show that even the best of laid out plans can not work out because of factors out of your control. Elimination period is such a morbid and horrible term...imho
  5. I know there are great people that live in NYC, I just wish they were selected to be on Housewives instead of what they keep picking LOL Although I do faintly remember Jenna and she seemed cool. I think the housewives franchise might need to go back to basics and select women that have actual lives going on outside of the group. In the early version of the franchise (OC, in particular).. there were more individual narratives with some over-lap of group interactions. Perhaps maybe go back to reality and not 'heightened reality'.
  6. The new NY trailer....other then diversity of race, it's still filled with vapid and shallow women. Maybe that's just NYC...all looks and no substance. And if they're still airing season 4 of UGT after what Brandi allegedly did...then season 5 will be aired irregardless of what goes on. And let's not forget all the classist things Gizelle said and did on season 3 of UGT (plus attempt to ruin men's reps with lies)...and she's still allowed to stay in the housewife fold. Which is why maybe it's time for reality shows to exit stage left.
  7. Plus, Ms Zeman was in a front burner coupling with Rick Springfield on GH so that could be another reason why she would get a mention when she passed. As others have said... Susan Lucci, Diedre Hall, Anthony Geary, Genie Francis, and probably Eric Braedon will get mention if any of them pass away. It's all because all of them were known outside the soap world.
  8. Most of the songs in the top 10 on Billboard are not actually traditional songs.. they seem more like songs that would thrive on TikTok. However, most people still want songs that have structure, lyrics and a bit of depth. Miley's song was #1 for awhile and it was the only song for awhile in the top 10 that actually sounded like a song.
  9. Since it seems like the NY legacy is season 5 of UGT...maybe an legacy OC or Atlanta could be another future season idea.
  10. I understand why Kristen was cast because you need a normal person to balance out the crazy of the others....and Tinsley must truly be done since I heard she was rumored to be on this. And I agree about Teresa on Jersey especially if you recall how she was in season 1. She was the fun and ditzy housewife with her shopping trips to the boutiques with her princesses..and her friendship with Dina (who also said she was not prepared for how toxic it got in season 1 during filming). If you recall how low key and sweet Teresa was on UGT... she looked like she wanted to make friends (and she was even nice to Ramona...and they had a nice bonding scene as well).
  11. Sharon on Y & R had that where she was living at a ranch/farm.. and had darker hair.
  12. I would have looked at David Jacob's playbook on how to make a spinoff (Dallas was about oil and a rancher family in Texas while Knots Landing was about several upper middle class people in suburban California). and made the spin off somewhat different from Dynasty. Instead of setting it in Calfornia.. I would have chosen a setting less used like the south. A southern gothic prime time soap where you would encounter lots of corruption and a wealth that differed from the wealth of Denver. Maybe set it in New Orleans. If were to have spun off a character, I probably would have spun off Dominique or Fallon (played by Pamela Sue Martin) to be the lead.
  13. Donna Mills looks like herself...but still has lines and moves her face. @KhanI think it turned out Mary Robson wasn't Laura's mom..but her aunt. It was revealed in season 14 after she was murdered
  14. Laura, in an indirect way, was the element used to revamp/fix the show in season 13...by bringing up the Meg story..plus having a red headed woman that claimed to be Laura's mom come into the picture. @Khanwhile I agree it's a shame she's no longer acting...I think quitting the business and venturing into a profession that isn't ageist was wise. By doing so, she still looks like herself..she's aged gracefully and is doing something that benefits society (mental health).
  15. I think Glitter was supposed to be like a Hotel or Love Boat....but you have to like the characters that will be there week to week. I did see 2 of the episodes...but I think maybe had the main cast been trimmed in half...the concept might have worked.
  16. I actually liked the 3rd Nicole (Lisa Sloan) better than the 2nd Nicole.. she had a more mature look and seemed to carry herself as though she came from an upper crust family.
  17. Lucy should have been the one to buy the lingerie company.. since she had been a model and had been around the block.. so she would know what men would like and what women would want to buy to feel sexy, etc.
  18. To me the best characters on BB aren't necessarily longest run characters...but made a big impact. 1) Stephanie 2) Sally 1.0 3) Sheila Carter 4) Caroline Spencer 1.0 5) Brooke
  19. Season 2 tried the serial elements for the sake of the elements vs if it made sense for the story or characters. Abby was just a bored maneater that hit on Kenny, slept with Richard (with Val sometimes seeing some of the signals and looking uncomfortable). And you saw that Abby's main goal was Gary..so she set it up where Val saw Gary with Judy to the point where Judy correctly guessed Abby's intentions. Season 3 managed a good blend of serial elements within the self contained episodes. And @KhanI agree that KL succeeded because the show was about characters in Knots landing that knew one another personally and professionally. While FC, Dallas, and Dynasty were tied to one family and industry. With KL's concept, more avenues to explore (Melrose Place had the same type of set up and blew it in season 4 thus shortening its shelf life to 7 seasons).
  20. Bravo is vile...Peacock is a better platform for them.
  21. The bible for Dark Shadows seemed to indicate it would be a cross between Peyton Place and Edge of Night...with a Nancy Drew esque character at the center. People didn't bite sadly...but I do agree Dark Shadows could have lasted had they ventured more into a Gothic mystery show and adjusted to color like Edge of Night did.
  22. On paper it sounded interesting and it did fit with early 90s California and their environmental forward thinking. However, making it a start up company was the kiss of death plotwise. Start ups are long hours, little money, wearing multiple hats, and always trying to get funding/capital. I think it would have worked better if it was a product and/or start up purchased by Sumner so that Paige, Karen, etc could have been integrated more into the story. Only upside of the Tidal Energy story was that Gary lost the ranch..and Val/Gary moved back to Seaview circle...and Karen quit the talk show.
  23. I always thought the change of show-runners kind of hampered Empire Valley because it was first mentioned in season 6 back when Paul Galverston was alive.. and it became the focus of season 7 once a new show-runner came in. Has anyone ever interviewed any of the people in charge in season 6 and 7 to find out what Empire Valley was supposed to have been.. and when it was decided to make it more of a Dynasty type of plot vs a more organic plotline. Still... at least it wasn't as bad as the Tidal Energy company arc in Season 13 LOL
  24. Agree to disagree about Ceara.. and actually was realistically written based on several people I knew that went through the same thing as her character did.
  25. When you looked at how Laura was created, it was a given that she would be a very important viable character for many years to come.. partly due to her being the long lost daughter of Lesley.. a mainstay of GH in the 70s. I think Genie being away so long on maternity leave in the late 90s was the beginning of the lack of respect she was given by those behind the scenes..imho. It's nice that the show is finally correcting the error of making Laura as secondary to Luke... when it reality, Luke was always secondary to Laura.
