  1. A super rich corporate raider doesn’t scream Labine to me either. Jason’s accident could go either way- it is believable as either a story created by Labine or Guza. It has the tragedy and family dynamics and medical aspects of a Labine story, and the Guza dramatic tendency to pit people against each other.
  2. I know they were both in the club when Clink/Boom happened. But again, I don’t have strong memory of Lois and Laura sharing scenes. Certainly nothing more than a crowd scene at the club, etc. I think Laura was spared having to watch a lot of Eddie Maine performances lol. Laura was pretty isolated after her first year back or so. I assume it was due to her post maternity leave shooting schedule which allowed her to be up first and out early.
  3. Deidre Hall is a good actress. She always had a lot of charisma and warmth, and a sense of fun (especially with Wayne’s Roman). I thought she was great all the way through the beginning of the Possession. Things did change for me around then, but I still felt she did the best anyone could with those later Reilly stories (Lady in a Cage, etc). She also got kind of stuffy around then. Marlena was no longer any fun at all. I loved the return of her natural charm and warmth when she was the only one Will was confiding in.
  4. It was a fun time for the Quartermaines! I know Luke and Monica had scenes when he was married to Tracey, and also when Lucky and Emily ran away in the 90’s. Plus on Monty’s GH there was lots of crossover, big party scenes, weddings, etc. Robert solved the mystery of who killed Lila’s first husband and that involved all the Q’s. Monica and Laura had lots of scenes in the 70’s, and several I can remember in the 1990’s. Two great ones when the whole town was shocked to find out Laura and Lesley were alive, and then later on Monica came by to visit with Laura and a still semi-catatonic Lesley. Now Anna and Monica I cannot remember anything of substance. And I know she had scenes with Robin but I can’t remember any of them being important. Maybe about Jason right after his accident. I can’t think of any either. And considering how much Luke and Sonny were connected during Labine’s run, I barely remember Laura and Brenda having scenes either. She didn’t have much to do with Lois either, while sharing plenty of scenes with Katherine and Ned.
  5. They had an affair and conspired to get the Quartermaine fortune. It lead to Lila creating her infamous relish while they lived at Kelly’s.
  6. I agree. He needs a hook, and Jackee is exactly the type of person he would need to work with. Ron is such a jackass.
  7. Steve was a little more than gray when he first arrived, but nothing as ridiculous as this. I even think Ben’s return and rise as a romantic hero is worse than Sonny on GH, and that used to be my all time worst case of this happening. Hooked a barely legal Karen on drugs and slept with her, owned a strip club, was a low level hood for Frank Smith…to the whole show is centered around him. Ben murdered innocent people, even if some of them were annoying to the audience. And of course he is attractive- still doesn’t make me want to root for him!
  8. I liked the Arizona story the best. But polls like that reek of the racism I have seen all over the place when it comes to the Black characters on DAYS. Several pages I follow have called people out and removed them as posters. It just reinforces the online behavior of these people.
  9. Even this boring ass Sonny storyline could be salvaged if they actually went soapy. Sonny is shown being a little distrustful of Carly and Jason when it seems both of them are having difficulties being around each other. Cyrus does some type of mob thing that hurts Michael. Carly and Jason once again feel guilty and question their choices. Sonny finds them in an embrace, they stop talking around him because they don’t want him to know they sometimes question things. Another mob attack leaves them trapped somewhere together. They do not sleep together, but Sonny doesn’t believe that because he is all betrayal mode after the last year, and that always messes Sonny up. This whole time Nina has been skulking around, telling him how sorry she is, trying to make amends, looking at him longingly. And Sonny dreams about being Mike with Nina sometimes. They finally give in to passion, and. Sonny immediately regrets it. Now we have a Fatal Attraction rip off to drive Nina and she can even kill Jax in the process. And Valentin knows she is unhinged, tries to help/cover for some of her lesser crimes, creating conflict with Anna. Let her kill Austin too while we are at it. I think Watros has done very well making nothing into something. But there is a time limit on her character and it’s due. Why not have her go out with some actual drama?
  10. Who has this kind of time on their hands? Jesus.
  11. Chase is too nice to Willow and Michael. We had to sit through Lucky spewing awful things to Liz after the affair with Nikolas, and these two just get off and get to live happily ever after? Nope. Bring on the drama! Stop being afraid of being a soap!
  12. I know the story with Carly/AJ’s baby was one of the things Guza didn’t have planned and also thought was a great idea to build upon. It also helped him set up Tony for the downward spiral.
  13. There is a comment in the thread that she liked that also said Carly’s name was Drew in Guza’s original document. Now I wonder if he created Jax as well…
  14. We were just talking about this!
  15. Very interesting! I wish more of this stuff would come out!
  16. As much as I hated Phelps and Guza’s GH- at least it was well written. I may not have liked the stories or the characters they choose most often to focus on, but the daily writing and events were so much stronger, the drama had stakes and it was emotional. Way too dark, way too many characters killed off with potential, overly indulgent to MB, SB and to lesser extent, TG. But it was well written darkness. It’s just pathetic at this stage watching the show. They did the same thing with Ryan’s return last year- they missed the climax and the story has just kept limping along with him still there. Peter should be gone- I get him being alive to not taint Liz and Finn. But then Anna should have killed him. Roger should have been killed off as Franco and been done. Austin will never work for me because it’s Roger, again. And it’s not working for those crazed Roger fans because they want Franco (vomit) back with Liz. And this storyline with Sonny is a huge bust.
  17. Ron C on DAYS rushes past all the suspense to get to the climaxes and twists, and the GH writers play all the beats and then can’t stick the landing, so all their suspense and building falls flat. I wish anyone in these shows could still get it right- the build when done properly and then an actual climax drives up ratings you fools! It has on every soap I ever watched!
  18. We should have had the film stuff bringing it up again while Doug was having his medical issues for at least a couple of weeks before everything converged. Marlena should have had conversations with the twins about what happened to her, not just John. If anything, that would make more organic sense as to why now- she started opening that door in her mind again. It could still have been faster than Reilly, but not it all happened in two episodes fast.
  19. I have to give Ron credit- I have been expecting him to revisit this storyline. But the way it has begun, focusing on Doug was really a surprise. A great one. I love that they appear to still be working regularly, so that means they are still an important part of the story.
  20. I actually thought Sonny’s reaction was true to him. I can’t wait to see what complications arise from all this. Especially with Nina. Watros has done the unimaginable- she made Nina interesting without going full Annie. I still hope we get that down the road though…
  21. Even with there is a change, he rushes to put it all back together almost like it was! Roger Howarth as Austin. Peter alive. Drew back (although this Drew is working for me). Victor back. I wish the ratings were higher because I do think the show is better than it has been…but I also see why people are tuning out.
  22. The extreme dragging out of the Jax/Nina stuff and Carly/Jason’s wedding reminds me of old school soap plotting, but not as interesting. They are trying to do soap again, but it still lacks something. As ridiculous as James Reilly could be, he at least knew how to make an endless day interesting.
  23. Thank you! Just mentioning her name and I remembered how labored that relationship was all because of Tyler. And her crazy backstory with the sister who was killing patients at GH. That was her, correct?
  24. I just remember laughing when Sonny/Carly slept together and Burton had to play like it was a betrayal. Now you care? He publicly stated Carly was not the kind of woman Jason would fall in love with and he hoped Kimberly would keep coming back and keep that relationship viable. Then he lured her back and she told Guza she didn’t want to do Jason/Robin again. Until Liz and then later Sam, I felt he tanked every relationship. Tyler Christopher did it too with the attempted relationship after Emily died, I think she was a nurse but my memory is hazy on her name. It’s pretty clear that Frank/someone or both are shuffling the decks and once again propping pets. Austin is on too much and has a very nothing character, whatever Alexis was going to be doing got wrapped up way too quick and she’s clearly in a holding pattern, and Peter is back for what appears to be not the short term.
  25. I agree. She was really great in her return, finding Roman, the affair and dealing with Sami. The show was incredibly campy for a few years there though, I can’t blame her too much. One of the reasons I loved her scenes with CM early in the Will coming out story is that she was more grounded and there were layers there.
