  1. They are using so many classic and great soapy story elements. And yet it is all lifeless and severely lacking energy or even the basic attempt at going for drama- either subtle or over the top. They are not going for it at all.
  2. His comments are awful. What Trans person would want to be only valued if they are attractive and have that be a criteria used to explain how not bigoted you are. And then the comments about his son. Just awful.
  3. Well, GH is certainly going to get more media attention than they have since the 50th. This week at least. And I think it is really nice that several cast members have called Ingo out over his anti-Trans comments. Bye Jax. Now who else? And this is just a precursor to January.
  4. I was relieved to see we shared no common follows when I looked at those likes. I’m truly disgusted. He has a Trans coworker (you know, if he isn’t fired), who just went on his buddy Maurice’s YouTube show. Talk about one person making a workplace intolerable. At least we know exactly how he feels, no hiding his bigotry and ignorance like some of his like minded costars. Gross, and hopefully goodbye Jax.
  5. I don’t think any character currently airing on one of these last soaps has been as mangled as Sharon. Talk about a character that is unrecognizable and nobody in power seems to get at all.
  6. Because she is the most vocal cast member about vaccines, and the most vocal about her politics which are very much not the shared beliefs of many of her costars. She already gets a lot of heat for this in general. If someone as big as SB is removed from the show for refusing to vaccinate, I see a lot of ire being directed at her. These people are not rational in general. This is an even hotter button.
  7. People are going to go ape-$hit on NLG
  8. He also liked this comment in the post where he dedicated the song to them and MB.
  9. Even Kay Alden had her own style, which was in the Bell mold but she told stories solo differently than she did while writing with Bell.
  10. Could be connected, maybe it isn’t. I think he had to encounter issues with his travels, so I am inclined to believe he is vaccinated and this will not be him. Venue and travel requirements have been pointed out already. But also- anything could happen and I would not be surprised if he has not been vaccinated. He is conservative and also used to operate like he was a bigger star than he was. Frank humbled him before.
  11. I see no point without Budig in the role. She is entertaining in roles where she gets to walk the line closer to being a bitch, Cam has been better than expected as Drew, and she has the right chemistry with all the players- including Liz. Just a waste of a re-write and all this nonsense if it’s not her.
  12. It’s kind of like GH in 1980-1981- it was the right show with the right characters and the right creative team to make it into the action-adventure show it would ultimately become for most of the 1980’s. I think Reilly was the right person at the right time with the right characters to do what he did with DAYS. It worked with Carly and Vivian, and then really took off when he focused on Marlena. He had so many classic characters back to work with his newer ones and integrated them beautifully. And I am not a fan of the show must past the Posession, but I can’t deny what they accomplished.
  13. Fixed lol Maybe in 1995-2000. But nah after.
  14. I think the reintroduction of something so iconic as the Cassadines on GH was mostly a successful risk. The Ice Princess was a campy, goofy story that did not fit the tone of GH at all anymore. The camp was drained away, it gave Laura her best storyline in years, it set the foundation to break them up that the show clearly wanted to do (maybe not all the way, but clearly strained), introduced Nikolas and eventually Alexis, Nichols was superb as Stefan, and Towers a delight as Helena. Alexis and Nikolas have continued to be a major players since arrival (even if not all of their stories were good ones).
  15. By that rational- so did Maureen’s death. Parker even won for her work in that story. The acting was award worthy. I just hate that Laura never really got to have her moment like Luke and Lucky did- they got several, and she had one confrontation with Luke, and one with Lucky that was just awful. The rest of the time she moped around trying to get her family back together.
  16. I think this has been such a strange hill to literally die on. If you have a legitimate, medical reason to not get vaccinated- I get it. I know people that are incredibly compromised and once Miss Delta came in their doctors told them the risk was higher to not get the shot due to how bad it is where we are. There are always legit concerns about medical issues- but this is also a public health crisis. Anyway I’m in here ranting to the like minded so…
  17. Is it wrong that I can’t wait to see who is revealed to be out due to this? I’m more interested in this than I am the show. I usually hate to see people lose their jobs, but if Ingo is out I’m not mad about it. If Burton is out- well that is an entirely different can of worms for ABC and GH. It’s going to explode.
  18. Y&R- making Katherine and Jill related upended not only the core of their relationship and history, it also upended recent history with Mac and Billy. Just because a couple of recasts were not working. I also think killing Cassie was a risk, because it was to make Nick and Sharon seem younger and shake them up. It was a huge failure in my eyes, even if it did lead to a popular (with some) pairing with Phyllis. GL- Maureen’s death. I kind of agree with JFP- the way they did it made it unbearable. The affair, her raw emotions, and then the accident when everything was still in turmoil. That is a risky way to send off a beloved character, and I think the way they told the story, while exceptional in a lot of ways, perhaps left the audience too upset with the how. GH- revisiting Luke’s rape of Laura. I do think it was a good idea, and it had many wonderful and powerful moments. But the risk did not pay off because it was just another deconstruction by Guza without a plan to rebuild. The fact that they divorced was such a slap in the face to the most important couple and wedding in the show’s history. Warts and all, it shouldn’t have ended up the way it did. And all that doesn’t even mention how awful Laura’s writing was- it was almost all about Luke and Lucky.
  19. Todd is almost hard to swallow now, but back then I went along with it. They did do a good job of having opposing characters that didn’t let Todd forget his past and bad acts, like Roger on GL. I think they had gone too far with Michael before 2003. I agree though that all three suffered as time went on. Even as Mario and later Marco he did do some light scheming. But nothing as bad as his earlier period on the show. When he was on GH later I recall he schemed a little with Tracy too. But nothing like pimping Katrina/Karen.
  20. Erica too. And Brenda on GH maybe isn’t the vixen she was when she first arrived, but she still had an edge that say Liz no longer had. It’s laughably bad. I don’t care how hot he is, the lengths of redeeming him are ridiculous.
  21. Lots of soaps, especially in the last few decades have at least one (if not several) characters who used to be bad and are now reformed. Sometimes it works, sometimes it’s a mess. And there are rare examples of it not happening with long term characters too! One that worked for me- Sean Donnelly on GH. He worked wonderfully as an adversary at first, but he really fit in with the late 1980’s GH group of characters and Tiffany pretty well too. The hero core with Robert, Anna, Frisco and Felicia. One that didn’t- Michael Baldwin on Y&R. He was awful in his original run, then shady and underhanded when he returned. To now be as bland and generic as he became once his family came to town and he married Lauren- just never worked for me. Him being friends with Cricket has never sat right with me either. Never reformed- Dorian Lord OLTL and Roger Thorpe GL. With Dorian, I know that Strasser kept that edge there because she felt Dorian was wicked at her core. And I never felt like Dorian wasn’t still her selfish self no matter what. Roger was certainly more shades of grey than as villainous as he had been. But he was never reformed, he was still an angry outsider fighting for what he thought should be his.
  22. Yeah, I don’t think anybody had any idea. She seemed competent as a kid, they gave her stuff to do, but this really had complex layers to deal with. They hired and acting coach to help her and Michael Sutton. He was pretty green at first too, but by the last year they were just both really strong performers I felt. GH was my show as a kid/teen, and while it was always enjoyable and fun and adventurous it did not dig deep very often in my viewing. Riche really changed all that, and then Labine just went there. People really had the chance to act out a lot of human emotion and almost all the actors really rose to the occasion.
