  1. Though I find the show annoying a lot of the time, I'm glad to see it sticking around. We finally got a new soap! We need to build back the genre. Keeping B&B helps that momentum.
  2. I agree Donald May should have been Alex and Kin Shriner should have been Ryan. Throw him into the mix from the start. Ryan and Ginny could have still have been paired. Having three top leads, Beverlee, Donald, and Kin, in story together could have pulled in more interest.
  3. I found this part to be hilarious. On the surface it sounds mean, but those that have worked with Beverlee have said she had a wicked sense of humor. I'm sure this was done tongue-in-cheek while still getting a point across. I, too, wish there had been more focus on backstage drama going on. There definitely seemed to be enough of it. As someone else said, Texas seems to be a blueprint for how not to launch a soap. Starting a new show already in progress (with its stories starting on AW) had to have been a turnoff for non-AW fans tuning for a chance to watch a new show at the beginning. (Think BTG recently.) It seems the show was doomed from the start. My biggest memory of Texas was the Hitopah storyline and Brette being in the cave to get the Fire Compass only to have legions of snakes fall on her while retrieving it. I was 9. It terrified me, but I loved the Indiana Jones type of story. I was surprised to realize the head writer, Rader, had been hired to write the show because of a random book Kobe plucked out of an airport bookstore. I know some people love Kobe, but she didn't come across to me like someone who knew what she was doing. Randomly hiring completely unexperienced writers for the show (Rader, then Long) doesn't seem wise. Although, I guess Long turned out okay. Kobe also seemed petty with actors. Not utilizing someone like Kin Shriner because she felt he wasn't behind her or the show seemed stupid. Wasn't there a comment she was afraid to focus on Courtney/Jeb because if they became popular it would just be a bigger loss when they left? Umm...you're at the bottom of the ratings. Is it worse to have attention on a couple for a month than not at all. The show needed attention! And who is to say Kin Shriner wouldn't have stayed if he felt utilized and had story? He admitted he loved living in New York. Didn't Phillip Clark also get ignored once it was known he was going to exit at the end of his contract? He was moved offscreen. Ryan and Ginny were arguably the most popular couple on the show and you just sideline Ryan instead of using him while you can? I also noticed Harley Kozak make the comment that she had nothing juicy to tell about anything behind the scenes of Texas because they all genuinely liked each other, but if she had been asked about Guiding Light.... PLEASE, someone ask her about GL! I loved the new direction Texas was going in the last year. Probably because Ruby became my favorite character and I loved the Mark/Ruby/Rikki/Brette quad. And, of course, I loved the Reena/Justin/Ashley triangle. If only they could have been given more time...(without being moved to 11 am.. Yes, the share went up, but viewership went down.)
  4. I like him a lot. I hope Y&R doesn't waste him like they have other talent. (Sally, Audra). Please do him justice.
  5. I'd rather watch her as Taylor on B&B than the miscast we have now. She could be fire against Brooke and better chemistry with Ridge.
  6. I do wish BTG's numbers were higher. However, Y&R and B&B up over last year must be making CBS happy. This is good for BTG. The numbers wouldn't be up if The Talk was still airing. I'm curious what percentage of BTG's audience doesn't watch live. I feel the audience spreads out to a wider base that isn't "traditional". This may be another plus for BTG. BTG has been really great quality, IMO. I see this show as a successful launch. Soaps don't have the cache like they used to. There aren't going to be blowout numbers. Live numbers are solely less important than they were years ago. Hopefully, BTG is streaming well.
  7. Houses can be sold just as easily as parts can be recast.
  8. Surprised and disappointed. Liked him as Ted. Plus, he seemed to really be engaged with fans supporting the show. I hope it was his choice for some reason and not dictated by the show. There are a few others that should have been replaced before him.
  9. 45 years ago! Wow. An event that changed primetime television forever.
  10. Thank you for sharing. I love seeing the way things are done to prepare a show.
  11. I really liked the two new stories this week of Naomi suing her father's firm and the mess Jacob is going to be pulled in with his (probably dirty) partner with Joey. Both have potential. A little disappointed there wasn't a cliffhanger on Weds knowing it wouldn't be back on till Monday. Was hoping for something big like the gun at the wedding.
  12. Naomi and Andre. haha. It would be fun if she addressed that she stayed a virgin because she found their behaviors gross.
  13. Was thinking the same thing. He and Derrick are snooze on this show compared to the others. The character of Martin is intriguing but the actor needs work. I like the secondary characters getting some fleshing out but this week has been a bit slow for me. Hope the pacing picks up a bit more next week.
  14. Carter randomly turning the company back over is such a yawn. They should have played that story for months with Steffy and Zende trying to make Carter look bad only for Carter to outsmart them. Give some kind of build up before Carter crashes...not just hand the company back over. I remember when everyone called this "the Brooke Show" or "the Liam Show". Ya know, I'd watch those any day instead of "the Luna Show". So nauseating. I couldn't care less about this character...or Finn...or Poppy. Taylor being all hypercritical of Luna was a joke. Wasn't Taylor responsible for Darla's death? Shooting Bill in the back? She ain't no saint! Quiet "Taylor"...or whomever you are.
  15. So glad BTG sustained itself into week 2!! I hope it's a good sign of things to come. Let's bring back Friday cliffhangers!! Miss them.
  16. Thank you for sharing and tagging! I love archival soap stuff. Always fun to discover.
  17. That theme brings me back to my childhood. Always loved it!
  18. I'm excited for Billy to join Y&R. I think he's very talented and would be more interesting to watch than others on that show for sure. I think he'd be too old to play Noah. What about Dylan? Nikki should have her son back and maybe have him be a rival for Adam. I think he and Courtney Hope could be a fun pairing. As far as Y&R and interesting new characters...I have enjoyed Holden and Damian so far. I'm more interested in watching them than more Sally/Billy, Chelsea/Adam, Jack and Diane talking about interior decorating, or Harrison's school projects!
  19. I'm excited for this! I always liked him on Days but I don't watch on Peacock. It'll be great to see him on air again. I wonder who he'll be paired with. Sally could be fun if he's a playboy type.
  20. Yes, I know it's a thing, but with all the problems GH has right now I think it's ridiculous that this is what they're focusing on. "Stunts" like this have never done anything for a show ratings wise.
  21. Maybe it's not a "legit" casino in public, but a hidden one in a warehouse where a good bootlegging mobster like Joey would have one. 🤣
  22. Is this supposed to get viewers? Some random character that pops in and out in a day. 🙉
  23. Instead of the Melrose Minutes and 'extras' they should just do 2 podcasts a week. The recaps on Mondays and an interview with production/cast/writers, etc on Friday. Then the recaps can keep moving along. I wonder how many people are watching/listening.
  24. I've ordered mine, too. Can't wait to read it! Texas was the first soap I completely fell in love with. I was only 7-9 years old when it was on. It will be fun to go back and relive a little bit of it.
  25. Jamie Luner made S6 and 7 for me, although it was mostly S7 that Lexi became fire. I thought Lexi and Michael were fun.
