  1. As I lost yet another channel, I reuploaded this - call it Christmas in July: (the other 5 parts are on my channel) A Meg Ryan fan had the last part of this which for some reason I'd never downloaded:
  2. They weren't much of a factor even with Curlee... Anyway, Beth Chamberlin around the time she rejoined GL.
  3. The Turkey situation makes me very nervous, especially as they are trying to say the US has a role in the coup (I tend to believe those who think Erdogan may have staged it all), and they are so intertwined with efforts against ISIS. If only anyone in power in recent years had realized the devastating consequences of playing silly macho games and colonialism delusions with the Middle East.
  4. I thought the episodes were a good example of what Corrie can be and what it often is. Some parts just weren't good (most of the first episode, the awful acting from everyone in the kebab place, the "noooo!!!" from David, the ambulance getting there just as she died, and the whole cliche nature of the "it was just another day" and "life can be taken away and it's unfair" type dialogue from Maria and Leanne), while others were the most raw and honest I can remember for a soap death in some years. Kylie telling David that it was better she died and he lived, because she'd been a bad mother, and then that agonizing scene where Gail told David to make sure he told the kids in the right way because she didn't with Nick and it caused him all kinds of damage - superb. Certainly one of Gail's best scenes in a very long time. Soaps can present death and its effect on a family in a way that no other TV genre can, when it makes the effort. I hope the best of this episode is what we will see from now on.
  5. Garland also released a single during her time on AMC.
  6. That and the e-mails are the only thing they have, so I'm not surprised. On the business side, venture capitalist Peter Thiel, Where's Hulk? In their place are the party officials obligated to be at the Quicken Loans Arena You have to laugh. I see that Trump is picking a hardcore anti-gay anti-woman bigot as his VP - it's frightening to think this type of person is so close to being President.
  7. I actually liked pretty much every scene in this episode, which is always rare, as I'm a bitter person. I still don't like the Tracy/David story much, but the B&B group involvement made it feel less forced and the dialogue and development between the two of them was better than usual (Owen Lloyd-Fox is one of the show's better writers for me). I'm still enjoying the Charity/Belle scenes and I wish I could will the idea of Charity becoming all about Cain again out of the universe. And they even referenced that bizarre story of Charity being pregnant with Moses in jail. The Holly drug story is what still keeps my main interest, and I'm glad we're getting more Barton family implosion to come as Moira is now lying to Adam. Adam and Victoria were a couple who grew on me even as they barely had scenes together for many months on end, so getting to see a good deal of them lately has been a nice surprise. Natalie Robb and Jeff Hordley must be one of the most underrated acting pairs in soapland, or on television. That one brief scene before Cain left to see Debbie had so many layers that wouldn't have been on the page.
  8. It was just awful. The worst part was the cheap Dallas ripoff with Kathy and Gavin's sister with similar hair and outfits so we'd think Kathy might die...which absolutely no one did. Kathy is written as an 18-year old. They seem to have no idea who she is or what her history is.
  9. This one seems to be original airdate, not Soapnet.
  10. Mike Parr interview about his clothes and hair. NBA, he's single, so this is your chance... http://www.express.co.uk/life-style/style/687175/Emmerdale-star-Michael-Parr-fashion-secrets
  11. I don't know anything about the story, but I would assume no.
  12. The pointlessly visible nipple through Steve's otherwise intact tank top cracks me up.
  13. It started off with what I would have expected, but as it continued I was quite impressed. Could Kate Oates be responsible? It would certainly be more in tune with her work that Blackburn's. It's so strange that Sean O'Connor will be credited before her. He's very brave for choosing to put his name on work that isn't truly his. I wonder if the producers have much choice in when they're first credited. Blackburn had some passion with Todd and Marcus (they were pretty hot together, in spite of Todd's awful haircut), although there were more cutaways, so maybe this was Kate Oates. I know some people wish Billy and Todd had just stayed friends. A part of me wishes that too, but I do think they have chemistry and I think if done the right way, a story of two morally complex men pushing and pulling each other would be great drama. And Todd and Billy are both classic Corrie characters (Billy is a lot like '60s Corrie men), which the show also needs more of. Hopefully it will work out for the show. Here's Todd's big kiss with Karl, 12 years ago. Needless to say it's of the times (actually it's a bit more than the other soaps were doing in 2004):
  14. Daniel Brocklebank and Bruno Langley really went for those kisses. Reminded me of Rupert Graves and James Wilby in Maurice. Those kisses are burned into my brain, so seeing something so similar to them on Corrie was...um...unexpected.
  15. Michael Praed joining the show. http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/emmerdale/news/a800644/robin-of-sherwood-star-michael-praed-to-join-emmerdale/
  16. If any of you are waiting to see the prince of Moldavia again - he's moving to the Dales. http://www.digitalspy.com/soaps/emmerdale/news/a800644/robin-of-sherwood-star-michael-praed-to-join-emmerdale/
  17. Regarding Liz Hubbard - given the people who were winning Emmies in this era, like Kim ZImmer (who was wonderful but also very OTT as Reva even in the '80s) or Erika Slezak (ditto), I think Hubbard deserved one. If not for the '80s work, then her work during the takeover story in 1991, which actually was, from what I remember, surprisingly restrained.
  18. Hated this story:
  19. Thanks. She has those Cramer genes - she still looks a lot like Robin Strasser, and like the Melindas. Did you put it in the WETN thread?
  20. This sounds like such a depressing story. How did fans feel about it? Did the actor want to leave?
