HBO: Game of Thrones
I like Finn Jones well enough, I can understand that it sucks to have your show panned and face a lot of personal backlash, and I certainly agree that critics have no particular merit these days (especially those who suddenly claim to object to a white savior narrative that is stamped all over their other Marvel favorites), but someone in PR really needs to ask him to just please stop talking. http://www.avclub.com/article/finn-jones-says-critics-just-dont-get-iron-fist-251964

The Augusta/Dash story makes me sick, as does nearly anything with Tim Gibbs. What offensive trash. Marcy Walker, A Martinez and Judith McConnell did some tremendous work in that split personality story, especially Marcy. Even from that one short clip you quickly see just how miscast Eileen Davidson was IMO. Of course to be fair to her the dialogue and situation are embarrassingly trite.

Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
No, Georgia was never mentioned as coming back. I like Faith but sometimes they overdo it, as they do with a lot of comedy. Debbie hasn't appeared anywhere near as much as I thought she would since her return.

Do you have the links? I guess I should check Astheworldstillturns more often if they're on there. I thought I'd seen all their 83/84 stuff.

Is a lot of it around? I've only seen one or two episodes. Doesn't she accuse him of rape at some point?- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I can't imagine her working out as she wasn't a big ratings grabber like he was at that point, but I'm sorry we never got to find out. Her work at GL, especially before 1993, was extremely intelligent and adult soap opera, in a genre that often sees adult as flashes of a bra being undone from the back as men with glistening chests staring into space.- The Politics Thread
An interesting article comparing "fake news" of 1942 (mostly involving racist and white supremacist paranoia) to today. http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2017/03/lessons-from-the-fake-news-pandemic-of-1942-214898- EastEnders: Discussion Thread

Such a sad article, even as it mostly just lays out facts, about the currently-being-impeached South Korean president. A good example of how vulnerable grief can make a person. http://graphics.straitstimes.com/STI/STIMEDIA/Interactives/2017/03/south-korea-scandal/park-geun-hye.html- Emmerdale: Discussion Thread
The acting mostly keeps the Rhona/Pierce story going for me, although that won't be enough once Paddy swoops in to save the day (zzzzzz.......). I wonder if he's going to kill Vanessa or if they will avoid the same path they took with Katie and Gennie. I couldn't watch the episode with Aaron in prison, although I'm impressed they were willing to go as far as they did, especially pre-watershed. I've heard people who are objective (eg, don't watch with loathing of Aaron and Danny Miller) say it was well done, although some Aaron fans see it as torture porn and too much and trivializing abuse. I tend to wonder where they were over the years, especially the very tackily done sexual abuse story last year, but I think they are now uncomfortable because stories that were always about awards bait are now even more blatantly about awards bait. I imagine they also get upset because this story, unlike the abuse one, isn't about Robron making kissy kissy and Robert being a hero.- Another World Discussion Thread
That's really neat. It's kind of funny to see those caricatures as most of them were fired very quickly weren't they?- Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
Why do you think it didn't work out with Caroline? Was it just some punishment of the Dobsons as they brought her in? Oh I'd forgotten about that they (Anne Howard Bailey or whoever) wanted an attractive nun for Mason to be paired with and then during the strike they cast the deaf actress instead.- Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
Oh so they had the idea for Michael? I know they were gone by the time he appeared. I haven't seen much of Caroline but it's a shame that didn't work out. I loved her on GL.- Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
How many different pairings did Michael go through anyway? Given that they seemed to have no idea what to do with him I was surprised he was around as long as he was.- Edge of Night (EON) (No spoilers please)

The worst part about all these US Attorneys being pushed out is there is likely no one to replace them. Many jobs haven't been filled and I'm not sure they will be filled anytime soon. They aren't even going because of ideology as much as because Trump is looking for people to blame for leaks, and Faux News along with other interlopers didn't take much effort to convince him their target was to blame. Once all Obama's people are gone, someone else will get the blame, then someone else, then someone else. That's what should frighten the Republicans who use him for their agenda, because at some point, sooner rather than later, they will be the ones in his crosshairs.- Y&R: Old Articles
It's a lot like what modern soaps tried and failed to do with new music...it holds up much better than a lot of background music of that era, which tries too hard. They never should have gotten rid of it. I never do remember when Matt left. Maybe this was setting up Nikki's "dying" story?- Y&R: Old Articles
