  1. Yes. Awful campery and cartoonishness, which the role shouldn't have been. The show did a good job building up the Loves throughout the mid-80s and then it was all dismantled. Philece...also campery. I used to laugh and laugh at the scenes where she harangued "Mother Hudson" into keeling over.
  2. After Reginald caused Donna to miscarry, Michael and Reginald fought on a roof or something. Reginald fell and died. I think they may have left a door open about his returning (I can't remember). His first wife he'd killed before she could run off with Jason Frame. She was played by Anne Howard (Nicole). I think the Reginald story was a bad idea from start to finish, and I think the role was miscast.
  3. I think at the very least they will let him hang on until they gut Obamacare and the social safety net.
  4. Diane's last days is good.
  5. I don't really mind Jimmy Fallon (I don't watch his show but I didn't before the Trump interview either - I just have a limited tolerance for man-children), but that whole thing reeks of damage control and makes me cast a wary eye yet again at ever-corporate NYT. If, as they repeatedly (repeatedly...) said, nothing has really changed that much and things will go back to normal with Fallon on top (and I think they're probably right), then why all the tortured justifications? Lorne Michaels defensively saying that Fallon = Carson doesn't work, because Carson had a very sharp edge. Yes, his comedy was middle-brow, but his delivery wasn't. Fallon just seems like he needs a nap. And I never thought Leno was in the middle of political comedy. Whenever I watched his monologues it was Clinton-bashing night after night, week after week, year after year. And I never even liked Clinton, but it still stuck out. The staged photos also made me laugh, especially the one of him walking to work. And this: “No one would have thought, even two years ago, that we’d be in a climate where the Republican candidate for president would be too divisive a figure to have on ‘The Tonight Show,’” she continued. “But here we are. Did the show figure that out a beat later than the rest of the world? Maybe. But I don’t think the blame lies with ‘The Tonight Show.’ The blame lies with the hateful rhetoric of the candidate.” This is BS. Trump had said heinous statements a year before that interview. And he just kept on saying them. All the late night shows coddled him, and most of them now admit it. Tina Fey should not handwave this.
  6. I love the shot of Sheryl and Grace. Dana has aged, of course, yet sometimes he looks so much like Bobby. It's strange. You've probably already read this, but: https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2017/06/how-twin-peaks-invented-modern-television/524493/
  7. I remember her popping up in a 1985 episode as well. Lee Bryant is probably best known for her role in Airplane. I remember one of the fill-in episodes had her standing in front of a crowd at the Mona Lisa after the commercial break, with them cheering and applauding. Knowing how some fans felt about Sward's singing, I wondered if they wished she got the same treatment...
  8. I just read that. Ugh. Disgusted that they criticized the movie for not treating Laura's experiences as more "fun" and for trying to act like Lynch was just being trendy. And of course the obligatory Sopranos reference, because it always has to go back to that overrated pap. EW is such a smarmy self-parody. And calling Laura and Teresa "log ladies" and going TIMBER! at the end? Embarrassing.
  9. I rolled my eyes a bit but it's hard to really react because there's no chance of impeachment anytime soon. I have to admit I did wonder if he would say the same if there was talk of a President Hillary impeachment...
  10. I actually thought Lecy looked about the same, aside from the unfortunate Spike-of-BTVS-fame haircut. How telling that the entirety of it was from the show's early years (although I think you could have gotten stuff in from up to about season 5 - 6 at a push). I can't really see Roseanne making that type of show again though.
  11. I don't really believe anything that man writes. If it is true, then it makes me laugh, as many thought that Daniel would return as gay or bisexual and cause problems for Billy and Todd. Instead, he's 100% straight, and in a boring pairing with one of the most irritating women on the show.
  12. As long as Republicans in Congress continue to turn a blind eye, we can. Or they can. I'm frightened of what will become of the rest of us.
  13. Thank you for these links - I had forgotten about that Movieline photoshoot. That shot of Sheryl and Dana is just breathtaking. It brings back all my old Laura/Bobby feelings (which oddly enough came from the diary, not from their oncamera relationship...).
  14. I remember reading she had a new project in the works a year ago. I don't think I would have watched but it's a shame to see a legend get punted in favor of a show that has been a piece of [!@#$%^&*] for a decade.
  15. I avoid anything on ABC (my parents watch The Goldbergs - it gives me a headache) so this is the perfect home for it.
  16. nm...I need to remember to just avoid tweet reading and not be so bitchy.
  17. @DaytimeFan
  18. She still has a thing for him (she called him up pleading for him to come home in an episode earlier this week). No idea if he still does for her or if that has been dropped. Some guy from Game of Thrones is currently on the show as the manipulative boss and soon to be bed partner of ever-hapless Lauren. He's boring as hell - I have no idea what he was like on there. http://gameofthrones.wikia.com/wiki/Eddie_Eyre
