  1. Good for her. I hope she makes history in November. Even if she doesn't, she's already making history tonight. In other primary news, it looks like the teachers' attempts to go after legislators who supported the changes in pension laws have drawn some blood: http://www.kentucky.com/news/politics-government/election/article211665879.html
  2. I don't think Liv's really destroyed anyone, but I guess we see her differently. Gerry mostly existed for Lachlan's story. I think the only reason they ever had him bond with Liv and Doug was for more reaction when he was killed off. I do wish they had kept him around as I liked him a lot. Ali did return for Ruby's funeral. I agree that it was a waste of time to kill her off. I like Dan, and I like Kerry, but I wouldn't be surprised if the next producer writes them out.
  3. It just reinforces what many here and elsewhere have said - that he and the producers had big plans for her to return as a superstar, displace Kenya, etc. and are still stung that it didn't happen. In their heart, she is still their special girl.
  4. I just feel like they're shoved into a lot of media stuff and I get a bad vibe off the show in general. I can't help feeling a bit odd when I see them - it all just looks a bit false to me. Sorry - I know you and many others enjoy the show.
  5. I wish they hadn't included the kids as I feel like they have been exploited by the media and by whoever is representing them, but I enjoyed it otherwise. Bronson and Mark Linn Baker still work well together - I'd forgotten what a good balance they were. That may be why I have found Bronson tiring in other roles. And I thought the writing was pretty good.
  6. This jumped out at me. https://www.politico.com/story/2018/05/21/bernie-sanders-democrats-2018-599331 Two weeks ago, the group’s board of directors nixed Turner’s attempt to install her personal political consultant and friend as her chief of staff, even though the person had no experience in political organizing and had praised President Donald Trump repeatedly and attacked immigrants on Fox News.
  7. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/05/20/us/politics/trump-north-korea-nuclear.html Trump second-guessing a meeting with North Korea. (shocker...)
  8. I have not really seen much of his pairing with Erica, but of those I saw I'd say Livia.
  9. This was after Claire was almost raped, right? I was trying to remember. Peter Brown did a decent job with that emotional monologue, even if it made Robert look a bit like a prick. I never thought I'd get to see as much of this story as I did - it's always sounded drab on paper, and kind of is onscreen too, but the performances and Bell's writing make it better to watch than to read about.
  10. Oh and Tom Ligon and JLB had such great chemistry.
  11. @YRfan23 thanks for telling us about this. Every new 1982 episode, full or partial, we get is one that is like finding another clue is a treasure hunt - they each have something to help flesh out what we have only ever read about. This one in particular gave me new insight into why Jack married Patty when it was so obviously a terrible idea. Even here you can see that he still treats women as objects and is more bemused by the idea of marriage to someone who is fresh and different - not taking any of it seriously until far too late. Terry Lester adds so many layers to the character. And I liked the scene with Carl and John. I was very glad to get that brief partial scene with Lorie and Leslie as it's so rare to see any material with them that isn't about the men they were sharing. I'm glad that it was made clear here that Lorie had no real interest in Robert and she and Leslie were just having an honest talk about Robert and Leslie's knowledge of him. It was good to see them as sisters. Mallory also seems a bit less tense here. Victor's sexism is not a surprise but I think as years passed he was more open to businesswomen like Jill - maybe Lorie changed his mind. I think Victor's sexism didn't flare up too badly again until Bell retired, right? The Lorie and Victor stuff is laid on a bit thick but I still enjoyed it. JLB and Braeden work very well together.
  12. I'm glad you always keep us (or me anyway) on top of all this stuff. What gets me is I have a feeling he's going to end up being harder on the EU than he is on China, which will just poison another relationship for many years to come and let them move on without us. I have my issues with the EU, but we need some kind of allies. Trump likely thinks he can just pit these blocs against each other for his bidding. That isn't how it works.
  13. I know this is Augusta Dabney in the ad at 55 minutes but the daughter looks so familiar to me. Is it Jennifer Harmon? (never mind - someone in the comments said it was Betty Buckley)
  14. The people who went nuts over "Melanie" instead of "Melania" are examples of why I won't be surprised if Republicans do better than expected this year or Trump wins in 2020 (if he runs again). There's so much obsession over even the smallest things involving him that any oxygen for any other topic goes out of the room.
  15. Kevin Spirtas (Craig Wesley, DAYS) has a new show on Amazon, also including Anita Gillette and Colleen Zenk. http://www.playbill.com/article/kevin-spirtas-mitchell-anderson-cady-huffman-michael-urie-featured-in-after-forever
  16. I never knew of her. I guess the show didn't listen. (then again I also didn't know Tom and Donna were ever a thing) The guy who played Tony Barclay was so bad in those clips...
  17. I saw someone arguing on Twitter with one of the teenagers from Parkland (one of the ones who is against gun control) and I thought I recognized the name - sure enough, it was Matt Walton, Eli on OLTL. Hard to believe it's been nearly a decade since we could just enjoy his hairy chest and briefly pretend he would not be destroyed to prop up Rapist #2.
  18. You're right. I forgot that one. I guess it counts. I wonder how many viewers at the time guessed that Mr. Tashiwa (or whatever his name was) was Catherine. My mother guessed in the episode it was revealed. I guess they didn't really try to keep it too much of a secret given that she did have that scene in the lodge with Pete. Did you know about it ahead of time (as I did) or was it a surprise to you? Watching these again I'm reminded of how even with Joan Chen being a bit iffy as an actress, she adds a lot of heart and tries so hard to put across what Josie is feeling and just how much Josie is in over her head. If there is ever more of the show I hope we might get one last go-round with her.
  19. I was just continuing my very slow watch of Twin Peaks with my mother and I had forgotten Gordon Cole did not show up until near the end of the Who Killed Laura arc. In my head it was so much earlier. I had also forgotten that the Mr Tashiwa and Josie blackmail stuff did not kick into gear earlier - on my first watch I felt like the story started so much earlier and went on for an eternity.
  20. I can't remember if Kristof has ever been a Trump fan or not. It's hard for me to keep track because I think Kristof was a big W supporter... I tend to think that most of the people are vocal about their disappointment were never supportive in the first place. The minority who were clearly and very stupidly thought there were people in place to control Trump, even though the GOP primaries of 2016 showed very clearly there was no longer anyone in place to control or to make important decisions. So often the defense of mistreatment of illegal aliens is that they are trying to get here when they shouldn't and this is what they deserve. I wonder if any of those people will say a word about refugees also being put in these places. I doubt it. I read an article earlier this week talking about plans that are being drawn up to put the kids in camps - I don't know how true it is as the article was poorly written.
  21. I had to laugh at the comments praising her for leaving evil right wing Roseanne when her last show was full of racist jokes for years.
  22. I see that Erika Jayne was on The View as her BFF Meghan McCain bitched about Teddi and how Teddi only gets opportunities because of her father (.......). Erika of course took the high road, making Meghan the bad cop. I see that Erika continues to have the worst PR instincts possible.
  23. The House GOP is in a vise of their own making as the reason the farm bill failed to pass is because the far right wants a vote on an immigration bill. This was a personal kick to Paul Ryan because his precious let's punish people on welfare material was a part of the farm bill. I would say the House GOP will be glad to cull the herd this election year, but most of those who lose will be moderates, so that mean the far right will have even more power. I agree, but with social media at least these people are being called out more. It's still not really enough - laws or protests still carry the most weight - but it means shining a light on behavior that was once the everyday without anyone knowing or caring.
