It does. Or one of those generic blonde women Tad had stories with in the '90s.

I think the interim writers did try to use some of this time to justify that Amanda story decision - the main problem with that story is it was just completely dropped. I agree Mart was sexy as Ed. He had a certain charisma about him, a real love of life which made Ed easier to watch - even though he suffered in life he still carried on. I liked Peter Simon, but he was so very, very dour.

I think she may have already had that hairstyle but I'm not sure as I haven't watched any of her 1990/91 material in a while. If memory serves, Vanessa and Matt were only intended to be a summer fling and Matt was meant to be paired with someone like Lucy (?), but they got a big fan response.

@P.J. I thought you might enjoy seeing this old promo. Hilariously, the announcer calls Carly "Carrie."

As The World Turns Discussion Thread
She and Holden were supposed to have been close because they never felt like they fit in (Ellie sort of taking over some of Meg's old personality). I do think Ellie was a bit shoehorned in, but I thought Renee Props was a great actress and I thought her role in the story with Craig worked. The Kirk stuff was more of a mixed bag, as the "wacky" element was overplayed, but the business conflicts and their eventual split worked.

Guiding Light Discussion Thread
Rauch at the time blamed "Matessa" fans for the stagnancy of the couple, but the problem is even if their fans hadn't been so vocal, the story would have always been about Matt cheating on Vanessa with Dinah or some other woman. It would have been degrading. Wheeler and Kreizman did pull that trigger years later, when many of the fans were gone. I only watched a little of it - namely the Vanessa and Dinah confrontation (which was pretty good - Gina and Maeve worked well together) - but I'm so glad that I got my Vanessa and Billy endgame. Vanessa was generally written as so numbed and cookie cutter under Rauch, and dressed that way too. Ditto for Laibson's run. Say what you will about all the mistakes of Wheeler, I thought Vanessa was styled much more closely to what suited her character, and the character felt more like Vanessa to me, rather than a stand-in.

Thanks for sharing those. I'm glad they eventually let people know who played Ma Perkins.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I think she did want to leave, as they barely used her. I think she and Michael O'Leary worked to get the cochlear implants story on the air, but that was brief and a bit silly (her implants made her hearing powerful enough that she could hear a ticking bomb in the church). It's a shame as Amy was a fine actress.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

The wheels were well and truly off around that point - I think this was also when we had 'stories' like Beth calling Vanessa old and Vanessa wanting to get plastic surgery. I still enjoyed some parts of the show, but it was like a pulpy, queasy entertainment, not quality. That pulpiness kept the momentum until around the time B&E were leaving, but it got pretty ridiculous to where I just started to get too disconnected - like the hostage crisis that led Reva to get her own talk show. (I did like the actress who played the woman that started the Company hostage crisis - I think they had her in a 5-minute filler triangle with David and Vicky before they all disappeared)- Guiding Light Discussion Thread
I didn't like all the baby drama. I would have rather they just focused on her still being a fish out of water and deciding to live more of her own life. I did like her exit in that she immediately saw through Claire's sick games and that wasn't why she was leaving Rick. That whole "did Claire fake Rick's medical boards" story was so dumb though. The show really wasted Claire's return.- Netflix: One Day at a Time
Thanks. Are they repeating the special?- "The Conners" Discussion Thread
Looking back there were way too many pointless children in the last 3-4 years of Roseanne. There should have been more than enough drama as it was.- "The Conners" Discussion Thread
For me that story ruined Jackie's character, so I'm not sorry. I noticed Sara Gilbert is still hedging her bets though.- The Politics Thread
