The problem is even many in the Democratic Party are so tied to big business and to these types of tax cuts. I hope so, but the media is absolutely desperate for a Trump comeback narrative. They need him to win as he keeps their money rolling in, but if nothing else they need to keep it close. They have tried so many things. This is a perfect wedge for them.

She was married. This was also around the time of the Stephanie Gatschet/Tom Pelphrey/Gina Tognoni alleged love dramas. There were so many crazy rumors and stories it was hard sometimes to keep up. I remember someone back then claiming that Ehlers had also tried to make a pass at Bartlett, who was, needless to say, not interested.

That's what gets me about the "contemporary" ATWT in that other than a few new characters like James and Margo, the show feels so incredibly sluggish to me, and without any of the nuance shown in earlier years. That 1967 episode, while also pretty sluggish, has so many more layers than anything involving pornstache Brad. I feel like Marland and the producers he worked with decided the only Hughes history worth paving over was Kim and Bob, and that was mostly just if it could impact their kids (like Sabrina coming in for Frannie's storyline). Other than continuing to have Penny make occasional appearances in the first few years of his run, along with Amy, that history was left to fade. Even Don mostly faded after 1986, aside from the Ryder story after Marland's passing.

Your daily (or nightly) thought
@Vee I know you enjoyed The Americans so you may enjoy this. Matthew Rhys talks a lot about the confusing writing and about his rollercoaster ride with whether his parents should watch the show that week. I do love Matthew Rhys. Perry Mason does not look good to me (the trailer was terrible) but I hope it works out for him.

Most of his softcore work is credited to Frank Harper. I notice that too about Tudor - I figure it must wind down sometime in 1992. She's in a very eye-popping outfit for Clay and Dinah Lee's 'wedding.'

On the one hand this helps Trump in turnout because his justices voted against the ruling, so he will have more reason to say to his base that he's had an impact, but the main thing is this is good news for the country as a whole and to so many who came here and were then used as pawns and run into the ground. And it seems that Roberts is continuing to move further away from the right on key issues because the party is becoming so extreme he has little choice but to do so. He is still going to side with them much of the time, but we need that vote whenever we can get it. I guess it's just the abortion case left to decide now, unless I'm forgetting one. That didn't take long. Trump enablers like Katy Tur are already pushing that these decisions are good for him and trying to paint his Presidency as a success.

I'll be honest - I knew Chip from his softcore porn work before I ever knew he was on Loving. So it was a strange adjustment. I'm glad he uploaded all those clips for us though.

It's something that could have been interesting on GH, although not with Ron writing.

That would have been 1987, I think.

@Vee thanks for finding that Ava scene. On the one hand her speech feels a bit generic to me and I can see why some felt her reactions were out of character, but Lisa Peluso sells the material as well as she can. Watching some of the episodes in Randolph's absence reminds me that Ava had a lot going on in her own right outside of Alex, and he can be somewhat suffocating to her as a character. I'm mostly sorry that we never got one last chapter with her, but I guess that was Lisa's choice.

Here's a list of all the trash showing up for his hate rally. I'm sure their money-grubbing prayers will save them from Covid.

I actually preferred Robert Bogue to Mark Derwin (who was garbage for his last 2 years in the role and helped ruin the show for me), but the backstage stuff is so toxic it's hard to get past. I just wish he'd stuck with Dinah as he had a lot of chemistry with her, no matter how much he wanted to play-act with that bad acting Marina recast. At least they got together in the end, I guess. Here's a short Nancy Malone (the Robin after the one we saw in the January 1961 episode) interview. She doesn't say much about her time at GL though.

I thought he was fine enough - charismatic, if a bit on the smarmier side without as much emphasis on sympathetic elements. The decision to make him the heavy in the Rocky and Todd story, and then transferring this over to Rocky and Rio by trying to have Rio deported, was a waste of the character. Sadly Loving seemed to keep making Curtis the heavy in pairings through the '90s - at least with Dinah Lee and Trucker I could say they were fairly compelling, but Rocky...? Eh. Not worth character trashing. The most interesting thing about her pairings were that the guys would have been more compelling if they'd hooked up with each other. (considering her quasi-threesome fantasy I imagine she would agree)
