  1. I was thinking of AL's opening with various quick shots. When did that start? Thanks. I wonder if Eve reunited with Ben at that time but he was just no longer on the show...
  2. Part of an April or May 1985 episode and a full one right after (don't be fooled by the runtime as everything after the end of the second episode is a blue screen).
  3. I think Dorrie left a year or so later anyway. The soap magazines at the time covered her feminist views (I think George Reinholt also commented on them but I may be hallucinating that part).
  4. I don't get that either. I can see the comparison to the Another Life credits, but OLTL's at this point were just a bird flying and a sunrise (I love those credits but they were nothing similar to GL's). Thanks for the articles, @jam6242. I was sure Eve was around longer than that - didn't she have some involvement in the Carrie saga? Weird.
  5. Geez. As much as I wish more of those years was available, I'm not sorry I haven't seen this.
  6. I think it was also after she'd withdrawn after having a miscarriage, which just makes it even more gross to me. And this is right before the Mark Evans story, right? It's strange we go from a marital rape story to Amanda being in a love triangle with her mother. I guess you could say Marland was trying to tear down all of Amanda's support systems, but I wish they'd tried to strengthen the character instead. When Kathleen Cullen briefly returned in 1987 she was able to play the stronger side of the role. That cracks me up. I've never understood his firing at all. I'd say it's ageism, but they brought in several characters in his age range, with much less to offer.
  7. Thanks. Ugh that sounds awful. And it really taints the character. I know there is no "type" of rapist but nothing I have ever seen of him suggests he would rape a woman. Didn't someone once say Yates was unhappy or complained about his writing after he left? If so I can see why now.
  8. Someone once said there was a scene of Eve and Ross dancing at a ball and she told Ross she was leaving, but I wonder if that was fancruft. I agree about Joe. He had such an oiliness about him yet the actor was also very charismatic and attractive. Do you think Andy ever would've worked as 'the new Roger'? I've seen that Tim in a few of the 1982 episodes floating around - namely those unintentionally hilarious scenes of Josh and Vanessa being Mean and Wicked at the karate class, I agree he had a weird vibe. They would have been better off bringing in a new character. That scene with Kelly and Ed sounds ridiculous. It seems like when they fired so many people in front of the camera they also got rid of many behind the scenes who could help with continuity and with respect for viewers. GL is a show that seems so generic and ashamed of its past so often from this point on. I never can be a fair judge of Marland's GL writing as I've seen too little of it, but something just never quite clicks for me. It just feels too cold, especially when you don't have the newer actors who can add heart to the material, the way that, say, Kirsten Vigard did as Morgan.
  9. @jam6242 thank you for that article. I'm trying to figure out which changes didn't happen: - Joe Bradley was killed off, rather than just disappearing quietly - wasn't Tim recast one more time and would still occasionally pop up through the end of Marland's run? - Did Ben ever rape Amanda? I know he wasn't recast. When was Steven Jackson's last appearance anyway? I always forget. While I have to admit to being fond of Eve, and of Janet Grey's nuanced performances, I still don't know quite how she managed to last another year and a half.
  10. This is very moving. https://theglowup.theroot.com/exclusive-rep-ayanna-pressley-reveals-beautiful-bald-1841039847
  11. What annoys me most is we never hear what St. Bernie will do to pass bills. His cult members just seem to think they can strongarm everyone and that will get the result, even though they criticize Biden for pipe dreams about getting bills passed. Really I think they don't want the legislation to pass anyway - that way they can continue to make him a martyr and just go on about the pointlessness of the system.
  12. Oh yeah the prisoner of war stuff with the two Clays? I think both Avas had a certain childishness to them but Roya parlayed it with her poise so we got a different vibe.
  13. Thanks for your insights, as always. Do you think they made a mistake moving Ava to Clay/Alex? I wonder if she knows about these episodes. I would have liked seeing Pam Long try the show. She wrote friendships well, which was a big part of Loving.
  14. I need to see that. I didn't want to see them too close together because I know some got very annoyed at the original being remade so I thought it would taint my view. (I also wish the 16 minutes of Sorcerer that is on the German cut could be made available but oh well). It's good to see you posting again, as always. Not that this has anything to do with the above, but:
  15. Thanks. I'd forgotten Elaine Bromka played Dr. Samuels. Such a talented actress.
  16. Here's a little memory lane video they did with Eddie and just put up now - the most I've seen him talk about his SNL days.
  17. I think there was another Dr. Michaels sometime in the '90s. I remember being pleased to see Simon again. I think she also appeared on AMC as a therapist somewhere in this time period.
  18. The team of Klaus learning of their Animated Feature nomination (a real upset).
  19. Courtney left SFT around 1980 I think (didn't they recast her with Nicolette Goulet around that time?), although she made some brief returns. I think she began appearing oncamera at ATWT in the late '80s.
  20. It's also pretty much guaranteed many will be sitting home in November, no matter who is nominated. I guess we were always heading this way though. Pathetic. I can't stand Bernie but from what I've seen CNN's coverage was a shambles. I hope more people are coming around to the realization that no cable news can be trusted.
  21. The decision is another example of the damage done from so much producer changeover, since within a year after that Perry Stephens was fired and Jack was recast, which destabilized Stacey. And then they turned Curtis crazy when they'd already had an unstable son for Gwyneth and Clay. Lots of long-term mistakes. I'm glad to see a little more of Roya's last weeks in the role...and always glad to see more of Egypt. I can see why Linda Cook loved the role so much. The Jim and Jack scenes are the type of simple and believable conversations between male friends that would get lost as the years passed in daytime. I still kind of wish they'd kept Jim around (it helps that the actor is easy on the eye), but I guess he was seen as holding Shana back. @slick jones I think there may be some names in the cast list you could use.
  22. https://twitter.com/bubbaprog/status/1217298870750908416 The Warren and Bernie relationship is over.
  23. He became a villain and was killed a year or so after this. I think it was a murder mystery plot.
