I don't even think Bernie wants Democrats to have the Senate. Or the House. I think he'd rather just have rallies, like Trump. I can't really speak on Bloomberg as I haven't lived in New York. All I know is he can't be as bad as Bernie.- The Politics Thread
He's right. If Sanders was truly a candidate of the people he'd admit this. Instead he's saying nonsense like we'll have rallies in Kentucky. Mitch doesn't give a [!@#$%^&*] about your rallies, old man. He will just laugh and go back to sleeping on his bed of money. Anyway, in the latest example of "maybe it's time to stop obsessing over 'primary traditions' that have no real value," Bloomberg won Dixville Notch, the endlessly covered town in NH that votes first.- The Politics Thread
It's interesting to hear Carville say this because on Election Night 2018, while people were still voting, he went out of his way to pour cold water on the Democrats, saying there would be no "blue wave." I hope he's right, but, along with his wife, are people I always associate with saying whatever will get them attention. I agree it's too many, but I also think most of them have a fatal flaw...and some, like Bernie, have supporters who hate the Democratic Party and have no real issue with Trump. If he loses the primary, they stay home. If he wins the primary, they vote for him and then they either don't vote downticket, or they vote third party or Republican. I just wish that Warren had been a stronger candidate, because I would have voted for her in the primary and the general. I don't think I will vote for Bernie at all. This is what Carville tends to do. He says this and that to get headlines. He's one of the reasons why the Clinton machine was ultimately so detrimental to the party (I say that as somebody who, other than the 2008 election, genuinely liked Hillary and was happy to vote for her in 2016) - the insides of it were so rotten.- The Doctors Discussion Thread
Cults also began to be "in" for pop culture in these years. Edge of Night had a cult story with Lee Godart that I believe was meant to run longer if not for Jonestown.- Knots Landing
If she was a better actress I might've said Jamie Rose.- Knots Landing
I would agree that Joseph was a waste of a character, but I thought the Kate and Gary pairing was a bit embarrassing. She looked so much younger than he did and unlike William Devane, Ted didn't have the sparkle to make that age difference less of an issue. It would have been like if Mack had gotten it on with Linda Fairgate. It also reinforced for me that the show had no idea what to do with Kate. I think they were probably right to have Diana limited to a short guest appearance, but I do think they should have brought her in more in that capacity in the last season. Karen's life pre-Mack was so rich and much more interesting than seeing her as mother to Meg (I hated that story...) and going around lecturing. They should have recast Sid's daughter and had her come back into Karen's life - maybe as a junkie, like Karen was briefly. Diana could have been part of that. Michael too. They could have killed off Eric to jumpstart the story. If they needed to free up money, then Claudia should have gone. Love Kathleen Noone, but the character was unwatchable after she killed her son.- The Politics Thread
Cynthia Nixon tells the brain dead Bernie fans to stop booing. Amazing how simple this is...amazing that a surrogate isn't leading boos to try to show us how special and wonderful she is. And she isn't even a member of Congress, like his cultists who are so happy to lead hate rallies. The media is already back to tsk-tsking people who don't think Trump will win reelection. We're already back in 2016 already where they coddled and enabled him and then acted "shocked" that he won. An unreliable poll has ridiculous margins...you rubes, why don't you get it? The media is in the tank for Trump, the Democrats are running the worst slate of candidates I've ever seen them run, one of the frontrunners has sociopath supporters who are Trump supporters in a different wig and have openly said they want to put people in front of firing squads...voters are being suppressed and foreign powers are meddling...gee, why would anybody think Trump is close to a lock at this point...- EastEnders: Discussion Thread
Future producers would have decimated Pat, who had already been significantly degraded as a character. I think killing her was, in the end, the right decision. I just want the current hack producer to go repeat her flop stories somewhere else. I don't care about the anniversary.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

That would be a good idea, if they actually wanted to help this country. And imagining the cultists swallowing their tongues is very amusing.- The Politics Thread
I don't know if the media has decided on Buttigieg, as they've given Klobuchar a lot of love too. I think they are going to tear them all down to try to help Bloomberg. They'd love a billionaire vs Bernie for contrast.- The Politics Thread
I think the various attacks he's been getting and Klobuchar's momentum coming out of the last debate (even if some of that may be media creation) along with the continued support Biden has will hobble Buttigieg enough to where he's even more likely to crash hard post New Hampshire. That just leaves me to wonder if all the moderate Dems will keep tearing into each other through the rest of the process while Bernie runs up the score, unless Bloomberg somehow manages the big surge he's waiting for. If so, then the party needs to devote all resources to keeping the House and seeing what they can manage to salvage in the Senate. Bernie's cult is waging war against the party, talking about how they are now trying to rig Nevada too, blah blah blah. They hate the Democrats, dismiss them as corporate sellouts, and see them as the enemy of the country, more than the GOP. If the party wants to survive, they have to leave Bernie to his own devices, which is what he and the deadenders want anyway.- Santa Barbara Discussion Thread
Sorry to hear about her passing. I remember her from Night Court and St. Elsewhere.- Saturday Night Live: Discussion Thread
I agree. Par for the course, sadly. The funny part is that it was her way of saying "woman" that made me realize what they were doing.- Saturday Night Live: Discussion Thread
@Khan @SFK @All My Shadows SNL decided to devote a sketch to a very committed Dixie-Carter-as-Julia-Sugarbaker impression. I'm not entirely sure why, but Cecily Strong and RuPaul certainly gave their all.- Guiding Light Discussion Thread

I think there could have been more discussion over a consensus candidate for non-Bernie voters because I think he will lose horribly, and on a more personal level, I guess when I see Biden, who could have been a statesman, instead having to spend his time in a feud with a mayor who is 40 years younger than he is, it just makes me feel like the party is completely off-message and confused at the worst possible time. If I made it seem like a world-ending event that wasn't my intent.- The Politics Thread
Klobuchar and Buttigieg, and there's been conflict building with Biden and Buttigieg, which exploded a few hours after our conversation. I think they know they can't get Sanders voters, and Warren has her own unique pocket of voters, so they're jockeying against each other while Bloomberg stares down at them, waiting for his chance.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
I would have loved seeing it. I know the original plans were for Holden to be darker until the show responded to JH's chemistry with Martha. I wonder how Marland did feel about that because he tried repeatedly to bring in a darker edge for Holden.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
Holden would have worked as (not to stereotype) a bisexual schemer who was dead behind the eyes (as JH was pretty dead-eyed in those years anyway - he only warmed up as he got older) and would do anyone for power.- As The World Turns Discussion Thread
The February 4, 1993 episode has been uploaded - this one has been unavailable, aside from the intro. It's always kind of hard for me to watch this period as it's right before we lost Michael David Morrison, Doug Marland, and the stories are heavy and thin all at once, but still, worth watching to see my old friends again, and the divine Mary Kay Adams. (I still don't like that depressing opening though)- The Politics Thread
I'm not voting for any of these candidates in the primary at this point, so I have no room to cast doubt. I want to like Klobcuhar, but she just seems extremely phony to me and I don't believe her record in Minnesota is enough to win voters over. There are also huge landmines in her record that will not get real attention until late in the process. There's a huge clump of moderate Democrats who are tearing each other apart and giving Bernie a path to glide to a near-sure November loss. - EastEnders: Discussion Thread
